Looking at the info I have I cant find any markings on the fins. Have a look at the picture below

Thats forn the books Bish and I have been talking about, cant say its 100% right as I've seen people paint the bomb light blue not green as this shows.

Hope its some help

Quick update on my model. I'm applying decals currently and will take photos before the weathering starts. Has anyone noticed yellow lines on the fins of the centerline bomb. My instructions call for the forward edges to be painted for approx. 1/3 or so. It's easier to see what they call for so I'll include a pic of that as well. I just don't recall  ever seeing that before.

Thanks Bish! Don't worry too much about the 76. I've got plans.....................................................

Oh yeah............you meant the 79....yeah.....I AM  sweating that. I think I'll manage. Have to find a way to lay a pattern down first but I already have an idea for that too.

Ok dudes! Got the nose installed and the initial camoflage applied. I'll be painting the field applied RLM 79 next and then after that it's topside mask off time and then the bottom gets painted. A little unorthodox way but it's what I'm used to. I left the two "arrowhead" splinter patterns off of the cowl due to the field applied camo will cover those. Why make it harder right?

 Here's todays shots:

I will say this in closing this post. I sometimes wished I would have displayed the engine on this kit due to the fact that if you turn this thing upside down and look through the rear of the air cooler you see everything that aint there. True the back side of the air cooler is there but it looks like what it is. A blank hole with the back side of the air cooler makeshifted in there. Not cool! Would have been nice if Hasegawa would have made or molded in a makeshift engine block there a the minimum. But then again I'm not going to display this model upside down. lol

P.S.---Doug:You'll be happy to know that my bench is cluttered.............refer to the two tools at the lower R/H corner of the pic. I figured, "He'll be proud!" LOL

Looking good joe, be nice to see that nose on.

Bob, that's the joys of PE when a small metal part goes ping off your tweezers. I have given up even trying to look for them now.

Looking pretty good Joe, and good to hear you finally got the nose looking good with the primer.

I've been making some slow progress on the cockpit, I'm almost done.  I'm figuring out how to work with PE metal and it's not as challenging as I thought, and so far I've only lost one piece.  Hopefully I'll be able to get some bench time this weekend and get pics posted early next week.

Thanks Phil. I've got the Aero Detail book on this thing too if you need anything. I'm finding that info on this beast is very limited as opposed to a mainstream fighter like a 109 or 190.

Well guys I'm finally finished with the initial camo on the fuselage of this birdie. I'll be working on the nose section(which finally took the primer!!!!!) and then I'll be working on the field applied camo (which thank God there wont be much in the way of tape mask off).

Here's the latest shots:

and .................the other side!

I was checking Amazon, but its still not on there. If its not there next month, I may go direct as well.

I did spot this on Amazon though. I have a couple from this series, but hadn't spotted this one before. So I will be adding this as well.

LOL... Kit bashin is always an adventure but usually with some amazing results! No matter, what you have so far looks great as always! When I was painting helmets and MC tanks and fenders I kept a bottle of fish eye eleminator handy, you just cant imagine what a panic you would go through from just a speck of oil or such on a surface no bigger then the head of a pin. And no matter how good you clean, there is still a chance that you missed something. Any way, again, excellent work!

Thanks Doug! I'll giver her another soapin' down tonight. Something had to get on there. Of course during all the mix up of the THREE friggin' kits I have of this plane it is possible that I grabbed some parts from a box that I didn't wash initially. I've been building this kit in my typical fashion of leaving the nose off and working around it but it's getting to that point where I'm going to have to direct my attention to it.

More paintng today! I painted the starboard wing and then turned my attention to the rear fuselage area and rudder. What the goal is here is to apply most of the initial camo and then come back over it with the RLM79 as was done in the field.......................at least that's the plan. There are areas such as the rudder where you will see the pattern stop. This is just because I'll be covering that area with the 79. So with that here's today's progress.....................

Looks good Joe... as to the fisheye... I assume you washed in detergent and warm water, If that didnt help, try buffing with a mild scotch bright pad, wash in detergent and warm water again, then again with scotch bright this time dampened with denatured alcohol, then just wipe down with a dry soft clean cloth (Diaper or t shirt maybe?) I have never had any problems (Fish eye causes) survive that process. Im also asuming that your primer is ok? Did you use it on the rest of the kit?  Any way again, looking good what youve done.

Well I have now made two attempts to primer the nose section of this thing to no avail. Fish eyes are there after both attempts so with that I'm going to skip the primer and move on to the pre-shading after sanding this thing back down for the second time. Hopefully the acrylics will behave much better than the primer did. Fingers crossed...........

Now onto the good news with the progress. Since the nose is acting up I figured I'd make some progress on the base camo pattern for this thing. It looks like the tan RLM 79 was applied over the initial camo so that's how I'm going to do business here. So far this is what I have...........
