Coming on really well there Doug.
Joe, I like the engine. One question, the piece that mounted on your scalpel, is there a rim which goes right around the wider round piece. My kit instructions seem to show one there but the piece doesn't include it, you should see what I mean when you see the e-mail I sent. The odd thing is, its one of the pieces I had re sent and neither had it there, but on the parts diagram it seems to be a part of the piece.
Thanks SS.

Joe... yeah, I almost hate to say that I'm "building" this kit, its almost falling together all on its own. I really do like the Hasagawa kits.
Thank you too Clemens...this is going to be a fairly quick build, with no engine and a low part count, and next will ba an "F" I've wanted to do.
OH... and Joe... killer engine!

Spartan, it is the old Revell 1/4/8 G10 that I am converting, externally at least, to a K4 to use up some nice K4 decals I have left after a 1/48 K4 Fujimi build. Other then decals, tape seat belts, assorted wire and sprue parts it is OOB with no money going to aftermarket stuff.
SchattenSpartan Joe (mustang): That engine looks fantastic! Is that the Brassin set?

Hi guys, I've been kinda quiet with work and all, and just wanted to give you a state of play -- the masks for the E-4 are on back order with LuckyModel and will be here hopefully in a few weeks, and I have written to the Aus distributor for Hasegawa to see about getting a replacement canopy for the G-2. The Bf 109 itch is such that I'm looking at others on the shelf and wondering about whacking another together while I wait on the bits -- I have spare harness in hand on Eduard frets, all I would need is some masks and surely I can track them down without drama (you'd think...) I hesitate to start the big G-6 as I don't have my new display case yet...

70gt: Just tell me the scale of that kit and I'll get you on the build roster right away!
Bish: That engine is looking really nice so far!
Mij: Some nice scratchbuilding you got going there!
Joe: Your G-10 keeps looking better each update. You're doing some very inspiring work on that one!
Doug: And he got another one started! You're really speeding through those builds while still managing to keep up a really high quality standard!
70gtvert: Did I see a G-10 to put on the roster?
Doug: Looks like you are refining your building order! You seem to be building aircraft quicker and quicker with every build! Lookin' good buddy!!
Well folks...................................here we go:
Primed and drying:
OK friends... Some more progress...
OK, all in all The kit is almost falling together by its self...There were virtually no gaps at all between wing root and fuselage, the dihedral is already engineered into the wing sections, and only the slightest of step on the starboard wing to fuselage mount area which was easily filed down, and the paint begins. This will be the standard Luftwaffe day fighter scheme of 74,75 splinter on the upper surfaces and 76 on the fuse sides and lower surfaces with a heavy 75 mottle on the sides and the tail and rudder. Oh and since this was originally a trop kit, I had to scratch the filter housing since it was sent with a sand filter. More in a day or two! Take care all!!!
Doug
Waiting for some parts for my Hobby Boss 1/48 262 I'm building, at a stand still till they get here soooo, I've just started a quicky build of the old Revel G10. Very basic, low parts count kit that I will be building OOB except for using scrap materials (wire and pulled spru and tape for seatbelts). Started the cockpit and will post pics soon. Oh, yeah, I'm changing it from a G10 to a K4 by filling in a few panel lines and scribing a few other in different places to match the K4.Have some nice K4 decals left over from my Fujimi K4 build so I thought I would use them, thus the minor work to convert it over.
Such talented people, so very kind. Thank you.
i look forward to seeing the progress in this thread as there is so much to look at and so many fantastic works.
As for me...
Tidying up the little things.
The Prop is ready.
The landing gear are ready.
The wheels are ready.
Just a few more things to go.
Do not mind the pictures. This time I think I know what happened.
All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged.

Thanks for the kind words and input about the wing dihedral. Maybe the Hasegawa kit's is flat, which had me questioning it....no worries. I just got it decaled and should be finishing up soon.
Bish: That mill is looking sharp. Love the stenciling..
Fightnjoe: Still speechless right here.......absolutely amazing..
Doug: The predecessor to the K-61....very cool subject. Your off to a good start. Agreed, our U-boats dropped the ball on that one for the Tony was a great plane....
Miij: Nice start. You don't see many Hasegawa Emils so I'm looking forward to see how yours turns out. Guitar string eeh? I usually wrap fine wire around a needle for that effect, but guitar string eliminates that step.... great idea....
"Can you fly this plane and land it?...Surely you can't be serious....I am serious, and don't call me Shirley"
Joe, thanks. Mainly some photo's I found using google search and a few in the Squadron walk around. I have found a few things the kit has missed, so am doing a bt of scratchbuilding as well. I do have some pics for you if you want them, not sure if you saw my last PM.
Bish : It looks like you are continuing on fashionably great! The level of detail is friggin' awesome here. What are your references BTW?
Doug: Man I cannot hold my horses here! I'll be on the edge of my seat while watchin' you build that birdie!
Mij:I hear ya on life getting in the way man! I like the scratchwork that you're pulling off here. Guitar string .....YES! I did that on my Fw190 D-9 for the tailwheel retracting spring!
One photo I forgot to add to the previous post.
Added a piece of guitar string to oxygen regulator to make a hose loop.
On the bench

1:48 Hasegawa Bf 109E Galland
Some really impressive builds have been completed in this GB. Just keeping up with the posts is a part time job.
It's been couple of months since my last post. Work, family, and taxes got in the way but finally got started on my build. Just a reminder this is a 1:48 Hasegawa E-4 in Galland's markings. It's been in the stash for over 23 years so hopefully the decals will still work.
Planning to do this OOB with a little bit scratched details to add some improvements.
Rudder pedals had a circular mold rise that I didn't care for and are missing the holes in the pedals.
After scraping off the mold rise I got out the pin vise to add holes to the pedals.
Right side of the cockpit before fresh off the sprue.
Drilled holes in the sheet metal exterior around the oxygen regulator. Also rolled the pounce wheel to add some detail to the blank circuit breaker panel.
That is going to be a cool looking build when complete Bish. I'm liking it!
Well After speaking with Joe, I'm going to start my second Bf109. It will be a cross over build, and will represent 1 of the 5 109 E7s sent to Japan for testing in 1942. Quite a feat being they were broken down , loaded into U-Boats, then reassy after arrival, in Japan. The kit is a Hasagawa 1/48 scale Bf109 E4/7 and theres not a lot too it by the looks. It will mainly be OOB.
This is the kit I'll be using
Pretty basic lay out of pit parts...
As I said, pretty basic, Just added some airscale decals to the IP.
And lastly installed in the fuselage with the wing parts laid out to clean and assy. More later!
Take care all...
Its been a while since my last update. But as planned I have been working on the engine here and there, and now ready to post some pics.
So, after 2 coats of primer, the engine got 3 coats of Humbrol gloss black enamel.
I then started on the bare metal parts and added the decals. I also added the tops of the spark plugs using a small piece of brass rod. Even in this scale the detail is very small, I was going to try and add the hexagonal top to the plugs, but it just wasn't worth it.
The engine mount has also been painted, RLM 02, and the strap on the box covering the rear of the engine mounted cannon painted khaki.
So the next job will be to wire the spark plugs and then I will fit the engine into the mount before the rest of the wiring is started.
SchattenSpartan Brandon, I suppose that Eduard E-7 is in 1/48 as well?

Yep, also 1:48. It's the Weekend Edition, but I just ordered the PE set for it because the air filter lacks the mesh screens without it, and it just looks like a plastic block, which I didn't want.

And the hits just keep on rollin'

Joe, really looking forward to seeing that finished. Really impressed with that.
lawdog, that's another great looking build. Nice work on the engine and pit. The wings don't look off to me and I can't see the issue with the tips you mention.
That's another great build Brandon. two builds to be really proud of.
Joe (lawdog): She's looking fantastic! I really love your paintjobs, especially the condensation streaks and cockpit painting!
Joe (fightnjoe): I really like the camo scheme you picked for this one. It looks interesting, but at the same time it's not too distracting, so all the amazing interior details still stand out. Some perfect execution on that paintjob and decals on your part as well!
I am humbled by the very very kind words. Thank you.
Unbelievable work here. I could only dream of
BrandonD: We'll get that E-7 added to the roster and it's great to have you back in here bud! I'll get that second picture posted up in the Completed Builds section as well. As far as showing off the engine.............bring it! Update for you--That awesome pic is now posted and your new entry is in que for being posted on the roster!
Joe (lawdog): A weeks worth of work? That's about two months worth of work for me!!! Jeeez!! The pit looks great (I know you have a strategy base to work off of with pits so it's no wonder you're quick with those) and I don't see a problem with the dihedral at all. Paint and weathering are masterfully done!
Joe(FJ): The level of creativity to pull off what you do is nothing short of show-stopping! Everything from detail to the cals man..........museum quality!! Good Lord where do you guys come from? Great stuff!
Brandon - Galland's mount, very smart looking finish!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fightnjoe - really great technical work of art there!
Joe - the F-2 looks fine from here. The dihedral should be the same as the Emil, though the wing was completely redesigned. Not much in the way of panel lines as there were no guns mounted in the wings.
regards,
Jack
