Well first thing I need to do is check out the 190.I haven't popped in there for a bit, had so much going on. You defiantly look rearing to go there Joe, I hope you have something to keep you occupied though, or you will be frothing at the mouth come April.

In the meantime, watch Wings of the luftwaffe, Ju 87 Stuka. It will keep you occupied for at least the next hour...
Thanks for reminding me Nathan. Believe it or not I still have an old Stuka VHS tape that I got from Phils Hobbies in Carrolton, Tx back in 98 or so. Phils had to close its doors and is now located in Florida and is called Bobe's Hobbies. I'll be watching that one soon!

You still have a VHS player?
Hey Bish - This post is for making this thread show in "My Discussions" to give me some motivation. I have a 1:72 Academy Ju 87G-1 I am itching to start.
You can pencil me in if you like. But I need to make some progress on my other GB's before I officially join. I don't want to be a drop-out in any of them. Since two of them are yours, I guess you'll see if I'm successful.

Nathan, are those wings of the Luftwaffe any good. I have ben thinking about getting some of those, starting with the Stuka ones of course, but never sure if there really worth it.
Mike, I will put you down at the bottom of the list as a possible. I know the feeling, I have a few GB's to get to before I start my Stuka. That Academy kit is a nice one, I built that G-1 last year.

For those of you who aren't lucky enough to still have a VCR many (all?) Wings of the Luftwaffe episodes are on YouTube; including the Stuka episode.

I thought you mentioned in a previous post that you had done that kit. Is there anything I need to watch out for, or was it a pretty painless build?
It is a very nice build. I replaced the cockpit and cannon with Aires resin, but you really don't need to. When I compared the two sets of cannon, they were just as well detailed.
I did it for the Ground Attack GB. If you want to have a look, the build starts here
cs.finescale.com/.../144726.aspx
And runs through to page 29.
But there were no issues where you might often find them. The wings went on without any filler, I did use a little on the tail support struts but that was about it. I have done 4 Academy kits so far, and they have all been nice builds.
And I will check those out on You Tube, no harm in browsing before I buy. Thanks.

Ohh man, I used to be obsessed with Wings. I had no idea so many of them were on Youtube; it's a treasure trove on there.

Thanks for the link, Bish. It looks like a fun build. I can't wait to start it!
I look forward to seeing your. Mine is still my favourite build so far, it was a nice build and I was really glad to finally add a Stuka to the finished pile.

I have a reel to reel projector. Does that count?
Hey Bish. I ordered an Aires set. I'm an Aires cockpit newbie, so it'll be fun.

panzerpilotHey Bish. I ordered an Aires set. I'm an Aires cockpit newbie, so it'll be fun.
You're going to love it. The amount of details those guys manage to squeeze in a single cockpit tub is hard to believe...
I just had a look at the Aires website and they had a notification for Go-Modelling visitors (the model show in Vienna this weekend). They can bring you any resin set you want to the show for you to pick up at the show. All of that with a 10% discount (20% if you order 5 or more items). So I placed and order for quite some AM goodies there (including the Stuka wheels)...
So Aires does wheels too?
Apparently they do:

Thanks for the link Clemens!
I have a question regarding open engine panels for this bird. Does anybody have any pictures of Stukas with the top access cover removed and the sides still on? What I'm seeing is that the sides cannot be individually open. It's either the whole nose panelling on or off or just the top panel off. Any help for reference would be great.
I did find one picture but it was of a model somebody had already built and the picture quality was crap.
They do covered and un-covered wheels and spats for the Stuka, in 1/48. Mustang- I have some cowling pics, I'll post them up later.

I have only ever used there sets in 72nd so will be interested to see how they fit in the larger scale.
Mustang, I can't say I have not seen any pics with just the top off, but I will check my books more closely. But I got the impression that the side panels were held in place by the top and bottom, at least on the D models. Theres at least one panel that has to be removed for the top and bottom can be removed.
And the Aires wheel sets are rather nice, unfortunately no one does the un covered wheels in 72nd.
Man this thread just got deserted for a couple of days!! Only about three weeks left!! 5-4-3.......
I know, shocking. Although after 20 pages for a GB that has started yet, I think we can be forgiven a couple of day's break
I'm still here. Itching to get started
