Awesome detail and paintwork, I just hate when they go unnoticed when they're all buttoned up. I guess it's not unlike us armorers who complete an interior and close the hatch…What were we thinking.

Rob S.

I finally have some work to show of my 1/72 Hasegawa F-4B...

Beautiful cockpit. I have the same kit and PE set in my stash. Nice to see what I can look forward too. If the rest of the kit looks as good, it's gona be a real eye popper. Can't wait to see the completed model!

Wayne, I totally agree.

I always say " If you are not strong you need to be clever" LOL

I am now actually busy with a 1/72 new tool Airfix DH-82a....this thing is tiny!

Theuns

I am affraid that the competition is of such high standards that I have very little chance, and even just placing under the top 3 will be a huge chalange!

The 1/48 jets is ALWAYS a very difficult class to come anywhere  near the top 10 even, therefore I also did the 1/144 Connie  and the Apache....aswell as wanting to do the 1/72 F-18.These classes are usually less well reprisented so I am cheating in a way LOL.

Theuns

i don't consider that cheating at all, as long as you enjoy the building in the "lesser" categories. i usually don't compete in cars, aircraft, figures, tanks or dioramas (because they are time intensive). i do compete in commercial trucks , towed artillery, miscellaneous (RR stuff), wheeled armor and unarmored, and now in 1/72 since i had a couple of wins this year. and i like building in all of these categories and have enough stash.

I am trying to complete a few models for the MOY, that is why I am pushing a bit :-)

Usually my pace is allot slower

As for the Academy 1/72 F-18c I have read some good reviews on it and from what I can see in the box the detail looks cool.I just don't like the kit's decals much. I got a set of super scale VMFA-312 Checker tails.

I got the 1/2 set of decals for about $1.25 so I hope they are nice to work with, I don't know these decals.

Like I said, Theuns, you are on 'FIRE', right on!! I was actually looking for a USMC F-18 the other day in Toronto, but, I think I'll have to get one in Montreal in the new year.

Hi Josiah

Since there is still loads of time for this GB please sign me up for a 1/72 Academy F-18c in USMC scheme. Not sure if I will use the kit or AM decals yet....

Thanx

Wow, some great work going on here!

Jibber - great looking track! Too many wheels for me.

Rob - love the Phantom!  Have one in the stash, but have never  built one. Need to move it up on the list.

Rob thats some fantastic looking aircraft, I know how much time you put in to cockpit, do you think you could do a close up? I think with the two canopies open that would be a nice shot and thats such a cool paint job, a big salute on that one.

Thanks Sarge, it was a fun build for sure. Plan on doing another Phantom in 2015 for sure. My LHS has about 60ish in stock, so, easy for me to get.

Good 'Marines' news coming from Airfix in 2015: Hawker Sidley AV-8A Harrier in 1:72!! I doubt it'll surface in time for the end of this GB, but, I'm hopeful!!

Thanks Travis..I couldn't tape off the bombs anyway due to the taper of each, so, that necessitated the quick jig.

Rob and Jibb great jobs!! That phantom is awesome! I especially liked the bomb paitning jig, might have to try that since taping is so tedious (especially in 1/72). That anphib looks like a beast and the anchor and globe is great!

I should have some pics up of my m-60 tomorrow. Finished to hull and wheels last week. I was also waiting for my Black Dog set to arrive for the stowage. Now I have all the pieces in place so the building can pick up a little.

Hard to believe that's a 72nd scale model, Rob. It reads larger in the photos - really excellent all the way around!

I'm still a TBD on the opening page, and will probably stay that way until after the first . In my wife's house there are only eleven months, January thru November, and then there's Christmas. Seriously, lot's of great work going on in here; looking forward to getting involved.

Happy Holidays to all!

Mike
