AS, that looks real sharp! Especially on the flight deck base with the vehicles! Thanks for joining in this GB! She has been added to the front page roster.

I gotta say though, you would think that this was an Air War GB with the lack of ground subjects in completed builds. I guess that I better get my 113 finished up...

Actually I don't know why I said hasegawa. I am sure they don't do the USN equipment. I know Verlinden do resin ones and its Fujimi that do the plastic ones.

My last 2 builds were 1/24th scale birds and going back to 48th I had to squint a bit while working on the Corsair. I normally will add much more details to a kit but time was against me as I was wrapping up on my last GB.  The two support equipment been in a parts box for some 25 plus years??? The tractor is resin and I believe was from Verlinden and I can't remember who made the bomb loader. I do remember using them in a dio with the Hasegawa A-7 parked next to a couple of F-4's.

Very impressive build Scott-your attention to detail, especially the ordinance, pays off.

I'm going to call it this one done here. The Hobby Boss kit is okay but I do prefer the Hasegawa model as I feel it's has better details to the kit. This was out of the box, were I to purchase this one again I will get a resin cockpit. The decals were very good, laid down with no issues using the Micro-Set and Sol. Paints were MM enamels and the bird was a test bed for my new Badger Krome AB which is great!

The MK-83's and the M-177's are from the Hasegawa Weapons set, the M-82's came from the kit. I used a toothpick to do the data info on the bombs, hand brushed the stripes.

I had done pre and post shading which looks good to the eye but the camera is showing the bird much cleaner than it is.

Thanks for hosting the build, I enjoyed following all the builds here's, winners all.

Happy Modeling

Scott

Sounds good to me AS. I got in a few minutes of bench time with my 113 this morning and got a bit more work knocked out: lead foil tie down straps added to the rear Jerry cans, and then I glued them in place. I also got the tow cable on the ramp painted. On my days off this week I just might get around to finishing this way overdue project...

I'm just about finish on the A-7. Decals are on, still need to smooth out the scratches on the canopy in my attempt to remove the mold seam down the center. Got the bombs painted and adding them to the racks now. Figure tomorrow if I don't have any interruptions I should wrap her up tomorrow or Weds.

Very nice work indeed Pawel-looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Stik-I'm throwing in the towel-even with an extension, I don't know when I'll have the Super Sabre complete-started painting but now I'm debating on adding PE or not....I am planning on using it as my second build for the MM III though-I've got until Sept. 30 to finish it....

Sorry for the withdraw-hopefully the Vietnam Era GB will become a regular-too much history to not be revisited.  Thanks for hosting and running a great GB.

Hello!

So here's the next update - it was time to do some decaling. The kit I have gives you two paint options:  VAQ-131, AB-615 from the Mediteranean cruise and the VAQ-130, NG-614 from 1972. As can be expected in a Vietnam War GB, I wanted to do a Vietnam bird, and I found two photos of the VAQ-131, NH-615, BuNo 142403 from 1968/69 cruise, which was similar to the AB-615, so I decided to develop my own decals using the kit decals as dimensional help. That's what I did and a little companyfrom Poland called Malius Manu printed those decals for me. The biggest challenge was to get thin gray and white partition lines between some markings and the black stripes on the tail. In hindsight it would be best to mask the apropriate areas off at painting the stripes - but I didn't do that. My idea was to incorporate those gray and white borders in the decal - it worked with white, but wasn't doable for gray. So I did something else - I masked off and painted the right shapes on a clear decal sheet:

Then I put them on the model:

When this was dry, I put the decals on:

While not perfect, I'm quite satisfied with the results. The declas from Melius Manu react well to the mix of Micro Sol/Set, Mr Mark Softer and Solvaset - working withthem is a pleasure.

So now I'm putting the remaining decals on - hope you liked it, thanks for reading and have a nice day

Oh you'll be able to see most of the interior. I'll open it all up during the flat coat and before final weathering...

Stik-the 113 is looking very good-it's just a shame that all of the work that went into the interior isn't visible.

Looking forward to the weathered version.

Archangel, I would suggest you try to find some AIM-9Ds for your SLUF. The Navy replaced the 9B fairly early on in Vietnam and the 9D was the type most commonly seen in photos when Sidewinders were carried...

Extension? Whew...I'm plugging away on the A-7. Got the gull grey and white applied. Mers are put together and needs painting.  Doing some sanding on the canopy seam that's right down the middle of the canopy.

Found one of the Hasegawa weapons sets and will be using a couple of the Mk-84's....go big! Also dug up a pair of Aim-9B Sidewinders, the kit has what appears to the the Aim-9M

The kit drop tanks are something I've never seen on an A-7 and looks odd so I may use a pair from the Monogram A-6 kit depending on the load-out I pick

Scott.

OK, any projects already started and needing an extension are covered...

As for me, I am still chugging along with little bits of work here and there on my project. I have a wash on and have continued with detail painting of items on my 113

Pawel-nice work on the detail-I'm not sure I am committed enough to apply all of the stencils of a modern plane.

Stik-an extension would be much appreciated-I've finally got all of the extras & paints for my Thud and have no travel plans for the next few weeks.  If not, no problems-I'm still planning on building it for the Monogram Mafia.

That's exactly how it is - Hasegawa supplies technically accurate decals for the undercarriage parts in this kit.

Thanks for your comment and have a nice day!

Ye, I really do like that. I take it those are decals on the legs and in the bay, not seen that before. It adds a really nice bit of detail.

If we get enough interest for an extension I would not mind at all.
