I was a Navigator, Instructor Navigator, Radar Navigator, Instructor Radar Navigator, Staff Weenie and Graduate of the USAF Weapons School.  That means I held the "vaunted 'S' prefix".  That and $1.35 might get you a soda.  I left the AF in 95 with about 3,000 hours in the BUFF.  The actual number varies between the documents I have.  That was 10 years of the BUFF.

I miss it and the Crewdogs every single day.

I will try to be more visible again.  I just changed jobs after almost 18 years in a steel mill.  Now I make foam rubber parts for cars.  Much less stress and better conditions.  Who knows, I might even finish a BUFF.

So, the SLEBs weren't always directed to the bomb bay for AEBE processing (Automatic Extra Baggage Ejection) ?

Dang, had a few SLEB in my life. Like MILEB - you know, by law, they were extra baggage.

But forget all of that nonsense; that is a most honorable career you have had.

I can understand why you miss the Crewdogs, and the BUFF.

Always a great honor as well Jim to have gentlemen who've served like Russ and yourself contributing to the build. It is a huge benefit to guys like me to get your perspectives and detail advice.

Progress. I haven't had a chance to 'explore' the new baggage.

I have a model room in my new place, but it is overloaded for a while,

and lost all my BUFF build kit in the move, it is here, I just can't see it.

Had my left hip replaced July, and recovering well.

My brain is fried from the morphine - hate the stuff.

Happy to see so many of my kits on shelves rather than in boxes or crawl spaces.

Mu BUFF hangs over my work desk, gently changing direction accaisionally from the drafts. Never a day without her.

My hobby desk is almost clear of stacks of kits.

I still haven't found my BUFF kit, but as mentioned previously, she hangs above my office desk, no engines, payload, paint, not even SLEB......

But fall approaches, and pretty happy to see the cool green on the surface of my hobby desk again.....

I've been recovering from another medication issue. I'm a lot better now, first day I've felt normal in a lng time.

Just keeping my fingers crossed it's here to stay.

I found a box full of resin aircraft parts and thought it was my BUFF stuff, but turned out to be some of Berny's donations.

I love metal etch, but I'm allergic to super glue and that kind of does in any attempt to work with it.  Nice kits but really need to find those engines. By the way thanks for the offer, I may have to take you up on it if I can't find the stuff. I worked on the engines and took a lot of Russ' suggestions to make them look more authentic, so sure would like to know what in heckalujah I did with it!

Wow, It doesn't seem like its been more than 2 years since I signed on here. Anyhow, I finally started my BUFF 2 days ago. Its also a crossover with the Boeing GB.

When I see those wing halves I can still smell the black paint sealant I sprayed on the insides in my back yard -  that would have been around 2006 but I can't get dates right

Looks good from here, I'm still looking for those engines, I may need 'a little help from  my friends' on this one

Thats actually a towel. Its a glass top desk. I figured it would be better if I ruin a cheap marked down towel than ruining the desk lol

I was in the "office" tonight trying to paint the zinc chromate. I would've been further ahead to not try that. Take my word for it. Don't ever waste your money buying the cheaper stuff. I bought an airbrush compressor set from Harbor Freight. I guess the compressor is okay, but the airbrush is complete junk. I have a top of the line Aztek airbrush but I can't use the testors airbrush with the Harbor freight compressor. does anyone know where I can get the right adapters for this?

I had my right hip replaced Nov. 30, 2015.

First one was July 09, 2015, so fast turn around.

I was doping around my apartment, yes, dope as in morphine, and I realized

that I lost all the BUFF build kit hardware, everything, not just the engines.

Well, it's not like we are lighting up the skys like when Hanoi Jane was around, but holy cow, I am trying to figure out how to finish the BUFF without all the kit!

Glad to hear you're alright and the hip replacement was a success. I can well imagine it was also, and still is, painful.

Sorry to hear about your lost kit parts. I wish I had some I could send you but my buff stash is limited to one kit I hope to build in the future.

Good news is that I found the crystal clear BUFF windscreens, and those

Houndog missles you sent, I thought they were gonners, (doggone!),

but they turned up as I was searching for the kit stuff.

I'm going to try once again tomorrow. I'm sure not used to these new

ball-joints, but it beats the way I was before.

Problem is, I can't remember how I packed them up, I can't believe i didn't pay more attention to that.....yikes, need a brain replacement next, my memory is bad these days and all that morphine they gave me didn't help...dang stuff is worse than beer for messin' with the neurons!

Well Al, more good news;

While searching for my BUFF kit, I found my old, mint condition, limited edition Vigilante by Collecte Aire... I though it was a permanent MIA.

Also began remembering packing up the kits, and many were packed per their location as I worked through the stash, so I found kits that were beside the BUFF kit, and realize my half finished 1/72 XB70 Valkyrie is missing as well, and I had put Buff stuff in the construction box with it at one time because I was comparing the bombers. I also lost all those gadgets along with the engines and Russ' iron crater eggs.

Hey panning for gold sounds cool, I would like to put that on my list of ways to get rich!

I hear you about the car builds, I only have two. But man does not live by Buff alone!

I once owned a 440 and was rebuilding it. A neighbor 2 houses down "borrowed" it one night, an' I never saw it again. A mutual friend saw it in his garage, but didn't mention it at the time because he thought I had sold it...yeah, sure.

Been following the gold side of this talk.....spent today sanding the floats for the new-to-me 2 1/2 dredge i bought.  Going to camo them for the stealth effect.  Got to get me more of the yellow stuff than the pan and sluice.  Belong to three mining groups in my area.  That was in between doing some painting on the sub and mustang kits.....

Hope you find the build box, sounds like you are narrowing down the suspects.  Fire up the bombing radar, you might get a return on the scope.

I have two 1/72 AWACs, a Lockheed Warning Star and a Boeing...they oughta' come in handy locating the off course engines!

CIA B-52 Black Ops says a downed F-4 has been detected, in a montainous area. I will recon and let you know.

Revell F-4 1/32 intakes were under construction on the desk at the same time as BUFF engines...it will take a half hour to land a helicopter and inspect the area...

12:43 Update: I found the F-4 instructions, and the BUFF instructions...under a pile of boxes that are from the general hobby room area...still digging through a mountain of stuff...maybe strike it rich, there must be gold down here

13:02 Update: I just found an old book on B-52's called B-52 StratoFortress in action. There are two bix boxes to dig through, looks like i packed my desk top very last thing and just put stuff in boxes layer by layer.

Wow, following along with this search is at least as exciting as watching the build! Yeah, I'm still following this thread even though I haven't started anything for it. If it is still going on when I'm ready to start my 1/72 scale Tu-160 Blackjack, I may just submit that here. This search is getting exciting, keep going man, sounds like you are closing in!

I had to go back to work, but am now just taking a break to continue the mountainside

search. It is a pile of boxes and stuff stacked in my living room a year ago that I moved from the garage and storage space, I didn't know my model desk build boxes were stacked up in that pile. If I pick a box up from the mountain, there's no where to put it down
