Thanks Bish on the painting color tip, I don't have vallejo colors so I'm working on lighting up tamiya's XF-58 Olive Green. Earlier I mixed XF58 with XF66 light grey, it is close to your figure's smocks.
Checkmateking: Yeah that ground level view makes the aircraft look huge.
Iron Annie is fully assembled and compete. Put on final touch up painting this morning, not use about attaching the ladder it comes off to easy when you sit the aircraft down. I plan to airbrush Model Master Acrylic clear gloss on the topside later day, then do the bottom tomorrow.
The Junkers Ju52 was featured on a episode of Wings of the Luftwaffe, you can view the episode on youtube.
On my Work Bench: Tamiya Ford GT 1/24
Up Coming: ?
The figures will add a lot of life to the plane, Dan.
And that's a really impressive camera angle for the photo.
Can't wait to see that with the figures Dan. For those jump smocks i use vallejo 886 green grey. Its a bit lighter than the image yopu have there, but seems to be a good match to the real thing.
This is how it looks of the 72nd troops i did last year for my DFS 230 build.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
Thanks Checkmateking: The secret to those straight lines is tamiya tape.
Thanks Rob. S: Those thick decals seem to be common with the Airfix kits. Built two of there 1/72 spitfires, those decals didn't lay in the recessed areas well. Or over bumps.
I can see the finish line now, Iron Annie is getting closer to being ready for decals. The kit comes with four Fallschirmjager's, came across a drawing of 1940's figures to help with painting. The Center engine with cover is attach along with the left engine, more pictures of that later.
Excellent work Dan.
Yes the Cartograph decals are very thick. Decal solvent doesn't do much to soften em up. Very flat surfaces so I didn't worry much on this project.

On the Bench: Nothing on the go ATM
Thanks Checkmateking & Bish.
Hoggarth: Nice work on the chassis and fuel tank.
Thanks Rob: I know what you mean about the tape pealing up the paint, that happen to me many times on my Ju-52. Did you have any trouble with the decals? The ones for my airfix spitfires were a little thick. Great finish and excellent job on your Heinkel He 111. Think I might add one to my collection.
Putting some final touches on the Ju-52. Have both left and right engines installed, hopefully I can get the center one attached today. The left wing engine covers need some filling, cut a piece of styrene to replace a part I broke off on top of the left engine.
Rob: I used the second last photo. I looked a bit brighter and showed the colors better--at least on my monitor. I hope that's OK.
So the front page is now updated.
Thanks again for your participation. It was great to have you along with us for the ride!
Great job Rob! That's really a beautiful Heinkel. Well done!
jgeratic Hi Rob, a fine example of the Heinkel bomber, you have a really fantastic build here. So what brand/source did the swastika come from? regards, Jack

Jack, the swastikas are from AeroMaster Decals. I got the massive sheet from my LHS here in Ottawa, Ontario.
Wow, Rob, that came out great! It looks like it's 1/48 with the great paintwork you put into it and the detail. Nicely done. I always liked the profiles of those planes.

Superb build Rob, love the look of that and it was great seeing it come together. Definatly got to get one.
So, she's done. She's a Heinkel He111 P-2 from 6./Kampfgeschwader 55 'Greif', Villacoublay, France, 1940. What a great kit. Big shout out to Airfix on this one. What a treat to build! I only had the one construction error and I didn't like the fit of the side windows, but, other than that she pretty much fell together. Thanks for following and I'll be moving back to the Going BIG GB and finally get my 1/32 WNW plane done. Keep up the good work over here and I'll be looking in often!
Got the oil wash done today while I was home for lunch. It went rather well. the extra deep Airfix panel lines allow such easy capillary action of the oil, it went fast. Anyway here's the last pics till the finished pics next.
I followed this up with a decanted spray can of enamel dull coat. I like to decant it to airbrush as it's the exact consistency and I have max control. Anyway, the finished pics are next up.
Ye, thats loking really nice Rob.
She's getting close now. Props on, decals on. Waiting for them to set, then I'll clear coat it again. I will do some light oil washing for the panel lines and some minor grime, then, dull coat the lot.
True Bish, true
I don't use Tamiya acrylics for schemes often, but when i have, i had no issues with it peeling.
Rob, i can see what you mean about that looking like a well worn japenese aircraft. But you know how it goes, i bet if you tried it, it would not peel at all.
Not for me. Tamiya acrylics have yet to fail me against bare plastic. If I hadn't put down the layers of Tamiya, the entire project would have been a loss as the masking tape would have pulled every bit of paint off. Now, interestingly, IF you are, say, doing a WW2 Japanese fighter that was prone to paint loss, perhaps, that would be a good technique using MM paints? I dunno...anyway, got her patched up and the first coat of Future on. Letting that set up, second coat, and tomorrow, decals.
That does not sound god does it. I use enamels myself. Normally i would ask if your leaving the first layer long enough to dry, but i know you would. the way it comes off, it does just look like the paint does not adhere properly in places.
Bish Rob, great job on the splinter, a bit of a bugger about that pant lifting. I take it this is a common problem.

Hoggarth, nice to see you underway, and i am sure that seam will look fine with a touch of sanding. Seams have always been my weak point.
Getting quite a bit done this weekend. The tri-colours are down. OF COURSE, true to form, MM Acryl let me down, a bit. After 2 coats of primer and a pre-shade, the tape still pulled off some paint. See pics below. Anyway, I'm happy with the effect so far. Pre and Post shade done.
