I got a coat of primer on, then saw I had to fix a few seams. Puttied and sanded and re primed.

Tons of progress:

Wing hard-points, antennas et.al., engine air brakes, landing gear, drop tanks. Shrikes on deck, waiting for paint to set.

Very nice job! She looks like she's ready to go on a bombing run.

That Thud is awesome looking ! Here is where I am with the 106 so far:

Got the majority of decals in place. Just the undersides need assembling and fuel tanks added.

B1..awesome!! I'm a big fan of the HUGE USAF markings on these classic planes. I've decided to go that route as well with my 102.

I got a coat of Tamiya aluminum on the Dagger today. Does anyone have any info on the 102's that

the astronauts flew in project Mercury? I'm going on the assumption that it is the aluminum with the black

stripe down the side with the meatball on the side.

Almost ready to mount 4 x AGM-45 Shrike anti radar missiles:

I'm calling this Thud Done!! I had a good time with this Trumpeter kit. Some things that I observed. The overall molding of the kit was excellent, except, the missiles. For some reason, the missiles needed a lot of clean up as there was residual plastic and flash. I know my brown is not right. I was hoping to soften up the value of the brown with post shading, but, I defeated my effort with the oil washes. It brought the brown down too much and I find it's way too dark for the period. I chose to pose the rear engine air brakes open, simply because, they were too friggin' cool not to!! Very unusual configuration and I wanted to show that neat feature. All landing gear doors were too thick. I really don't know how guys thin out such things, but, I imagine a rotary tool? I left them be. I hope my pics does it justice. I am overall pleased with its outcome.

So, that's her. Switching gears and getting back on the F-102. It's been a challenge so far as I'm not used to using enamels so I am giving it a lot of time to dry. Stay tuned!!

Rob that is a good looking 105 there! Almost makes me want to start my 1/48 Thud!  (But I need to be diciplined and complete the other first!! LOL)

I have basically reached the stage on my 104 's fuselage where all is buttoned up and close to being ready for paint.

I am still in tw minds if I will complete the painting of all components and then assemble, or assemble and try to mask off wings ect for painting......

I'm going to let the paint cure, then mask and paint the black stripe.

Mach..that's gonna be friggin' awesome in NM!! That is my fav era of jet fighters..the NM era. Love em and have lots' in my collection. I have yet to try metalizers, but, will someday, but, prob on a larger scale 1/32 bird, probably a 104.

Theuns..welcome back and thanks. Somewhat happy with my Thud, but, next time I try Vietnam era paint, I will try to get my colours mixed to better hues. I ended up with more of a NATO tri-colour. Anyway, it was fun and now I'm simplifying a paintjob on that uni-coloured 102.

That paint is plain old Tamiya aluminum. From a rattle can. It looks very nice. I was going to use my airbrush but I've had great luck painting phasers with the tamiya I figured I'd give it a try.

I'm very happy with the results, no buffing required. I have used the model masters buffing metalizer in the past with good results.

If the roll is still open, I'd like to join up with a Monogram F-100 and/or a Monogram F-101 in 1/48th scale....What do you think??

Wow, you guys are moving at the speed of light with your builds and all looking great.

Finally was able to spray the Voodoo.

I shot Testors gloss black in the small bottle

Then shot Alclad polished aluminum then masked and picked off some panels with Alclad white aluminum. The flash reflected off the polished Alclad making things brighter than in reality.

It looks like actual metal

The tanks are very shiny

I still have to pick out some more panels and mask for the darker exhaust area at the lower rear of the fuselage. This is very time consuming but the results are super! The trick to Alclad is not to use any putty, polishing out the plastic helps and a glass smooth gloss primer application is a must.

I definitely want to get in on this! But I want to finish up a couple of other GB's first! I'm pretty "stretched out" right now!!  

Wow plasticj, that is spectacular. It really is not that difficult, eh? I gotta bite on this. I think the challenge for me though is getting the products.  Not easy to find at my local HS.

Wiccan..we are going till May 15, so, lot's of time!!
