Well gents, the little guy is recovering. Sad thing is, I think

my x suffered more worrying about him than he did. No doubt,

we become so emotionally attached to the critters we can't bear

to face inevitable. 

This unfortunate little event transpired just as my brother in Ohio

passed the three month mark - he was given three to five.

I know a lot of you have been through very heavy stuff so I

won't belabour it.

I really appreciate the kind words and support guys!

Yeah, 

BUFFS aside, it's been more exciting than I care to recall.

I got past the puppy episode and then an old friend was kicked out of his house by his lady and ended up camping in my hobby room for a month. No sooner had he moved on when I ended up in hospital for a week with some kind of gall bladder attack - almost got opened up, yikes.

My brother's stage 4 cancer seems to have left him alone for a while, turns out they got it backwards, it was lung cancer all along.

Things have settled down and I managed to re-org the hobby room after the refugee left so it is looking pretty good for chaos. I got my BUFF hanging up and the kit build re-organized, I'm just sanding execess plastic out of the engine nacelles, about all I can handle right now. I bragged I would get my paint hood set up and I now have located all the material, I managed to save the big box - a weekend's work but soon the snow will be flying and it'l be fun re-assembling it.

I'll try and post pics when I'm done.

21F here this morning, wont be long before the 52 line gets cranked up for 2017 production. Should be at least 3 new builds and a couple  and a couple in the PDM shp

Well Major - Finally got a Buff to build. Minicraft "H" in 1/144 for the Santa build.   Ya, I know, a little on the small side.  I'm looking to the new 1/72 "G" from Italeri later on-worked "G's" at Beale back in the day.

Planning on doing this one in SEA camo, as that is my era, and don't like the looks of an all gray one anyhow.

Hate to rain on your parade, but the "H" model was never painted in SEA Camo. Originally silver/white, then Siop, then Strategic Dark Camo, them FS 36118 Gunship Grey overall.

While it may not be "historically acurate" from a pursits point of view, it will serve the purpose of a reminder of those days back when. 

Don't take it personally, or wrong, but since I am 6 years past my experation date ( they almost called it after  3 heart attack in 36 hours, 3 stents, and an implanted defib/pacemaker), I have come to the conclusion the only one I really have to please is me.

Well said , and I agree, make it the way you want it.

if I build all four kits I have I will have a totoal of 32 built in 1/72nd scale. Also have 4 or 5 in 1/144...

BTW the gold total for the year was 3.34 ounces...

Hey Goldhammer;

Your last point is the most important, I support your goal. Just getting a BUFF to completion is a sacred thing. Besides, what with digital colour manipulation between paint, pixel, and print, you might as well finish it as you can. If you're not happy, you can always PhotoShop your project photos to suit your likes.

PHOTOSHOP???????  Hell, I'm just lucky to get pics from the camera to here.   I'm one of the generation that came before these things, and am one of the most computer illiterate humans on this rock.

 

Got the dredge in the water in June for one outing, got 10 grains of fine for a 2 hour run longarming in one spot.  Even holds -100 after talking to Mark Keene and making the changes he suggested.  I'll have to post a pic of the thing, gor a couple of it on the trailer behind the Jeep in a parade.

You almost nailed it, the box is a 7 foot, 79 or 80 4x4, has the flares (hard to see).  The frame is toy 2wd, still has the fuel tank, and putting a water tank on the left side for camping.  Axle is 2 1/2", 1/4" wall reciever hitch tubing with Jeep Commando spindles and hubs. 31-10.5-15's.  Tounge box will have the 12V water and fuel pumps for transfer, also holds a small generator.  Building a framework out of 1" PVC for a ripstop camo tent cover.  Will all stow under the plywood compartment floor over the wheel wells (removeable).

Thanks, the tow rig is an '88 Cherokee.  Designed my own bumpers, nerf bars/sliders, and roof rack.  Has the 4.0, AT, part time transfer.  Was going to be my trail rig towed behind my '81 full size wide track Cherokee, but morphed into my daily driver/trail runner.  Has a 3" lift and 31's, with a Warn 9500 winch out front.

You guys know more about dig-rigs than I ever dreamed.

I got into olgd, and silver, but as a trader.

Read a book about 50 years ago about the lost 'Espectro Mine' but

got in low, and at USD low, about 10 years ago, which was a good thing.

 

I found out that gold was used as a filter or 'salt' to buffer thermo nuke devices.

Since I worked on the "G's" and for only 3 months back in '73, have a question on the "H" kit.  Minicraft calls for cutting the tail behind the vertical fin and putting in an extension, then re-installing the cut piece. 

When did this tail stretch occur, or was it always there.  I would suspect either always there or happened when the stinger went bye-bye.

I have the MiniCraft H version, and a few years back I opened it up and realized that even with my OptiVisor, this kit was far too challenging for me. Looking forward to your build.
