To not completely derail this thread, here's a photo of the Finnish G-6 I'm going to build (MT-451):

It's about time YOU showed up! Welcome aboard Nathan! Great to see you and talk to you again with that, and I quote, "Rich Texan Accent" . lol

I can't really compete with that, but I do have that Austrian accent if that's of any helpWink

Oh and just for some mindless, silly fun, Christoph Waltz talking about the difference between Austrians and Germans:

This video is, of course, not to be taken completely seriously and more of a joke than anything else...

Nathan: Nice to have you in here as well! That's a very interesting subject for sure!

Hey all... Just saw a 109G Royal Class on E Bay any one interested....

Oh Clemens. Here Clemens, Clemens, Clemens! lol

Where? Where?! Stick out tongue

On a more serious note, I think I got all the 109s I need. So why do I even have two Royal Class kits? Well, the answer is simple: The Royal Class is cheaper than buying two Profipacks and the fabric seatbelts (I hate PE belts) and comes with way more goodies. They also don't limit me to only building G-6s...

That 109 stash really is impressive though! I'm not trying to enter a stash contest with my 109s (that's what my 190s are for Wink). I simply got me those kits I'm most interested in and I have a plan for each one of them...

By the by... I'm looking to make a break from PhotoBlunder, and it looks like Flickr offers (they claim) enough free storage to hold approx 500,000 photos, again, at no cost. Any Flickr users here? Ins, outs, ups, downs, drawbacks, honest opinions???

Yes, I've a flickr account for over a year now.  Works fine for me, and all that storage space free, really can't complain.  Using Firefox web browser makes it a breeze to link photos to the forums here.
regards,
Jack

Hey Rigidrider,

Thanks for the info on the Otaki kit!

"Eagle... Otaki kits are quite nice and fairly well detailed although sparse in the pit area... Nothing a good pe set wouldnt help. They were basic kits, made from sometime in the mid 80s into the early 90s. They are related to the Arii kits and realy only failed due to poor distribution. The man who started the company (in Japan) was determined to produce the best kit possible for the modest cost, and after several start up "Bumps" he did just that. Again, a poor distribution network caused the downfall of the company, not the product.

Doug"

Didn't know anything about it, so the info is much appreciated.  I took a better look at the kit and you are correct.  The cockpit is not very detailed, but the rest is nicely done!  Should be a good build.  Thanks again!

In with this nice late war Gustav from Croatia:

Its actually a G-14AS, which I'll make from this kit:

I'll have to rescribe a few things, use the small G-6 wheels and bumps, but use the tall tailwheel. I have some Montex Masks to use so I can better weather up the markings, otherwise its the usually stuff-Aires pit, Ultrascast wheels and exhaust, Eagle Parts spinner and batterybox. Hopefully my weathering skills can pull it off!

I'm not entirely sure what exactly i'm going to build for this GB, but the Hasegawa G-6 and the Finnish G-6 from Eduard are definitely on my build list for 2015.

Here's the other 109 stuff I got in my stash:

I also have a second Hasegawa G-6 and the new Revell G-10, but I didn't fancy digging those out.

AM goodies include enough sets to completely dress up one of my big G-6s and a few decal sheets...

You obviously haven't seen Tuco Howard's stash of 109's have you..................

Looks like everything worked out! Thanks a bunch, Tim!

PJ, I got you added to the build list! I personally prefer the Gustavs over the Emils, but I'm really looking forward to your build of this beauty!

I just recieved my latest issue of FSM today and I have to say your Sea Fury looks absolutely stunning! I might actually have to get me one as well now...

Thanks for adding me to the list. This E-7 has tons of details with included pe details, full engine, super detailed cockpit, detailed radio sets, gun bays, man just too much and the decals are just gorgeous. I may throw in the Gustav later if I have the time.

Thanks for the nice comments about my Sea Fury article. It's a fairy basic kit but makes a great display piece specially when done in Alclad. It really looks like real polished aluminum.

Nah, no Hartmann G-6 for me. One of my big G-6's is going to be a nice black/dark gray machine from JG 300 (field applied camo). The other one's either going to be another JG 300 one or Barkhorn's aircraft.

Be interested to see that 32nd G-6, are you doing that in Hartmann's markings or something else. I've got the same kit and did consider it, but didn't want to get into mottling for my first 32nd.

Great to see you both handi.

Tim, I am disappointed. And there's me thinking the almighty came to you for help Wink

Well, almost getting the ball rolling, here's my planned builds. First up will be the HPH 1/18th bf 109G DB 605 engine.

And here is a couple of pics of the contents. 2 large bags of resin parts which look very nice. And a CD with the instructions on.

And from top left, a small decal sheet with markings for serial numbers and a nice PE nameplate. A small PE fret. A selection of wire and shrinkable rubber and finally a small Belgian Chocolate which I will be saving until the end.

There is also a stand which had to be purchased separately but is pretty essential, though I don't have a pic of that.

And for those who may be wondering how big it is, here is the spinner next to a 32nd 109 spinner.

And for a second build I will be doing my first ever 32nd aircraft. Hasegawa's Bf 109F-4/Trop.

Rigidrider,

Yea, it's a pretty basic kit. I bought off off eBay for $8.50 free shipping, so anything I get for it shouldn't throw me too far off my meger budget.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Model Crazy... That old Hasagawa is a nice kit, I've done that one and like most other kits it has its good and bad points, but is a good base line kit to build on. A llittle PE and some good decals and you can have a beautiful subject.
