Steve, That came out real nice. Not sure about the size or which version tank it was, but I think I remember some one putting one of the 3" battle droids figure in a model AAT. I think what you have may be to small though.

Bish, has it already been a couple of years since you did the Probe droid? Doesn't seem that long ago. I guess time is going by quickly as I get older.

Nuc, when I posted that, I just recalled it was 2013. But went at looked at the thread, it was the Nov of that year, so just over a year. If you recall, it was for the Hollywood GB. Still doesn't seem that long ago, and your right, both me and my better half say its goes quicker as we get older. Ep VII will be released before we know it.

Nuc,

I believe you may be thinking of OctaneOrange's AAT. cs.finescale.com/.../163166.aspx.

He did a sweet job of puttin that little bugger in the hatch.

Really nice Steve. I like what you have done with the long grass. That is really effective. I will put a pic on the front page tonight.

Tanks Bish and Rob. This was my first attempt at actually chipping paint, instead of painting it to make it looked chipped, and an oil wash. I believe I have the confidence to tackle that 1/72 U-boat I've been holding off on until my skills increased.

However, now I have several builds to do first. I'll just have to hold off for a sub GB to give me a excuse.

Thank you Bush for hosting a GB with a fun, different subject.

Steve, That is the tank I was thinking about. Admit I did not read the post but is that the same model as yours. I'm thinking not as it does look bigger than what you have. Which by the way came out great! The chipping and weathering lends to the use of the the tank and the way it is displayed really sets it off, RogerRoger!!

Brandon, silentbob, Stephen,

Thank you. It was an easy build and ALOT of fun to weather. I had a seriously hard time painting it though. The acrylic I was using keep pealing off. I finally had to remove it all and repaint with enamel. But maybe in the end, all that just added to the final worn look.

Well look what arrived today! 6,682 miles from Tochigi, Japan to my workbench. Amazing time we live in.

Sorry for the photo dump, these are for Bish and anyone else interested in the new Bandai kits.

Main parts sprues. Note the colored sprues attached, very clever, I wonder how that do that.

More sprues with instructions (note the Disney logo) and one sheet of decals. There's another sheet of decal stickers as well.. The parts in the upper right are the base.

Close up to show detail

Part of the instructions. This is problematic, because there is no English translation, not even for the color chart. Sad Nicely printed though.

If anybody has any questions or wants to see more pics just let me know.

That looks like a neat little kit. How's the detail on the R2 unit?

Hey SB! Pretty well detailed for the size - the grid boxes on the cutting mat are 1/2". There are a choice of two "heads" - the one you see for R2 and a cylindrical one for R5-D4. They have a full set of decals for each one as well. Surprise

After examining the parts and instructions a little more closely, I'm now pretty sure this is a snap kit. Not that I really care, but I had assumed it was a glue kit.

I know the feeling, man, believe me. Smile After spending a couple of hours with the kit building the wing assembly...yeah, this is a winner. It's definitely a snap kit, but more in the vein of "posts and holes" rather than the older style "tabs and rectangles", if you know what I mean. The engineering is really superb, and the instructions are maybe the best I've ever seen (you know how you look for a landmark to decide which way to hold the part, and what the location is? They point that out for you.). Most of the parts are very strongly keyed (photo below), so it's nearly impossible to mix anything up, and fit is perfect, or nearly so. Wings are poseable open or closed, and you can change anytime. Definitely a model and not a toy.

Oh, two more things before I pack it in for the night:

Steve, that tank build is absolutely outstanding! Not only the model, but the base and foliage are really excellent. That's a showpiece, congratulations.

Also, just so I don't lose any geek cred, what I keep referring to as 'wings' are actually 'S-foils'. The old memory still works, it just takes a little longer sometimes. Whistling

Steve, thanks for posting these. Well, it does look nice. Interesting how they have those clear parts in the grey sprue. Odd about the instructions given where their main markets will be. I wonder if those bought from the US/Euro market will have English instructions. Looking forward to seeing how it builds up.

Well, seems I spoke to son and replied to the last page before checking this one. It is looking good and seems they have a good mix of a nice kit for youngsters and newbies to the hobby but nicely detailed with it.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost of this, I guess less than the FM kits.

Yes, by quite a bit: 1,920 Yen, about US$16 plus shipping ($24 total for me). FM kits are about $75 on Ebay. Bandai is releasing the TIE this month, I'm definitely going to get one. Smile

I'm really loving all the great work on here!

I finally got some primer on this guy. Used Tamiya fine light grey.

Then pre-shaded with german grey.

Added the PE grills.

Then started base coating it with a mixture of flat white, gloss white, with a pinch of nuetral grey and brown.

Thanks for looking.

Raven, that X-wing is looking great. I am watching with interest so I can do mine up right. Can't wait to see this come together more.

Senor, that Falcon looks awesome. I may have to try and find one of those for the stash. Might have to think up an excuse for the wife as to why I have enough planes to last two years, and yet still buying. Keep up the awesome work.
