That's great stuff, Bish! I think the filter did add some depth and it definitely made that palm tree look even better by blending it in!

Thanks buddy. I do like the effect it has had on the markings. As for the depth, maybe its just me, I have never really understood all that. But looking at it under light, I think I see what you mean.

Hey everyone, some really great builds going on here!  Awesome work everyone!

I've finally gotten some time to hit the bench, so I have some pics of the 88 I'm doing.  I'd like to send a shout out to Bish!  He has really helped me with the research part of this build and I want to thank the professor for his help and knowledge!  Thank you mate!

This has been a really fun kit to do!  I'm so glad I got it and decided to build it for this GB.  I'm going to do my first ever dio when all is said and done with the 88.  I'm pretty excited about it.  So here are a few picks of the 88!  After a few more steps of assembly, I will start some weathering and detailing.  Thanks for looking!

Thank you sir!  This has been a really fun kit for me.  Something different than the winged things I normally do....and I might just be hooked!  Embarrassed

Oh yeah, those things are challenging heaps of plastic. Lots of plastic... Maybe one of their King tigers to begin with. The parts count on those models is relatively low compared to most other Dragon kits. Or you could dive right in and build one of their Pz.IVs (the older ones with the 1000+ parts, not those damn smart kits)

Actually, yes, they do. But I don't touch those.

As for the 1,000+ parts, don't worry, you don't use many of them. Big Smile

That's an impressive looking 88 Bish. I think the filter definitely improved it.

Nice progress too Eagle.

Cheers

Hey everyone!  Got a few update pics.  I did a little detailing.  I drilled the little holes in the seats with my micro drill!  Wooden handles on the hand cranks on the right side, and bare metal for the elevation indicator.  Still have some more to go and a little weathering then it's on to the dio base and parts!  I kinda like the last pic looking down the barrel!  Embarrassed  Remember, it's my first armor build, so I like the little goofy things!

Thanks for looking!

Nearly there Eagle.

Bish - I'm planning to make a start on my 4 gun Mobelwagen later today. I've realised that I'll be travelling for three of the weeks before this GB concludes, so I really need to get cracking if I'm going to complete both the Mobelwagen and the Ostwind, as I intended.

Cheers

Tony

Hey Bish, I'm afraid I have to drop out with the towed 88. I'm way behind schedule with my German P-47 because of all the decal problems I had so I won't be able to complete all 3 projects in time. I think I can finish the Flakpanzer and the M16 though.

No worries buddy, I know the feeling. I am up against the clock myself. I seriously need to cut down on entering GB;'s until I know I have the time. We have a couple of 88's in the GB, so its well represented already.

Finally time for another up date on my 88. All of the washes and chipping are now done and the bare metal bits have been painted.

And a close up of the recoil indicator. I had removed the moulded on one and have replaced it with styrene strip.

Next up will be finishing and fitting the tools before adding the dust effects. So almost there.

Finally got this wrapped up. After everything was put together, I sprayed on AK's dust effects. Once that was dry, I used their pigments mixed with water to add some heavy dusting. I rather like the end result. Though in some of the pics, some areas show up as a bright yellow the real thing isn't quite as bright as that. I also added some chain to the sides of the gun and the box's on the trailers.

I was originally going to make the badges from printing my own decals. But after chatting to plasticjunkie, I decided to try making them out of 6mm MDF. I kept it simple, the 88, I don't think it needs and more of an intro than that, and the DAK insignia.

So, here's the pics.

Thanks all for following along, all comments welcome as always.

WE have about 1 and a half months left on this GB, so lets get some more builds added to the front page before endex.

Bish, that's truly a thing of beauty! And the base sets it off perfectly. First-class work!

WOW!  Nice job on the eighty-eight.  The base just enhances the gun.
