But he's a little shaky on time  and he's seeing things.  My stepmother seems to be holding down the fort. Will be calling her daily yo get updates

Well I have to head to Florida Sunday. My father isn't doing very well. Shattered his kneecap 2 weeks ago and is now very confused.  Hopefully its just side effects from the anesthesia.  Doctors are saying possible dementia.

Well I got up this morning and primed the nose. The primer did a nasty bubbling trick on me that left fish eyes all over the place so I'll enter the race again tomorrow after I've sanded the fisheyes out of the primer. As I've said in the past.......................that's modeling! lol

GAF... Thank you friend... I guess I just enjoy building so much (50 yrs worth) that its hard to stop! ha!

Mikey... Man, that splinter is very well done, I usually get a little overspyay around or under the mask but I dont see any on yours, nice sharp patterns and a good color match (opposing colors) Keep up the great work!

LOLOL...  Well I have been known to be juse a weeeee bit pig headed... LOL... Seriously, she being a true full blooded filipina born and raised on the Island of Luzon, makes her a natural caretaker and weve had discussions about how much care I needed being I had been divorced 20 years before she came along, Seems that she "thinks" that I need alot more looking after then I do! HA!!! And thank you Nathan for the compliment... coming from such a talanted individual as yourself, well, it does mean alot! If memory serves, your busy season is coming up soon... Be careful!

Shoot, even my wife knows better then to bother me when she either hears the compressor running or sees an airbrush in hand. She used to be bad about calling me for dinner over and over. I would pick up my plate, walk back out to my bench, set it down and keep painting! Lol...She learned that its futile to try to interupt me when painting!

Take care

Excellent build btw Doug. The whitewash turned out perfect. It really suits the Stuka. Good to see your talent here.

Doug all I can say to your comments about masks is: you said it brother! I remember when I used to paint them free hand with a brush. Anyway here's some pics of the new paint job. ......the work continues.

Yeah you told me about them... I'll bet they are a handfull! I just have a 16 yr old Siamese (Ragdoll) pig...er excuse me...Cat... yeah thats it a CAT! LOL...But she knows not to go near my bench. Caught her on my bench one time sleeping on a pile of what used to be a model... Shes still looking for the rest of what used to be her azz... lol. But really, she is 15 lbs, sweet as can be (long as shes the center of attention) and the best pet Ive ever had. More family then pet!

Mike... Masks, yes masks... masks GOOD! lol I'm learning. I have learned from the owner of the LHS to cut Tamiya tape into little shreads then just go over the edges and paint the center with the liquid mask... but I have used and do prefer the precut masks when I can locate them... Masks GOOD!!!

Take care all...

LOL... Thanks Joe, and I agree with you about the paint, you can build the most beautiful, flawless model and a poor paint job will make it lackluster and boring. The paint and finish tells the story of your model, many times you can just look at a kit and no words are required to understand the story your trying to tell.

I guess again that I'm just lucky enough to not have a lot of distractions.

Hi guys -- fabulous work going on here in so many builds!

Quick update -- I put in an order for masks and harness and luckily the harness was in stock at my local shop, so it's coming out by post as of tomorrow. That means I should be able to press on with the cockpit and general assembly tasks before too much longer. That's okay, I was working on three different kits today and five the day before, so things are all moving gradually along...

Well guys I've just about got the nose fully assembled. All I've gotta say is that I've done alot of work to the bottom side and the inside for boo boos that really show if you look into the back of the radiator/ cooling flap area. What a mess it was in there OOB. I've got most of the mess cleaned up in there and got the bottom of the nose mostly straightened out fit wise from just the two halves being assembled. The "overbite" between the two halves at the bottom of the nose was HORRIBLE and took a while to clean up and think it's now to an acceptable standard. I still have some work to do on the radiator to nose "overbite" but that aint NEAR what the nose halves were.  I installed the radiator and top cover this morning and have alot more work ahead of me as far as fit clean up while keeping in mind that the actual panel fit was not perfect.

and the top cover without any clean up yet:

I'm still working on the exhausts idea as I've got the squirrel running on the squeaky conveyer belt in my head. lol

There Doug goes again! The thing I like most about your builds is the paint and the speed at which you get that process done in. To me about 80% of the model quality is in the paint and weathering and you've definitely got that percentage down pat! Nice job Doug. Well, you've got a couple more to go for a Kette!  lol

P.S. At least you don't have to build a Staffel!! LOL

I didn't know they did different sizes of snow, I will have to look at that. I have a shaker of it but not used any yet. Thanks for the heads up.

AWWW thanks... You guys are too kjind. Reasoned, The wire of the antenna is ez line (fine) and the cones are 1mm brass tubing filed down on one end to make as conlcal as possible. I agree with you on the comparrisons too! I always said that if I could be a pilot my first choise of aircraft would be the "HOG". I like the look and the missions (ugly as they are).

Mikey, thanks... Yeah I'm kinda sorta semi retired (by choise) and have some extra time to build, along with the fact that my wife traveles from time to time with her job... that all adds up to extra build time!

Doug, you've certainly set the bar high with this one. Outstanding model and accomplished incredibly quick as well. The setting you created for it makes it look even more realistic; thanks for the photos!

Wow Doug, that is a sight to behold, great work!  Your antenna wire is terrific, along with the finish and diorama.  I must say, the Stuka was the "Warthog" of WWII, ugly but effective in a deadly way.

Thanks Nathan!  I just checked their website and they don't make the decals in 1/72.  So I guess I'll use the instrument panel in the kit, which isn't a big deal since it has decent detail.

Thanks all... Its nice to have your peers critique your work, I thank you all.

Bish, the snow is Woodland Scenic brand and I believe it was the 000scale, I chose this size (they make about 5 sizes) to not only fit the scale of the kit but it also looks as if it melted slightly then refroze so as to look frosty. I am already planning the next one, likely a Trop version, but have another commitment before begining. Wont be long though... I will be looking in on the other fine work going on here!

The general rule is to order instrument decals one scale smaller than the kit, as actual instrument panels in the kits aren't to scale, but the decals are.

Awesome work Doug!

I've finally had some time to think about getting started on my Stuka.  I noticed that my PE set didn't include any dials or gauges for the instrument panel, so I ordered a set of generic Luftwaffe from Airscale thinking I could put them in and move on.  When they arrived I compared them to the holes in the instrument panel and only the smallest decals fit the largest holes.  Is this common?  Should I have ordered the 1/72 set instead?  Just looking to see if anyone has advice for working with the decals.  If push comes to shove I can use the instrument panel in the kit (which is the most detailed interior part of the kit) and just attach the PE levers to it and I think it'll look fine.
