ok i'm just being lazy here as i am not a plane guy but is the cockpit color RLM o2 or RLM 66?  already have dark green, gray/purpleish color and sky blue. not fanatical about the colors as it will be closed but want something close.

There was some banter about this back on pages 5-6 ... the conclusion was RLM 66 (02 was phased out prior to the Do335 going into production) ... which matches what my reference book (Monogram) says.

Cheers,

Brad

Waynec... every thing I've ever seen or read states RLM02, however towards the very end war they would use whatever was available. I just did a FW190-D that was built at the very end, that had a D-11 tail graphted on to it because that was all they had to use, There were 4 such aircraft built that day with the miss-matched tail on it. Hope that helps...

Doug: You are doing some most impressive work (as always!) there, buddy! I love the amount of detail in the 'pit and on the engines! Great Job!!!

Marc: She's a beauty! i can't wait to see more!

Doug, I ended up using a bunch of steel BBs to weight the front end with.  I left off the top panel from the front, so once I had the 2 sides of the fuselage together I could just pour them in, pour some super glue on, and then hit it with some accelerator.  A few layers of BBs did the trick.

Thanks Sheptr... If your going to open one up there is no question about using them, Just womdering, what did you use to weight your front end with? After I got the engines and pit in I poured and packed sand in every where I could, then put enough Super glue on each area to hold it there.

Ended up finishing the seam filling, and putting some paint + decals on the airframe.  All Future'd up and ready for an oil wash.

Couldn't resist putting it up on its unpainted landing gear.  I'm pretty pleased with how its turning out!

Doug, nice work!  Those resin engines look so much nicer than the kit ones.  Well worth the extra effort!

Thats pretty good there Doug! You guys are giving me the itch to bust out my Pfeil sometime in the future. It won't be for this GB but down the line I'd like to give it a good run to fully open one of these up!

Ya I agree, the mono/revell kits are good,  they are after all what I grew up building.  But it is nice to add just a little extra detail, at least for my own satisfaction.   The Tamiya 335 was way out of $range for me to want to spend on a D0-335.

Thanks... yeah that is the one thing about these kits...sadly lacking inhigh detail. I ordered a bit of pe and resin myself, but all inall these Monogram/Revelle kits are good solid kits for the bucks. I have a bit more done on mine, I just finished pilots pit and have been cramming sand in every where I can under, and around the cockpit and around the blind side of the engine so as to keep from having a "tail dragger". I like the little "prop" they include im kit to place under the tail incase you didnt get enough weight to keep the nose down.

Looking forward to more of your 190 progress too John!

Take care...

Rigidrider - your cockpit looks great.

My update:  my resin wheel set from true details came in on Tuesday,  including the new exhausts that should be it for AM stuff.  hopefully over the next few days I can get back to this one,  Need to finish up my 190 for the group build.  And then start another Buhahahahah!!!

Arrow update,

I started cutting the openings for my resin exhausts,  They look so much better than the molded in ones, can't wait until they are in and I can glue the fuselage together.

Ok, not much time at the bench this week, Here are the latest pictures I have, most all the weapons radar operators pit is scratch built and still has some refining to be done before I call it complete , but here it is so far.

Oh, ok, I gotcha... well on the "blank"side (the port side) where the dumps are molded in, I just carefully cut them out and opened the slot, then super glued the new ones in until they just barely protruded through the slot. On the engine side I just trimmed and fit to the engine having decided to open the access door.

Doug,

No real problems yet, but just not sure how much of the original exhaust to remove and how far out they extend outside the fuselage.  I haven't had time to look at any real pictures yet.

Ok friends... I got a little build time started last night, Not much to show at this time. I'm going to start off a bit differently then usual, Like most I usually begin with the pit. But this time since its a night hunter and I'm having to fabricate alot of the items, were starting at the radar operators position above and behind the pilot. This is going to be the Theme of the build so I need to get that done first, I dug out all of the spare tubs I have in the spare part box and found one I could work with, Alot of alteration will be required. There was a spare canopy from an old P*51 Mustang kit I will use for the "Dome" of the radar operator.
