Just a primer, I plan on Gun Metal as a finish. I've used it before with nice results so we'll see on this one, he's not an armor piece. Robby's finish is very shinny, I hope this will be the right color.

Very nice vlog, gentlemen. Good to see Aaron out of the gate early, for once.

One small correction for Tim -- you mentioned "Jim Reeves" in connection with Superman. It's a fairly common mistake, as people quite often get the three Reeves brothers confused, since there was a distinct family resemblance. (Note particularly the "family" hair with the high hairline, widows peak, and straight-up growth.)  But here, as a helpful memory aid, is a sort of "group" shot:

I did this work a couple of weeks ago but haven't had a chance to post them yet. Here's some of my progress on Dredd.

Removing excess vinyl from a foot with a sharp knife:

Checking the fit of a sole:

Filling feet with Milliput for reinforcement:

I hope to be able to prime the parts next week and start the painting process. The design does a good job of hiding the joins so I plan to paint most parts separately.

jibber, nice work on Robby. I was wondering about the red and then I noticed the base and realised it must be primer.

That DVD was waiting for me on the Tues when I got home from work. The other half was still out and not due home for a couple of hours, so I put it on straight away. It was great to watch that again, so thanks again for the reminder.

Aaron, nice start. Going to check the vlog out later, I aim to keep up with them this time.

Bish I'm spraying Robby with Gun Metal. I've done this before with a red primer and it has a slightly different hue to it but I don't think I would do it on an AFV, but Robby is a robot and I taking a chance it works for him.    

Good to see the vlogs up and running again.  And shocked to see Arron whoopin' yur tail there Tim.  Working at work?  PRIORITIES MAN!

Can't show anything  on the CFTBL but I can show you how close I'm gettin'.  The photo sort of applies since it is most definitely a hero.

I did get the faces mostly done over the weekend, they're to the point they may need a little more work but I'm afraid to fiddle with them more and mess them up. Dang- I was going to take photos but got in a hurry and forgot, I'll see what I can do if we get some good sunlight here- I really need a photo booth or something like that.

Marc - Very nice! Yeah, I know. I'm trying to get to the important business of figure modeling, but all this editing and publishing hoo-ha keeps getting in the way.

Gamera - Make it so. (I don't know what you're supposed to make so, but it sounded better than saying something with No. 1 in it.)

Unlike Marc, I can't show you any images of the model I'm working on--need to keep that shielded from sonar until ... well, I'm not sure which issue it'll appear in, but until that issue preview hits the website. I will tell you that I spent many hours with window masks and photoetched-metal parts over the weekend. So many hours I missed trick or treating with Dark Power (YOU HEAR THAT AARON!?)

Oh well, I have another stab at it (HA! stab at it ... I kill me ... HA!) on the 31st. Not that the kid needs anymore candy--he always brings home a huge haul. I guess his cousins were upset that he was getting full-size Snickers and Butterfinger bars when they were only getting the snack sizes. It pays to be five, cute, and charismatic.

The work that's getting done in here so far is looking GOOD! Keep it up, gents. As for me, I have two feature stories for March that are howling for my attention. I'm off to whet my flensing blades. Back, beast! Back, I say!

Nemo has arrived!

Boy, I don't know what I'm getting myself into here, but it's gotta be worth a shot.

It turns out the actual manufacturer is an outfit called "Dimensional Designs" and they are right down the street from my office.

Uh Oh...

I already called the guy because there were no specific instructions in the box. His recommendation- look at built models online and watch the movie. That makes perfect sense.

I'm pretty excited about this.

Just finishing up Robby. The body is complete and I just finished up his head gear. The base I sprayed Desert Yellow by Tamiya and then dry brushed a dark brown. These are the colors suggested by Polar Lights, but in the movie the ground and mountains are a lot darker so I chose the sandy/brown combo for the contrast. The entire kit had fit problems and the head gear was no exception.

Jibber - Well done! You wasted no time at all! Grab the badge you prefer and feel free to add it to your sig line.

How did the seams along the legs turn out for you? Any advice regarding fit you'd want to impart to those of us who might build the kit in the future?

Like Tim, I'm curious about the legs (after Aaron's dire remarks in the vlog....)

The problem with the legs are in the curves. I set them to make the least amount of work because the high and low parts of the arcs were off by just enough that they needed a lot of work. First I lowered the high points and had to rebuild especially the low points where they met. Ugh. But I think it turned out alright and you would need a gauge to see that they're slightly off. I actually thought this would be a fun little kit, couple hours maybe......

Jibber: Wow! Been a little while since I've seen the film but he looks pretty darn close to me! I guess I should pull out the DVD and rewatch it now! The gunmetal looks fantastic!

Thanks, I think it is right up there with the best of the 50's Sci Fi movies. I can't wait to see some of these other builds, a nice change of pace.

jibber - Robby looks great, and that metallic finish looks flawless.  

I think that red undercoat helped give it a slight warm look to the metal, I can see a bit violet hues all around.  As for being a fun kit, well if it were me I'd be ecstatic to have completed this in a week's time.
