Snap... Excellent finish! I'm taping and painting canopy now and just hope mine comes out half as well as yours, I already put the first coat of paint and what a freaking nightmare. Also most ofthe air brushs you get from Ebay or the likes are pretty good, not an Iowata or Passche but still good for the money,

Bish, the sirens are kinda iffy for me, I've seen with one, two, one with the other removed, or still there but farred over or both removed or farred over. So I decided to use 1 and remove the other and smooth down the remains. I figured building a 1940 "B" (R-2) it would have had atleast one, I believe that I've read somewhere that late war models didnt use any longer.

Does that sound right to you Bish?, knower of all things Stuka? Lol and I mean that as a compliment, you are very knowledgeable on the Ju87.

Seems everyone is having fit issues. I guess the model companies are not putting to much effort into there Stuka's. Nice work Phil.

So done some work today, working on the radiator covers etc. Pictures below

I've done some other things in the cockpit but that's all pretty standard. I must say the fit of the photetch is awful, there is no way they measured the kit before they made those flaps, if they did they removed a whole lot of styrene to get hem to fit and i wasn't going to go that far. Still it cant get any worse that this form now on, I hope

Sounds perfect for some one new to airbrushing. For years I was using a cheap single flow badger and air cans. No point spending loads of money until your comfortable and happy an airbrush is for you.

By all means use the photo. I have no problems with that

The airbrush set is very good for the price. the air/paint lever is a bit stiff and not as smooth as I would like, but it does provide value for money, especially as I am a total novice and just starting out into airbrushing. It seems to be a generic unnamed brand and they can be found on ebay in a wide variety of sets.

I think that I will get a more expensive one when I have gained confidence, but at the moment this one is fine.

Nice work on the landing light Mustang. I might have to try and find something that will work in 72nd, I normally just paint the inside if the light silver, but I think even in the smaller scale that will look better.

I am still in two minds about getting one of those, but I have plenty to keep me going so I'm in no rush.

Grab your badge and don't forget to add your Kette badge. If its ok with you, I will use the second pic for the front page.

How was the airbrush, theres a lot there for that price.

Hi chaps

Here we go with the last two photos of my build.

This particular build was always going to be just an OOB build as a test bed for me to work out how to use an airbrush and to try and sort out one or two other techniques as well.

In the main I have sorted out the airbrush. It is a cheap Chinese one Here is the photo of the set. Cost me just a little over £30. It comes with a 0,2, 0.3, and 0.5 needle sets, a couple of paint cups, hose etc.

Yes... I have a compressor too!

So I am calling this build complete. It has served it's purpose.

This trumpeter kit is not too bad but it does have flaws. You do need the correction kit for the cowling and spats but I am unclear if the engine (which is very good and detailed) will fit into the correction set cowling, which like the trumpeter kit makes no option to display the engine at all. The dive brake mounts seem to me to be slightly too big and make the dive brakes themselves stand too far away from the wing. Maybe the mounts need shortening.

The cockpit is quite detailed just OOB but Eduards' update set(s) for this aircraft will make the office so much better. I had a faux pas with some of the decals as I was trying out Vallejo's decal medium and fix, and not understanding what the aim is with this stuff some decals are very ropy!

I actual fact, the decal set, although incorrect with some of the national insignia are very good and in register.

Here are the last two photos. I have taken them outside with the intention of showing the actual chip colours for the RLM70/71/65 colour scheme for the Battle of Britain.

Do I get my badge now? Big Smile

If you are prepared to throw extra money at this kit you can come out with a masterpiece as the detailing, riveting and panel lines are very very good and well done.

Ok folks. While I'm thinking on a solution to my oil reservoir open panel dilema I thought I may as well start working on the landing light in the wing. I robbed one of those circular/ cylindrical tabs you see on automotive model windshields. You know the ones we always break off and throw in the trash? Yeah that one! I broke one off and sanded it down into a true cylindrical shape and knocked some of the length off of it in trying to give it true/ flat surfaces on both sides. After that I painted the back of it silver. I found a piece of resin stock that I wasn't using and trimmed that up to where it could fit between the wing halves, painted it and installed it as the mount for the light. Kind of like this:

Now this is what the kit will have you do as far as wing installation. I don't really know why Hasegawa and subsequently Revell  didn't include some sort of landing light here because the lack of it sure shows!!

and this is just after glueing the upper and lower wing halves together with the landing light in there.Makes you wonder why they didn't include this in the build doesn't it? I dunked the wing lens/ clear cover in Future floor polish and set it aside. I'll use the "sacrificial" lens from the spare kit as the mask when painting.

Monogram kit all over the place, von Hammer would be very proud. Nice to see this started Tom, and figures in there to boot.

OK, as threatened, I've started.

The Monogram figures in this kit are hideous.  The pilot looks like a goblin.  But, in keeping with the plan I used them in my build many years ago, so they're in.  I didn't put a lot of effort into the interior because last time, for whatever reason, I built it with the gunner cockpit closed.  So between that and having the ugly pilot in the cockpit,  thankfully, most of the interior will be hidden.

But here's some pics.  (BTW, really great builds starting here.  I'm amazed at how quick and good you guys are!)

Well heres what I've been able to get done this weekend,

Got the pre shading done this morning...

I was going to do a full splinter, but decided against it. Would have been a waste of time and supplies.

And the sky grey on the bottom. And thats about all for now... I will try to do more this week time allowing, and I think this is susposed to be a light week...Take care till then!

O yes, they don't make things easy to they. I do like the results Aires give, but they make you work for it. The only time I have had a pit fit in without a struggle is when the resin wasn't designed for that specific kit.

Thanks Bish and it aint the Hasegawa end I don't think. I strongly believe it's because of all the AM add ons. We'll get around it though.

Incidentally the light was one of those circular "break offs" on a windshield I had in a model car kit. lol

I just trimmed the thickness down a little and mounted the spare resin piece into place to where the light would sit perfect in the wing lens.

Thanks Doug. I had two update kits for this one. An Aires set and the Verlinden set. Out of the two the Verlinden was cheaper. It has less detail and requires a whole lot more work to get the results out of, however, for the money I spent on the Aires kit I expected an easier time to get the results I wanted. Oh well, that's what I get for setting expectations!! lol

Ok folks it's update time! I've been working my butt off on this thing and it's mostly been the fit issues I've been having out of the piece that the windscreen and IP adhere to. The fit was terrible! Lots of sanding to remedy those fit issues. I'm still sort of confused about the oil reservoir opening area. I'm thinking of filling the front of the opening where the wall seems to stop short with filler and re-working that whole area. I installed the "top cap " cover at the rear of the cockpit at the rear gunners station. My hopes were to install the ammo drum racks but the jicky thingy that Aires supplied didn't allow for the ammo drum dumpster on the L/H side of the cockpit and they wouldn't fit right. Honestly I'd had enough of refitting and modifying to cover for the lack of foresight on Aires  part and just installed the top cap. The way I see it , I have enough detail showing here as it is and the back part there won't be missed.

As for the wings I'm still having a blast with those, in a good way I mean. I installed the wing machine gun internals after painting and weathering and installed a foam pad on top for added insurance. How many times have we installed something like this, jarred the plane, and the whole part just fall inside the wing, fuselage, tail fin......you get the picture. Just for my piece of mind anyways. The other rectangular resin piece is to mount a landing light in this otherwise blank space. The landing light is on the L/H side of the clothespin and the wing lens that was just dipped in future is off to the right. I'll be putting all of this stuff together here when the silver backing dries overnight. I'm going to go ahead and apply some future over the glass on the front of the light as well.

and a view of the wing gun detail all painted and weathered up here:

LOL... Revellagawa...LOL... Not really sure Joe, but your more then likely right. I dont know though, could be a Hasavell kit, LOL...Really, I have built some of the "ProModeler" kits and found "Dragon" on the sprue shot bag, but nothing on this one so I'll bet your right. Thanks all, Bish, TJ, Clemens... I'm kinda excited about the finish I've chosen for the winter scheme I'm doing. If it comes out anywhere close to what I've envisioned I'll be happy! The markings will be highly suspect (translate to read fictional) But that will be the only Thing that wont be within the pictures and studies I've done. She will be one of the 39 sent to Denmark & Norway in the winter of 39/40 to fight the "Phoney War". I found a really cool picture of a whitewashed R2 that was nearing spring and the wash was really showing is wear over the long hard winter. Thanks again,,,
