Been playing around with a few ideas for the aircraft badge. Found this image and really liked it, so I added some text and came up with this.....

Greysnake, the Kaiser called me last night and he was in a bit of a mood. I suspect he'd been at the Schnapps again...

In the middle of all the spluttering, something about how the SMS Scharnhorst would rather be sunk with all hands, including the Spees, than ever become the HMS Scharnhorst!

I got him calmed down with memories of sailing on the Thames with him as boys, but I promised him you'd change it on the list.

Welcome aboard Big Blue!  I've built 4 Wingnut kits so far, and have nothing but the highest praise for everyone involved with that company. You are in for a real treat!

Considering the run time of this GB, it appears that there will be plenty of time to squeeze in another WnW  kit from the stash after the Snipe, but which one? Still waiting to be built are an Albatros D.V, a late Fe2b, a Sopwith Tripe, and their Roland D.VI. - decisions, decisions.

Hey Grey Snake, I will most likely do my 1/32 WNW Se5 , once I get the guts to actually remove it from the plastic bags LOL.

I think my first model for this GB will be a 1:48 Eduard Albatros D.V.  Might tackle the 1:48 Special Hobby SPAD VII after that.

Been itching to do a bomber too...

I would like to participate as well.  I have been a committed WWII aircraft builder, but have been drooling over those amazing looking Wingnut kits.  This is the perfect excuse, and the delayed start will give me time to get my courage up.

I will come back when I know which kit I decide to build, but it will be a 1/32 WNW.

I will give a try with the SMS Scharnhorst 1/350 from Combrig. Sunk at the Battle of the Falkland Islands December 8, 1914.

Thanks for including those of us who build ships in this GB!  Although I usually build sailing ships, I picked up the HMS Dreadnought pre 1915 update and I would like to throw my name into the ring.

Bish, You may think that 0/400 isn't as good as your other builds. But that's a heck of a kit to start on for your first rigging! I know I wouldn't have been brave enough

Mike, I've been thinking about getting that WW Gotha with my tax return. That or a 1/32 F-14 or maybe both

Dave, very impressive stash of WWI birds!  Only thing missing is a Wingnut Wings Gotha.

Bish, still tough to believe that's your first bipe. Light years ahead of my first (and second and third) efforts.

I've said it before, but I love that 0/400 Bish. I might even get to an aircraft as well, but lets take it one at a time.

O, I think I am starting to get the bug, just a little. I built one last year for the FSM WW1 aero GB.

Not upto the standard of the other builds in that GB, but it is my first.

Tony, Got your build updated. I do agree that the bust looks goofy. But I'm sure you'll do a great paint job on it. I believe Sheperd Paine said a good paint job can make a poor figure look good. I admire anyone who tackles large scale figures, and makes them look life like.

Wingspan on this beast was 157ft!

Also your in the same spot as me with the Staaken I don't have the space either.

Took a peak at my stash and rounded up the WWI kits, trying to figure out what to build. I'm sure I''ll add some more before July. But here's what I have for now.

David, the Zepellin Staaken is enourmous even in 1:72 :) but I think there was one slightly bigger bomber during WW1. Just slightly bigger!

About being tempted to build - definately yes, the only problem is that I don't have where to put afterwards - not enough free space :-/

There is much time till te GB start, but I may try a 1:72 Gotha GVa/Vb (if I can find some nightlozenge decals) or some WnW kit (Fe2b maybe)

Tony, that would be cool to see a bust made.  I know what you mean about the goofy look - seems to be a trademark  on a number of Verlinden releases.  

A bust is something I considered too, but if we go four years, I can also add an aircraft, and maybe more figures.  

Mike, that's another sound idea to have a badge dedicated to each aspect of the war.

Wow, this is shaping up nicely!  Great to see so many having their first go at a WWI subject, and equally great to see just as many familiar faces too.  I've been toying around with a badge and think I've found a cool image to use as the backdrop - only issue is it's just aircraft.  Perhaps one badge for each genre (just as Marc did for the Great War GB) would be appropriate.

Bish, the Wingnut Wings D.VII's are awesome kits!

It's been a long time since I've painted a figure or bust, but I did paint the busts of those four Aces that DML included in there 1/48 WW1 aircraft kits years ago.

I think I'll paint another bust, this time it will be this one, out of my stash. He looks a bit goofy but at least he's from 1914.

I believe Mike (ruddratt) offered to design one.  I can look after adding the medals to the main badge, if we go that route.  If I design a badge, I'd  end up resurrecting Terry Thomas again:

Jack, I like the idea about running the group build for the next four years. The badge idea is really good also. Would someone who's better at making them care to try? What does everyone else think of the idea?

This is the Zeppelin Staaken I believe the largest bomber used during WWI. I have the Roden 1/72 and its huge! Talk about the mother of all rigging!

Well, I'll give this one a shot! I'm planning on the 1:48 Macchi M.5 Italian Flying Boat (I'm a sucker for any type of float plane) if I can find one.

I'd definitely like to get in on this GB. Never been involved with a GB before, and never built a WWI model!

I will build something too. It's been a while since I dabbled with WW1. I'll work it out based on interest closer to the date.
