Sorry I have been gone for so long guys. Lots have happened in my world in the last few months. I asked for an extension for the NMF group build so we should have untile the end of January instead of the end of October. I did this for my benefit, as I have still to find a job and had a major car accident in the last six weeks. SO with that said those of you who have them ready go ahead and post your images and will chat later. I do not have email at home right now so It has been a long time since i have been able to go online anywhere. I hope all is well with all of you and best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season it will be a few weeks before I get in here again. I will remind Lawrence Hanson of asking him for an extension. I called him last week and he said there was no problem. So keep working and best of luck to all involved. Cheers.

Good luck Aurora. I am getting down to the wire too. Hope to finish. I'll have something to show, but not 100% sure it will be what I would call a finished product. Maybe I should be out there working on it instead of in here...Big Smile [:D]

I'm finishing up the F-89 now and should have it done in the next day or two. I'll be out of town this weekend but will be posting pics of it here next week.

BTW, is there by any chance somewhere in particular we are uploading pics too? Or we're just showing them off here?

Well, the Constellation is all done and foiled and decaled and by gum it looks pretty cool from 3 steps away... but the drag of it is that my digital camera chose at this critical time to go on the fritz, so even though the bloody thing is done I can't show you pics by the deadline, aaarrgghh. I'll try to post afterward.

Well, I think I'll have my F-89 ready before the deadline. I got the part from Blackbox the other day but have run into another snag with the RO's blast sheild. I may end up making it out of something else. The kit part is way too large. We'll see.

I'm surprised to not see any more activity from this thread with the deadline drawing near. Where's everyone at?

Leon....cool beans.

Unfortunately, I am not going to be finished in time for this build. still appling very small pieces of foil and haven't even considered decals yet (gonna have to be custom). I'll finish this build, but not by the deadline.
Someone - next time I sez I am going to apply foil - just smack me upside the head and hand me a bottle of alcad or SnJ

Well I FINALLY got a natural metal finish put on my p-47. About 13 times since last updating this thread, I have considered just sitting down at the computer and saying I'm out. Let me just say thank god for mr. surfacer because I needed tons of it, but (and I never thought I would say this) after seeing the nice shiny metal finish I think I caught my second wind and may finish this thing after all. Might post some pictures if I can pull myself away from actually working on it for enough time :-)

Well, I thought I was about to get my F-89 back together but I lost a part to the Black Box cockpit. I emailed those guys and, within a few weeks, they sent me the part. I opened the package and, wrong part. I've emailed them back so hopefully I'll get the right one soon.

And to think I thought I'd have this thing together way before the deadline.

sounds good Leon, it seems that there is just a remenant left in this build, with the frequency, or lack of, posts on this thread. i'm with you friend, i got all the pieces attached to my stang that will enable me to begin sanding and priming fairly soon. i got alot done saturday, which is my main day of modelling most of the time. not much time during the week days, but thats about to change in the near future hopefully. can't wait to view your progress. later.

Well I have to admit that I have been a pretty poor member of this build. I signed up for it during last school year and am just now really getting into it. Originally I signed up for a p-47n and a p-51d, then mistakenly signed the p-51 up for the mustang ranch (not knowing that it was poor form to double up a build), so I will probably just be calling the p-47 part of this build.

Anyway, I used an aires cockpit and got the fuselage closed and wings and stabilizers put together and cleaned up this weekend (except for the part that holds the gun barrels - I'm trying to locate some perfectly sized hypodermic needles to replace the plastic ones first). I haven't glued the wings/stab. to the fuselage yet and it looks like some pretty good amounts of filler will be needed for that. I don't have any metal finish progress to show yet, but maybe I'll get a cockpit shot up in the next few days.

Hope everyone else's build is going well, Leon

One way to stear clear of that is to trim your decals as close as possible to the graphics.
Like just lightly cut around the graphic before you dip in water, that way, the excess decal
stuff slips away from the graphic before placing it on the plane.

you could also spot future the area that the decal is going to go on.

Hey, can anyone steer me straight in terms on decals on BMF? I have started to decal my foiled Constellation and despite using both SolvaSet and then MicroSol, my decals still are showing that white cloudy film on the unprinted part of the decal. I thought MicroSol was supposed to make decals look they were painted on. Any gen on what do do? Or is BMF just not conducive to perfect decals? Thanks...

Update on the F-89:

I've had to stop since I misplaced a part for the Back Box cockpit. I've contacted Back Box and, believe it or not, they've got that part...or at least they have the means to reproduce it and send it may way. I'm not expecting it in a short period of time but at least I know I'll get it.

Right now I'm working on an F4F-4 Wildcat. Not NMF, but it is a prop-job. I haven't built a prop aircraft in at least two years. When this is and the F-89 is done, I have a red and NMF MIG-15bis waiting on me..Big Smile [:D]

Liam,
I Just bough a 12 bottle box (2 oz each)of Ambroid Pro Weld - this is really good stuff- for about $2.89 (can't tell you what the conversion to pounds is) each from hobbylinc.

Shrikes:
looking good.

update: nearly have the cockpit done. finished the foil work on the intakes and
exhaust interior. getting ready to button this bird up fuselage wise. Startin' to think about custom decals as I seriously doubt that I will be able to do 1/16" wide pin stripes.
