Afternoon all... I've got a bit done today, Its getting close now, possibly be able to finish up by tomorrow afternoon? Any way, here is where I stand now...

I've finished up the decals, and thankfully when I started to dull it down, the colors began to show again, that is lighten up some.

All the weathering and wear and tear is done, I used dry brushing and a silver artist pencil to chip and wear areas of the paint.

Tomorrow all I have left to do is the canopy stop cable and spring, the antenna and some minor fiddly stuff to do.

Well I guess that's it for now,,, More to follow!

Doug - I love the way the paint came out. I thought it looked good before, but I really like it better now.

When you say an artist's pencil, do you mean something like the Prismacolor pencil, or something more like a paint pen? I have both, but found the pen to be unwieldy and needing touching up. I plan to use the pencil on my Spitfire I have going in another GB.

Again, great job - can't wait to see the finished pics.

Mike: Looks like your a little further along and it's just looking better all the time. I hear you on being away. Seems like lately I've had a lot of distractions from the bench but I'll be getting back into the full swing of things shortly. Great looking progress so far bud.

Brandon , I believe Prismacolor is the brand I have. I bought a few basic individule pencils and they work great.

Those Prismacolor pencils are da bomb! I've got a silver lead pencil from them and it rocks!

Thanks for the kind words, Mustang. After being away all day yesterday I was all set today to get the 02 masked and the 71 applied but a domestic crisis added to some papers to grade and some regular chores put paid to that... There's always tomorrow!

Again, great looking builds all around!

About the coloured pencil crayons, I also use those for weathering.  I use only a little of  the silver, combining it with light grey or medium grey to illustrate both freshly worn metal surfaces and those that have aged/oxidized.  Suppose if you spray a flat clear afterwards, don't really have to worry about the silver having too much luster.

OK, I was able to finish up today... All is all I liked this kit and the way it went together. I might try to find another, having seen several other aircraft they do like the JU87, F4U Corsair The Bf109G etc...

Little at a time Mike, BSY in the Japanese GB has a great saying, " too much speed makes bad results, too little speed makes no results" your results are looking just fine!

Mike: Coming right along with the masking job!! Can't wait to see the results!!!

I think I am going to call mine done as well. 1/32 Hasegawa K-4 done as "Blue 16" from JG27. AM used includes RB Productions belts, Eagle Parts oil cooler housing, G-Factor gear legs, MDC cockpit, BarracudaCast wheels/tires and spinner and prop blades, Eagle Cals decals. Riveted with a beading tool and painted with Mr. Color paint. Thanks to everyone who followed along.

Gentlemen. I apologize for the long absence. I suffer from procrastinitis. I put things off. I have managed to mask the canopy.  I have applied 76 on the under side. I have even started another 109g 10 by revell. Its the same plane as the monogram I'm working on. Its the same exact kit just one was made in the 80's and the revell made a couple of years ago. I decided to go with another basic kit so I can work on the big things  before I really get down to the major detail work that you guys do. There are a lot of awesome builds here. I hope to one day be as excellent as you guys. I will try to keep it up. Thanks. PS I am sorry to hear about the recent losses.

Jay, simply stunning. Truly beautiful.

Jay - very fine work, impressive end product. 

Are the rivets located on the wing tip section also made by you?  They actually look embossed, opposite of the surrounding ones, but could be just the play of the light.

Okay, target achieved for today, the E-7s have received their RLM 71:

I'll start removing the masking and see what touch-ups are called for.

Unmasking is underway and I've come up on a couple of annoying snags, on the big one some of the 02 has lifted, not a lot but enough to mean I need to spot repair, and on the small one I masked the port tailplane backward -- I'll need to respray in 02 and remask to spot-in the 71 area. As these repairs are all airbrushed, I'll leave all remaining masking in place, and hope the 65 and 04 don't lift too... With luck I'll get a decent overall cover soon, then a protective coat to lock everything down.

jubya: No problem man! I think most of us suffer from that procrastinitis you speak of. As I've read in somebody's signature block somewhere, " So many models....so little time."

Mike: I know I've done the backwards masking before. As frustrating as it is, one has to laugh. Keep it coming bud.

Jack, the rivets are all embossed so probably just the way the light hit some of them.
