Well done with the IP Ken

Thanx for comments guys :)

weekend updates:

On the kate, painted the black (mixed with dark blue) on the nose and painted another layer of light grey/green in the bottom

Also primed the propeller and finished with the black on the cowling but no pictures

On the rufe retouched the grey delimitations

even on the rufe painted or primed other detail parts but no pictures.

Soon will start the Ki-55 too :D

At the next

Great job mixing colors and painting Bsyamato!  Looks wonderful.

Gamera

Shes coming along great Byamato, I love the first photo where I can see all the extra stuff you added to the cockpit.

I put the treads on the Type 74 this weekend. Instead of using wire pins to hold the tracks down I just cemented them to the road wheels since they weren't very stiff. The yellow sandpaper rolls are in there to hold them in place as the cement dries.

Hi Cliff,

Good job on the tracks!  They look nice.  I have never built any armor, but from watching you and several others build them I have gathered that the tracks can be quite challenging!

First impression on the kit are good, nicely engraved panel lines but few details in the cockpit, IP are correct but some structure and replace seats are needed.

Hi Bsyamato,

It is hard to keep up with you!  You are a building machine!  Smile  Nice looking kit you have there.  I am sure I will enjoy watching you build this along with the others currently on your bench.

Well, good news / semi bad news.  Have to get the complete clear sprue, and is in stock and on the way....bad news, I owned up to screwing it up on my own and no fault of Tamiya and gave them a card number for it.  $6 and change + postage.  So all in all not too bad of a hit for my stupidity.  I put in the panel with white glue and then ran a toothpick of the no fog CA to reinforce it on the inside.  Too much and it pooled up and bit me.

Hi Art,

Fully understand on the "screwed it up" department.  (Hence the reason I added the photo etched instrument panel!  Wink  )

Nice that Tamiya had it available for you.  Hopefully the postage didn't hurt too much.

I've started on the Zero in between paint drying on my F-107.  I've pretty much hit a stopping point until the paint I ordered arrives from Hong Kong.  I probably should have just picked them up at the LHS.  It's been almost two weeks.  Wasn't worth the buck or two I saved.  Anyways, I removed and cleaned up most of the larger pieces.  I also glued the wing, cowling, and fuel tank halves together.  I also drilled out the seat and dipped the canopy pieces in Future.  As soon as the paint arrives, I can get moving.  Looks like a fairly easy build.

Hey all,

There are some great looking builds going on in here. Everyone keep it up.

Hey Gamera, Can you put me down for another build. It is a 1/48 Tamiya Mitsubishi A6M3/3a zero (Zeke).

It looks like it is going to be a great build and I am taking my time this one because of the detail that the kit has. The IP has decals for it and the cockpit tub is great. The kit has some photo etch for the folding wing tips so this will be a first, well second time, at doing photo etch. Hopefully it will go better this time.

Thanks,

Doug

Craig: Yeah, doesn't look like too many parts there, nice change of pace from some of the insanely detailed kits I've seen.

Doug: Sure! Just put you down, great choice there!

Doug- I'm basically building the same kit (mine is the a6m2).  It's nicely detailed for it simplicity.  The parts test fitted nicely too.  The only thing I'm not lookin' forward to is masking the canopy.

Yeah, love those stringers you're putting in there!

Funny thing everytime I look at that orange plastic I keep thinking it should smell like oranges or tangerines!

Thanks for comments guys :)

well done on the cockpit Doug

Last night few works on tachikawa, the cold keep me away from the bunker where i'm painting the other models as the kate and rufe.

Modified the cockpit floor with three openings, added rudder pedals , central rod for control stick and adapted the control stick for the new position. Also extended the previous structures for the new side holes. Nothing done on the front pilot place ,but there not needed holes as the back seat

Seats needed to be replaced with a scratchbuild but it's no easy as other seats, probably a thermoforming with mould is needed :(

Doug: Looks great! That is a gem of kit, so much detail and such good fit.

Bsyamato: She's coming along great, love those rudder petals. Seems like it would be easier to rob some seats and parts from another kit if you can find one cheap.

Bsyamato: Your scratchbuilding is so good it looks better than anything you could steal from another kit anyway!

Doug: Ouch that blows, hopefully you won't have to wait long for the replacements.

Hi Bsyamato,

Once again I must say your scratch building with such detail is fantastic!  Yes  Yes  You are a modeling mad man!

I don't know where you live, but I can understand about the cold.  It is currently only 11 degrees Fahrenheit where I live and it is supposed to get down to -1F tonight!

Ken,

I called Tamiya and talked to a customer rep. and he found all the parts I needed. He is going to send them to me at no charge.Big Smile I f I had to buy the two trees of parts It would have been about $5.00 each plus S&H.

So while I wait for the parts to come in I have worked on the figures. I still need to do some touch-ups and all but here they are. I lost one of the swords to the black hole floor, again. Me and my five thumbs cant hold onto the small parts very well at times.

What do you all think about spraying Future on the figures so I cam put was on them?

The figures look pretty cool Doug.  Were you going to put a wash on them?

I hear nothing but good stories about Tamiya costumer service.  I wish I could say the same about Trumpeter.
