I have started my B-26. By started I mean, I sprayed things interior green, cause I had to spray that color on one I was finishing, and I figured, why not just spray the B-26? Been sitting like that for a couple of weeks as I finish up a couple of others for a show in two weeks.

Trey, awesome job! Nice use of the resin pour stubs, I never thought about that. I did the same thing to the radio table on mine. I think I'm going to do that on all my B-17s from now on.

I've been ordered to open the bomb bays so broke out the razor saw. The Verlinden update set included some nice brass doors with some rib detail added.

I had to adjust the nav/radio seat and desk position to a more 'scale' size and location

Then added some more radio detail and gave it a light wash to perk it up

Waist gun areas up next ,more True detail resin. The kit details removed with a dremel and the parts fit right in.

More nose detail added and more yet to come, the small resin bits to the left will be the bomb sight eventually

Thanks Paul, looking forward to seeing some of your Beau pics! Thats one on my to do list!

Even though this area wo'nt be seen in great detail once its entombed I could'nt just leave it as is. First I cut away this clunky blob of what ca'nt even be identifed and replaced the hole with some sheet styrene

Then after cutting down the kit supplied front table it was painted and glued in along with the support leg made from a standard wood toothpick

Next up was building the radio stack. I finally found a use for the resin mold bases, after some sanding they turned into suitable replacent boxes for the equipment.

Added some details and painted it

Finally installed

The next issue was dealing with the nose turret. The resin parts deal away with the kit mount and solid floor which was innacurate. I needed to scratch the support assembly and attachment point from styrene tube and square stock. A pretty straight forward affair and was fairly easy to align using the top hole on the chin turret as a guide for placement

gave a basic wash to the navigators station, once buttoned up most of this area will be entombed and not seen

Opened the Verlinden upgrade set and wow lots more resin goodies to add!

Another test fit of the fuse and all still fits well

Lots more to come stay tuned

B17Pilot thanks ,and yes I've been dry fitting ,shaping sanding and dry fitting again! I believe the fit is going to be okay at this point.

I'm happy with the floor and bulkhead fit now, still need to add a lot of details yet. For that reason I'm not hard glueing parts in yet. For fit reasons it was essential to get the front floor level and fitted first, after a lot of test fits its properly aligned and level now. The forward bulkhead IP assembly ties into the front floor nicely now and a test fit of the fuse halves shows no major alignment problems in this area now. This has been the most challenging resin interior I've encountered to date!

WOW Trey, you're coming along nicely! Before getting to far, test fit the floors of that resin set between the fuselodge, that's where I had the biggest issue. you're braver than I, I left those side panels off on mine.

Jon- That twin pony is looking great! Makes me want to resume the fight I have with my 48 scale one, then I look at it and say not right now.

Wow. Trey, Great dry-brushing technique and I appreciate your patience with the resin. I'm stepping back from resin myself for a while. The fitting piece if just too painful for me, especially with side panels, and full cockpit sets. Looking really good!

Bish yes the Eduard stuff is top shelf,ca'nt say the same about this True details resin set tho. The last True detail interior I used in another build fit great so they all are'nt bad.

The seat assembly went together nicely.

Delicate work removing resin from the control yoke

The IP test fit looks good on the floor but not in the fuselage, going to be some filling and remaking stringer detail to make up the gap

The Pilot side wall detail parts are ill fitting and need a lot of careful sanding on both the fuselage interior and the resin part itself. I wound up trimming off the back section behind the O2 bottle mounts to get the final fit. The other side panels that go behind those do'nt fit at all and the starboard part is molded in reverse. If you flip it around so the detail wo'nt be seen you could get it to fit,as this is pointless they wo'nt be used . Here is the one side in place after a day long struggle of constant sanding test fitting and some rather colorful language.

Bish thanks!

I'm using the resin IP with the Eduard color instruments so I had to sand flush the details on the resin to get it to lay flat. No easy task getting it level without destroying the lip at the top. Still need to add the throttle assy and some fiddly bits.

Jon like the open gun bay detail. The pilot detail does indeed look worth the effort, nice job.

Very slow going on the interior. The resin parts are thick and need to thinned quite a bit to get them to flex enough to fit the curve of the fuselage without breaking. They also do'nt quite line up perfectly so its even more aggravating trying to get all the components to align properly. There are some small gaps that will need tending to but nothing major.

Paul,

I do alot of the pilot detail work with a tooth pick instead of a brush, it takes a bit of time but the result is worth it :)

Jon,

Nice looking pilots!!  I have given up putting them in mine - I just don't seem to be able to keep my hand steady enough to do a good job :(

No turning back now!

Quick question, the resin parts for the cockpit sides have a canvas look to them, did this cover the exposed stringer detail on the G or is this in error? The parts for the sides are aft of the floor next to the seat rails in the pic

Trey, i often find fitting resin cockpits tricky, keeping my fingurs crossed.

Yes the detail on this tiny model is superb, just such a pitty I went and "missplaced" the darn cockpit glazing! :-(

It is on hold till I get a new one.

B17Pilot thanks for the info on the waist guns, still researching to find what production run this airframe was and I'm so hoping its an early one!

Theuns looks like its got some really good panel line detail for that scale ,looking forward to seeing the next update

Painfully slow progress with the resin parts. They required a fair amount of cleaning and a lot of thinning, still the fit is going to be tricky from the looks of things. I'll start removing the molded details next and hope the fit is decent enough .
