Hey Happy Birthday GM!!!  Funny, I've read 'She' and 'Return of She' but never got around to 'King Solomon's Mines'. Oh well one day...

Stephen: Yeah, seems like to me either Solo or Fett would fit. I'd guess Chewbacca and C3P0 would be more supporting cast though.

Finished both "King Solomon's Mines" and "Allan Quatermain" this weekend. Now I'm really ready to go. Will start by sketching from my memory.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

25 days and this GB gets going! It looks like a long time, but we all know it'll fly by.

GMorrison - So have you located all the bits and pieces for your creation? Or are you still hunting?

Sasho - There's always time to come up with something ...

Have a great day!

Tim

BUMP

Finished reading "Allan Quatermain".

Need a double barreled rifle, a chain mail shirt, a pair of lace up desert boots and a Norman skull helmet.

I'm thinking this is for the fig and not cosplay, right? I mean, I'm cool with cosplay, but I think that get up is going to be WAY more expensive than the fig.

But probably way less expensive than this.

Tim, cool youtube link on the Spacehulk theme. I think that is the first 1/1 scale garage kit  I've seen, wonder what materials were used.

Earlier some of the members had posted some of their past figure work.  So here is something I just completed for the 1943 GB.  A good exercise on skin tones using acrylics.

More pics in the figure forum if interested:

Gamara, Marc and Tim, thanks kindly for that, good to hear you like the results.

If anyone is looking for some ideas for skin tone paints in the Vallejo brand, I found this list over at ColoradoMiniatures:

www.coloradominiatures.com/infovallejopaints.aspx

Specifically, I used  Faces #1b(Jaume Ortiz) but did not use the suggested wash.

Jack

Tim I love the theme of this build, would you be so kind as to include Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet by Polar Lights in 1/8 for me. I think his likeness has been used since the 50's in many different types of media and we couldn't let a hero like this not be represented.  Thanks

That's a fun kit Jibber. I built one a couple of years ago.

Guys, It's just a week until the build starts. I can't wait to crack this open and get started:

There's crime in Mega-City One that needs dealing with.

OK I cannot find enough to put together Allan Quatermain.

I would like to enter with the Monsters-in-Motion 1/6 Captain Nemo.

I hope that meets the criteria and will put off buying it ($$yikes!) until it gets green lighted.

Holy wow!

We're looking at less than 10 hours before it's go-time!

Some updates from our end: In short, we're SUPER busy. We're working on a lot of extra projects right now (no, I can't give any hints, but things are in the pipeline), so it's been affecting how much Aaron and I have been cheerleading. It's also affected the Art department and pushed back the group build badge design. Believe me, I just was over there stomping around and HARRUMPHING and it is on its way. We'll unveil it as soon as we can.

GMorrison - Heck yeah! Capt. Nemo totally fits the bill.

So, that's 18 of us, with a couple of new faces and plenty of vets from the WWI Aeroplane Group Build. If you know anyone else who wants in on this, tell 'em to climb on now, cuz we're closing the doors at midnight tonight.

Also, Aaron and I plan to do a series of vlogs like we did for the WWI GB. If you have any suggestions for how we might make them better, PM us.

Looking forward to this. I will try and keep up with the Vlogs this time.

By the way, its now 20.30 here. Do I get a head start. Whistling

Only joking, i'll be tucked up in bed by Midnight and I am hoping to pick up some tips before I get going.

I'm looking forward to the start, too...although unlike the WW1 Group Build, I won't be chopping plastic at midnight in celebration.  I too hope to garner some tips and inspiration before jumping in.

Can't wait to see the badge and the vlogs!

Central time, Bish! Central time!

Yeah, I hate to be Wisconsin-centric, but, it's where I'm at. Although, if I could convince the company to get me a bank of clocks ...
