Hmmm, That's not quite what I expected out of a warplane, looks like it belongs in my granddaughter's toy box. Very interesting.

Seriously though, great job getting it done in 48 hours. As far as I can tell it looks like tons of work, I hope my Seafury doesn't give me as much trouble as your build.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

and we are off and running... at least a few folks here are... I am trying to decide which kit to build in my stash. I have it narrowed down to a few choices. Ah well, no need to make up my mind yet. Nice work on the Rafale so far! Or is that a Typhoon?

Thanks lewbud

I think that the second photo is my choice. Glad to have done something a bit off track. I didn't want to spoil the surprise with a box top shot at the start!

Thanks modelcrazy,

I have no doubt that the frog Sea Fury will be plenty of work (I have their Do335) but I am sure it will be in the plastic cutting/rebuilding/sanding and filling. I don't recall their being too many decals in the frog kits...

Thanks stikpusher, it's a Rafale, the naval version, as you can tell from the camo...

Thanks E90, 48 hours seems like a lot until you underestimate the time needed for masking, decaling, painting, sleeping, eating, family, and all that other stuff..

Looking forward to seeing the other kits coming out.

OK.  Six hours down.  It doesn't look like I have done much.  Lots of dry fitting and cleaning up of parts.  The starboard wing has 1990 cast into it and the molding shows it.  I think there was enough flash to make a second kit.

i1296.photobucket.com/.../PB220918_zps6de93c9e.jpg

Anyhow, main gear are together.

i1296.photobucket.com/.../PB220922_zpsb45ce5cf.jpg

Cockpit and sidewalls had to be painted that strange Russian Gray/Green.  Took forever to dry enough to continue.  Started to paint panels and dry brush some switchgear and add some color.

More to follow.  Drying time is killing me!  Next installment should show some significant progress.

YES!!  There IS a Weekend Madness GB this year!!

The last few months model building has taken a back seat to work and trout fishing, but both are winding down now so I finally have some free weekends coming up.  As I was cleaning up the work bench in preparation for some kit work I realized that it was that time of year....WEEKEND MADNESS!!  I've participated in the last three WM GBs, so here I am ready to join!

Lew, put me down for this for the weekend of 12/5-12/7:

Being a Tamiya kit it should build up pretty quickly and best of all......NO TRACKS!!

If the Sd.Kfz 223 ends up a total fail, then my backup plan is to do this the following weekend:

I'm not sure why I have this in the stash since I'm a treadhead and haven't built an AC kit for 40 years, but its1/72, called "EASY ASSEMBLY" and has a low parts count, so I figure it should build up in a snap!

Bring on the MADNESS!

Here we are.  This is the state of my Frogfoot 22 and a half hours into the build.  Ready to move into the paint booth after I mask the canopies.

i1296.photobucket.com/.../PB220923_zps3721d00e.jpg

I have built up the weapons but I'm not sure if I will use them.  They are pretty basic shapes and not much more.

i1296.photobucket.com/.../PB220924_zps43b53cdf.jpg

The main and nose wheels have been painted up and are ready for install.

i1296.photobucket.com/.../PB220925_zpse549cfb0.jpg

As the primer dries I will continue on with the bang seat.

i1296.photobucket.com/.../PB220926_zps8a663fa7.jpg

Paint next.  Gonna be close!

More to follow.

Welcome to our merry little band Ernest!Propeller  If you go the route of the Hobby Boss, either cut the assembly pegs in the fuselage or shave them down.  You'll get a better fit that way.

Here is my entry. Its a testors 1/48 F8F bearcat (old hawk mold). It has a chrome plated finish on it. I dont have any decals that came with it, so I am going to have to rely on my decal scraps to finish this build. I will start it on sunday the 23 of nov. Will post when I begin it.

OK.  Sorry for the delays.  Airbrush took a crap, needed a quick rebuild, then camera died and needed a few hours of charging.  I am still however pressing on.  Jet is in paint shed with all 5 colors now laid on.  I have to say that these new (to me) Akan paints will take some getting used to.  Probably was not the best idea to first use them on this build.  Also in the interest of time, I am trying to fade and blotch up the paint on the fly, which is also a first for me.  I need to let it dry down for a while before final touch-ups.

Thanks for the info on posting images.  Seems to work better.

Less than 2 hours to go.  She is on her feet and in decals now.  Thankfully there are not near as many as that Rafale!  Don't have time to post pics right now.  Gonna be close!

Thanks for the kind words and good luck to you B1 fixer.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls lend me your eyes! For those who are still sitting on the fence (and why would you want to?  Those pointy things hurt your butt!), lostagain led off with a stunning pink Rafael M that has more decals than most kits have parts!  Caveman is in the homestretch with a mean looking Su-25 Frogfoot, and B_one fixer has just taken off with a classic Testors/Hawk build.  What does this mean?  For the super low cost of a kit in your stash and forty eight hours  of your time, you get-wait for it-A FINISHED MODEL!Wow  So get off the fence, couch, whatever, and JOIN THE MADNESS!  We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

OK.  It's five'ish.  I'm calling her done.  I will take some better pictures tomorrow morning when the sun is out.  Lousy lighting here.  Flat coat has not quite turned flat yet so a little glared right now.

I know the paint scheme is not correct for the tail art, but I couldn't resist putting Mr. Frog on.  I just tacked on some armament to complete the look.  I will probably replace it at a later time.

I enjoyed being part of this (my first) group build.  I may be able to submit another along with the rest of you depending on work schedule.

All comments and critiques welcome!

Well I am blasting along in my first few hours of this build. The most detailed part of this kit is the pilot, and even then it is still not that great. But no fit issues so far and just finishing up some seam work. Should be ready for primer and paint soon. Her is my progress:
