The list has been updated.

Stik, welcome to the group build! Just let me know what scale and the kit you're gonna use.

Phil, it's good to have you here for this one too.

Shiv, that model will be so cool when its finished.

Eagle, going in for the whole experience, I see. Armor, painting, weathering, more weathering, figs. NICE! No toe-dipping here.

LOL!  You know, I did the Automotive GB (first vehicle I've done), have done the Figure GB (looking to get McCoy and Spock soon), and I have done aircraft, spacecraft, and Sci-Fi, so I'm thinking your next GB should be something with ships!!!!  Haven't done one of those yet!  Wink

I appreciate the stretching into areas of modeling I have not done.  Now heavy armor with figs!

WOW, 14 entries already, that's good going.

Eagle, don't start giving them ideas, I'm not sure Tim and Aaron could handle the strain. Wink

...I wasn't able to find any other kit of the late A2 with the 47° frontal plate. The only problem with that kit is that the suspension is from the ancient Italeri kit and has some noticeable issues. Add the fact that Dragon doesn't supply the "disc-type" roadwheels needed for my project. I'll probably have to buy one of the Tasca suspension sets in order to get some good looking bogies with the correct roadwheels...

I don't know if you've come across TMD but they have an insane amount of resin upgrade/components for the Sherman. I have ordered couple items from them and they ship rather quickly and the parts are well molded. http://www.newtmd.com/Products

Clemons: Great kit there, I'm sure you'll enjoy it - Tasca/Asuka is like the Rolls Royce of Sherman kits. Some good stuff Deattilio listed there but frankly the Tasca kit doesn't really need much of anything other than maybe some aftermarket storage and I'm not sure a captured tank would even have that.

Cliff: The only thing from Tasca I'm going to use for this build is going to be their suspension set. The Dragon kit doesn't look too bad though aside from the suspension having the wrong roadwheels and generally looking rather bad compared to other Dragon products. It looks like this particular sherman had a bit of stowage on the engine deck, but nothing fancy, so I'll probably just throw a bit of generic stuff on there to add some interest.

deattilio: Thanks a bunch for that link! That company makes some really awesome stuff! I probably won't use any of their stuff for this build (maybe the replacement transmission housing since the Dragon parts have some fit issues), but I did spot some good stuff that might be useful in the future (new roadwheels for my AFV M36 and M10, some nice bits to add to that old Dragon Easy-8,...)

Ah sorry Clemons, misunderstood. I haven't used any of their suspension set kits- I'm the type that thinks 'if I coat the running gear in enough caked on mud no one can tell if it's not right.'

OK...at the risk of being pummeled unmercifully by you guys again (and you know who you are...Tim... Wink ), I'm thinking of joining up.  I have a lot I want to learn about armor modeling, and this should be the place to do it.

Question: would an Israeli M2 Scout Car or a hot-rodded halftrack be allowable by the powers that be, or are you trying to stick to the big guns (and tracks) only?  'Cause I could maybe see a former British halftrack, built in America, that wound up in Israel and then sent to Lebanon.  How more orphaned can you get?...

Chuck: I really liek the idea of that Israeli scout car!

Cliff: I think the Tasca suspension sets are basically the suspension sprues from their normal shermans and I've heard great things about those kits. I don't really want to throw too much mud on the suspension and I'll need the disc road wheels anyway, so I figured I could use the Tasca set anyway Wink

I'm not giving any hints about future GBs until this one's finished. Just know that we already have two more lined up for 2015.

Any AFV is good with us, so long as the markings ain't from the country of origin. So, a scout car would be awesome.

Tim I'm sorry I didn't include my kit, it's the Tamiya King Tiger II in 1/35.

Tim-Sign me up please (maybe I'll have the Green Goblin finished by the start date....)

Not sure what I'm going to build yet.....too many options in the stash...

One question-would the Firefly be considered under the guidelines?

Thanks

bob, the Germans did use at least one captured Firefly.

Edit: I just realised, you could well mean in its normal British markings.

"Did we put enough crosses on there?"

"I don't know... Better paint on some more just to make sure..."

Bob: I don't think a normal Firefly in British markings would fit the rules, but that's up to Tim...

Here is what I’ll be modeling, the first couple pictures were taken during Exercise Cobra Gold ’93 and the remaining during Exercise Freedom Banner ’02.  I will be doing one of the earlier LVTP7s as seen in the last photo but will add the white and red identification as seen on the P7A1s for a splash of color; I've seen them in images on the web, just don't have any in my collection.

Bob! I'd love to add Goblin to the Hall of Fame, too.

A Firefly would work so long as it wasn't in British markings.

Hi Modeler#1,

There's still plenty of time to join up between now and August. We'd love to have you along if you decide you definitely want in.

My LHS only had the initial VVSS set from Tasca, so they ordered me one. It has to be imported from Japan though, which means it'll take quite a while to get here... They're going to import a bunch of shermans as well while they're at it (including a few Easy-8s). I didn't know about half of the kits Tasca produces. Kinda shows you how much of the good stuff gets imported to Austria... Hmm
