Weather's been so cold here I haven't been able to get out in the shop. I did find a propane wall heater for 20 bucks and plan on setting it up this weekend hehehehe.

So not really much of an update here, I have the interior done and glued in.  Looks like this kit is a bit of a highrider.  This is about the look I'm going for.  Stock height in the back, lower in front.  Looks like the back is too high though so I may have to modify that ride height just to close up that huge gap.  It's just set on the chassis at this point.

That thing is looking pretty good Fantacmet. A few more tweaks and you'll be through. I've made no progress at all on mine :(

Well I finished the Mustang II. It did not turn out as bad as I thought, or as good as I hoped. When ever I start a build I always invision a contest winner. Here are the pics:

This was the first time I added plug wires. Also I added an accel super coil from Morgen Atomotive detail.

This was also my first try at a multicolor paint job. I tried something different with the grill. I was something I saw on a Don Yost(?) video. Basically It involves coloring the grill with an artist pen, I think I'll go back to doing a thick black wash.....Anyway there it is.

New to the thread, so don't know which challenges you encountered... But that looks like a very good build to me, Dale. But... we tend to be our own worst enemies on that area! ;)

That really looks great 65ss.  I need to do a racecar soon. 

Your wires look awesome, the 2 tone paint looks awesome.  I'd say you rose to those 2 new challenges quite nicely.  As seabe said, we are our own worst critics.  It turned out nice.

Cheers to you Dale!  I see you fought your way through all the bad points of that nasty little kit and made it look good.  Mine is still in the box and there it will stay.  It is hard to get that kit to sit right and look good but you did it and you should feel proud, I know its not easy.  I think it looks great.  As Gordy asked, Whats next?

Thanks for the kind words guy's. Next on the list is AMT's KISS Ford Monster Truck that I am doing over on the 2014 Automotive GB. Not a lot of progress yet. Next I think will be a 1997 NASCAR Buch Series (now Nationwide) Monte Carlo in Shneider Racing trim. It would seem I have been bit by the Automotive Modeling bug! I will be checking in to see how everybody's builds are coming along!

Great work on an old and dodgy kit Dale. It looks great, and I look the two tone scheme. I've updated the first page with your build.

Everyone -  I found that I've missed a few entries on the build roster. I think I've got them all now, please let me know if you find one of yours is missing.

Hey Guys.   I jumped ahead on the 53 roadster a bit.  I just realized how much I love white wall tires.  This little chassis looks really cool with white walls.  Anyway on to the pics; I'm not sure how or if I'm going to weather or age this chassis but I think it looks pretty good so far.

Gordy, That's looking sharp. I'm like you, I think the whitewalls will really set it off.

I worked mostly on the Chevelle for the other GB today, but I do have the Mustang body soaking in vinegar and water. Read that it will loosen the messed up decals so I hope it works. I really don't want to destroy  the paint. Also got the 70 Boss Mustang parts washed and ready to start on.

Looks good Gordy - you got to love the wide whites!

So I was able to snap some pics this AM of what I have completed over the past few nights on the 53 vette.

I think I'm pretty much done with the frame/base of the car, motor/trans, and wheels.  Now to start the body and interior.

I made little fuel lines with wire and added a rad hose with some thin solder I had.  Using pics for reference I think i got it pretty close.  Oh and I made a dips stick-tho it can't bee seen in these pics.  *EDIT-I was wrong.  You can barely see my handy work in the top down pic, nothing special but it's my first dip stick.  That seems like a weird thing to say.  Anyway...

I'm not 100% happy with the carbs, I probably should have just gotten some gold paint and did that but I use what I got.  That's Tamiya translucent yellow with 2 coats of a Vallejo black wash I used like a filter (I think that's the correct terms that I have been reading).  I also need to do some paint touch ups still.

On to the pics;

So I guess it's on to the body now.  Actually, thinking about it.  I may do the interior before the body.  The exterior paint is clearly my weakest link and I'm not looking forward to ruining all the effort in other areas with a half-assed paint job.  Oh well, we'll see how she goes.  Thanks.

Hi all,

Here's some of the progress on the 70 Boss.

I got the front and rear pieces welded in and started sanding them down.

Also started putting the engine together and welded the seats and tunnel ram together.

I got quite a bit done to the Mustang.

Interior is done except the gauges. Engine is just about done. I'm using the tunnel ram so I am going to attempt fabricating linkage for it. :)

I got the body primed and painted. And was able to get the Mustang chrome done before running out of Alclad.

That chrome really looks good Eric. I can't seem to get those kinds of results with Alclad. Do you mind me asking how you get it to look so bright?

I use Model Master Gloss black enamel. Alclad doesn't seem to stick to acrylic. I turn my pressure down to about 10 psi and mist on a light coat at an angle to the part, not straight on.  It has something to do with the way the metal particles in the paint lay. If you watch it you can actually see it turning to chrome as the particles flatten out. I spray just enough to make the black disappear. I let it set for about a minute or two and if it still looks dark I will mist on a second coat, again at an angle to the part. You have to be careful with the second coat and spray just until the black is gone, to much will turn it flat. It took me a few attempts but once you get it, it becomes really easy.

Thanks Eric, I figured i must be missing something in how you spray it on. I was spraying it like regular paint and wasn't happy at all.

Once you get a feel of what to look for as your spraying you'll be able to judge how much to use. As your spraying it, it will look a little dull until the stuff starts leveling, so keep that in mind as your spraying.

With this stuff, less is more.

It's raining so about all I did today was start making the gauges for the Mustang. Here's a mock-up of how they look. I still have to finish the rest of the details. I have them printed and just need to drill out the holes.

Hi all,

Here's some updates on the Mustang. I got the 429 decals on and the first coat of clear sprayed. After it dries for a day or two, I'll sand it and spray the final coat.I have most of the engine assembled and started working on the linkage for the tunnel ram.
