PB, that is one really nice build. has given me a lot of inspiration and things to consider. No worries on the X-Wing. I had actually had it down as a 1/72nd, but I think you have certainly earned your badge. If you wish to wait for the next GB, I would love to have it on board. But if ypu want to build it sooner, I hope you will do a WiP thread for it. That's a nice collection you have there. I have to ask, what's the Blockade runner kit, never seen one of those before and that looks sweet.

That Y-Wing looks perfect to me! The weathering is spot on.

Great stuff, everyone!

Well, after many delays, here is my battle-weary Y-Wing. Still my favorite SW ship--in my mind, the perfect expression of pure, ugly function and the struggle of the Rebel Alliance.

Bish, I mentioned I could finish the FM X-Wing by the end of this GB, but seeing that it took this long to finish something in 1/72, December is probably unrealistic for a 1/48 kit. :-)

In any event, hope you like her, and thanks for looking!

Very cool builds Klik!  That Bandai AT-ST looks much nicer than the old AMT kit.  Looks like you have a nice little flightline going Nuc.

I haven't made a whole lot of progress on my AT-AT yet, just gotten most of the head pieces together as well as the neck.  The detail is a lot better than I thought it would be compared to the pictures of the MR replica and the studio model.  The worst part about it is the raised panel lines, but I can work with it.  Here's where I'm at:

Klik, I do like those builds. I have been in two minds about the Bandai kits as many seem to toy like, but these looks nice. Not that its going to be easy to get hold of them now.

Great job Klik, I like the metalic  armor. BTW, do you do much painting on that desk? Big Smile

I got some TIE cockpits pretty much done. Hopefully I will be able to start painting tomorrow.

Ok, the Stormtrooper:

In progress, 'humor pic' for you. ("Aaagh, my legs!")

this Kit, also a work of art, even unbuilt, came with all the armaments of the Empire:

When it came to the rifle (the long one); I chose to make it a sniper rifle, by making a scope for it (like how it appears in the Battlefront games for PS2):

It also came with ambidexterous gun hands, so you can make this trooper dual-wield!

I must, regretably, point out a fatal flaw with this kit: There is no chin in the helmet, so when you pose the head up, from the side, the Trooper looks to either be a robot, or have an unnaturally small, squished head. SO, to fix this, I BUILT A CHIN (forgive the caps, but I am extremely pleased with how this worked out:)

I used putty:

once dry, I painted the chin black:

and, viola, it worked:

I added the green stipes to make this Trooper a Seargent, with the grey spots covering up places where the paint has rubbed off (an unfortunate side effect of not thoroughly washing the kit before painting). Looks good, though.

Thanks for looking, and I hope this can help whoever else was lucky enough to get this kit before Disney stupidly locked Bandai out. (I managed to also get the Scout Trooper and Speeder bike before the order lock, but I'm saving it for later...)

Ok, Back with pics, as requested:

the AT-ST, which I built first, was also the more complicated of the two (but has BEAUTIFUL detail), such as the Cockpit:

The 'Laser Effects' look silly, don't they?

Final Pics:

For numerous reasons, I shaved down the connections for the roof, to keep it removable:

I also didn't use the "missle launcher" that goes on the left side (I didn't like how this part was made by Bandai, and I personally think the AT-ST looks more fearsome without it, so I just gave it an "oil slick" where the mount was removed from the head). The roof had two choices of hatch, open or closed:

So, that by using the open hatch, and Chewbacca (who came with the kit, in only two pieces, if you can believe it), you can recreate the "hero" AT-ST from the Battle of Endor:

And, to keep my posts short-ish, I'll follow up this one with the Stormtrooper!

To be continued...

Outstanding, Orange. I really like the finish, all the way around. Another shelf tropy.

What did you use for the body of the racer, Alclad or MM Metalizers?

"Lack of Empire involvement"? Say it ain't so! I have been very busy, but managed to cram in the Bandai AT-ST and Stormtrooper on my workbench in August, but never got around to posting them. Shall I post finished pics for the Empire? Klik

The base is the kit supplied styrene piece. after a base coat of vinyl spray paint, i used acrylic paint from lifecolor. rather than paint it on, i stippled it with a ruined brush.

Do you want me to use one of those pics or wait till you get some others.

yeah, my outdoor pics weren't any better.

Look forward to seeing that come along Bob. Not meaning to steal Orange's thunder, but yes, that base comes with the kit. First time I just painted it silver with the insignia in blue. But on seeing this, I may well try and come up something similar to Orange's.

Will do Nuc. I found that kit on Starship Modeller, but they are out of stockat the moment. Will be keeping an eye on that. I plan on running another Star Wars GB to coincide with the release of Ep VIII, currently planned for May 2017. I have not made up my mind yet, but it will either start at the beginning of August, so it is as long as this one. Or I may shorten it and begin in Dec next year to coincide with the release of Rouge One.

Octaneorange, that came out great! I might have to reconsider getting one of those kits.

Bish, since there seems to be a lack of Empire involvement here let us put the clawcraft on the list and I will update on the other ones. I plan on the marathon but we will see how it goes.

Now, hold everything! Did I read something about another GB?

Looks really good! Like I said earlier, those engines are works of art. And I agree with Bish, the stand looks great. Is that the one that comes with the kit? How did you paint it?

I've made a small start on my AT-AT, but there's a lot of clean up to do. I'll post some pics when I've finished building the head.

Orange, I love the look of that, its a real nice finish. And I do like what you did with the base as well. At first glance I thought that was a piece of wood. I think I am defiantly going to do this one in the next GB, and will be using your build as a reference. Do you want me to use one of those pics or wait till you get some others.

some completed pix. i will do some better outdoor photos next fine day. Overall a nice kit that builds up into a fine replica of the movie prop. there are some issues with the pod-cockpit, which need forethought to resolve ahead of time. For one, the way AMT made the top and bottom cockpit leaves a terrible seam along the top of the 'door' area, unless you blended and painted it after adding the driver and masking him somehow. The instructions show putting the 'hood' decal too far backward, over the top of the dashboard. i put it far forward as it would go.

Nice, OO!! Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Well, the lighting in my basement workshop is horrible, so I'm going to have to wait until next week for sunlight and then take some shots of the Y outside. Ah, well.
