2015 Messerschmitt Bf 109 Group Build

Bf 109g10/R6 W.Nr. 152/xxx

Yellow 11 JG52  Overall RLM 83 topsides RLM 76 bottom wing surfaces, though I am not sure of the green belly. 

Kit is the Monogram boxing of the 1990 Revell 1.48 kit (stamped prominently on the left elevator) with True Details resin sidewall panels and cannon breech cover and Airwaves pe.  Redid the tailwheel with brass tube.

I would go for any GB with numbers 0, 1, 9 (maybe even a PT)!

I would be willing to jump in with a 190, I have one or two in my stash already.  Then again I have several more 109's as well, so I would be OK with a 2016 109 build.

Ajd, that is coming together nicely. The new Airfix kits are really good, especialy at their price point.

Jack, those photos look excellent.

Last photos for my Gustav were in November when I was happily saying painting was done and on to decalling - stupid, stupid, stupid. I had decalled half the plane when I had the WRONG org marks for my plane. Ignoring the temptation to ignore the issue, I painted over the errors and got back into it.

Original (yes it is right if I was doing the kit scheme):

First correction attempt looked like a bad spray tan:

got better the next go:

Finished off the decalling, '6' is a dry transfer from Archers, worked out well after a few practises off the model.

Added a pin wash into panel lines and some exhaust smoke, now ready for the flat top coat. Should be done soon providing I don't screw anything else up...

Finally got the cockpit together on the Airfix Emil. So far it really is just falling together. A real pleasure to build.

Jack and Jay - really great work! Love seeing those come together.

Freem - Nice job taking on that kit. I'm looking forward to seeing it progress. I remember starting to build that as a kid, but I must not have finished it, as I have some of the parts in the spares box and no idea where the rest of it is.

So, uh... we doing a 2016 build, too? I ordered a 1/32 G-6 and have Hungarian markings...

Or are we all 109ed out? :)

Dang! I feel your pain John.  I have repaired to many vehicles when it is either freezing or raining/ snowing.

TB, it was your build that inspired me, seeing how well you did with yours, it gave me confidence it would be a good example of the Emil.

Jay,  very fine attention to detail and weathering, the latter is something I had difficultty finding examples of for the undersides.  Look forward to the show photos.

Well, I took some time with Corel Photopaint, got rid of the display stand, introduced a background picture, and even taught myself how to create prop blur - or at least something that looks passible.

Jack, that E-4 turn out fantastic! Hard to believe it's 1/72 scale! Great job!

That's one sweet looking bird there, Jack. Lots of detail packed into that 1/72nd, that's for sure.

Alright, this one's a wrap and just before Christmas too.  To recap, this is the Airfix new tool 109E-4 in 72nd scale.  Exhaust are a resin product from Quickboost, along with machined brass guns from Master.  No swastikas were provided on the decal sheet, so only stencils and wing crosses were used.  Remainder of the markings were from other sources, plus some home made decals for the JG 26 emblem (gothic 'S' on white shield).

Likin' what I see here!  Really outstanding work by all!!  Kind of ashamed to show my G-10.  Which I would but my phone camera crapped out and I took a bunch of WIP shots with my little digital camera my wife so generously bought me for just that purpose.  Somehow the discs and cord went AWOL and I have wasted the last few days trying to find em. Finally found some downloadable software and got a neat little memory card reader from Best Buy.  Hopefully in the next few days...... . 

Meantime I do have the kit primered and ready for paint. 

My apologies TJ. I was reading your "On the bench" kits. Nonetheless, I'll forgive you for venturing away from the one true scale. Lol.

Jack, TJ and TB, those are most certainly looking sharp. Makes me want to build another. Perhaps we will have another GB in 16. Looking forward to the reveal.
