Doug: You are doing some most impressive work (as always!) there, buddy! I love the amount of detail in the 'pit and on the engines! Great Job!!!
Marc: She's a beauty! i can't wait to see more!

Waynec... every thing I've ever seen or read states RLM02, however towards the very end war they would use whatever was available. I just did a FW190-D that was built at the very end, that had a D-11 tail graphted on to it because that was all they had to use, There were 4 such aircraft built that day with the miss-matched tail on it. Hope that helps...
thanks. i don't want a whole collection of luftwaffe paints for the few i build. probably do a JU-52 for transport GB if it comes up next year and a couple of luft '46 tyuff because, like me, it's wierd. may even start on this today.

There was some banter about this back on pages 5-6 ... the conclusion was RLM 66 (02 was phased out prior to the Do335 going into production) ... which matches what my reference book (Monogram) says.
Cheers,
Brad

The general rule was that as of Nov 41, everything that could be seen through the cockpit was to be RLM 66. If you are doing the kit markings, which is one of the prototypes, then I would stick with that. If your doing a what if, you can choose what you want.

OK, a little more progress forthcoming here...Other then a couple of nasty gaps that opened up at the wing roots and the rear fuselage engine cover that were fairly easily resolved, things are going well. I guess I've been spoiled by the higher dollar kits and the way most fit together, and have forgotten the little annoyances of the Monogram kits. All in all though... I still love the old Monograms , faults and all.
OK, so what happened to my stars at the top of the page??? I had 4 working on my 5th and now there are only 2???
Doug, I think there was a trimming of defunct threads. I lost almost 1,000 posts off my count, it happens every now and again.
The build is looking great, Those gaps do look a bit nasty.
Thanks for the info Bish... Yeah, They were kinda excessive to say the least, but again, thanks to plasti-struct They filled in nicely.
well i had 4 under my name and now i neave none so i'm not sure it's a trimming thing. dropped a post in the feedback forum to get an answer
Just seen that wayne. There may be more to it than just a trim. You are down to just 16 posts, that can't be right.
Nice work, Doug! She's coming along nicely!
Regarding the missing posts: I think I had 5 stars before and now I have only 4. I don't really care about the stars, but disappearing posts seem strange to me...
Good job on those huge gaps Doug, kit's looking great.
Yeah, I lost posts too...according to my profile I've only made 1 post? Some database somewhere lost several years worth of history.
I'm FINALLY starting in on my Tamiya kit this weekend. Getting the workshop set up in the new house took longer than expected. My photo booth is still MIA in the boxes, but I'll try some bench photos in the next day or so.
Thanks Cassius... Yeah they were a bit excessive, but hey, thats what we run into at times... Well a little more progress, I'll have more this weekend too I hope! Thanks again! The first two photos are primer, and the last two are actually the begining base coat of color.
She's looking great, Doug! There are only 2 pics though...
Yup, I'm sorry but for some reason only two posted and when I tried to reaquire my PhotoBucket site it wouldnt connect and kept telling me to try again... What a POS photo site! Thing is if I try to change now, all previous postings will be deleted.
By the way, How do you post comments between photos? I used to be able to do that but now I have to try to post all comments before.
Not sure why...
Thanks
WQell here is a few mors... It took about 2 hrs to do the "squiggly" camo scheme and get the first gloss coat on...
The camo looks really awesome! It's well worth the effort! May I ask what colors (RLM number) you used?
I sometimes have the problem with disappearing pics as well. I don't know why it happens though...
For posting comments between pictures, I just write the text where I want it to be and it seems to work...
Hey Clemens... Ok, The RLM # ... I really had to dig for this one. The base color is called Sky Green, and acording to the author of the menu I was reading from, The RLM is 84, now he also goes on to explain that that was what his research led him to believe, but he also admits that that was speculative, and it may also have been designated RLM99. Paraphrasing him, he stated that at the end, the RLM pallet was badly diminished and there was alot of blending of colors to be applied at field units, and the RLM84 / 99 may have been nothing more then a base metal primer similar to zinc oxide which would allow the top coat of paint to bind to it. The squiggles and underside are RLM66.
Thanks for telling me those numbers! One of my 190s for Joe's GB is painted in 84 as well. What color did you use for it? I love the look of it!
Doug, lovely work on the paint job.
After posting a pic, I hit the space bar, I can then add the next bit of text I want to put in.
Thanks Bish, for the kudos and the tip!
To tell you the truth Clemens, I started with some model master green, (cant make out the label any more} and kept mixing pale grey and such to lighten or a drop or two of yellow to darken till it matched the pallet. Sorry I cant be more exact with the mix. I think MM sells a sky green, and the blue green RLMs.
Just looking over my color chart and found that Tamiya makes a skyXF21 or sky greyXF19 and MM does indeed make a RLM84 in their Acrylics.
That is great camo, i love it.

I guess I'll give one of the Tamiya paints a try...
Thanks John, Its different but I like the look, and being a fictional craft, as long as I stay "believable" I guess no one will say too much as I express my artistic freedoms! (ha)
Clemens... I saw the Tamiya RAF Sky and the other Sky along with the MM RLM84 and I like the Tamiya myself. What I do is not to get too concerned about over spray, as long as I keep it light and reasonable. I think it tends to lend some blend and life to the base coat.
Alright, I'm starting the decal work, Sorry, I got a little carried away and did quite a bit before realizing that I need to take some pictures...
Like I said there was alot done before remembering to photograph...
I like the unit insignia I was able to find,,, To me its a deamon holding a lantern and a sword, kinda fitting the Night Hunter theme I want to do...
Thanks again Bish and Clemens for reminding me how to insert comment inbetween the photos!
More later!
Nice decalling work, my friend! That unit insignia really fits the theme of your build!
