Doug: Now that does look good! Nicely sets off the model. I'm on the work computer now, I'll get you posted when I get home.

John: Oh mercy, I think I'd freeze solid!

Hey Doug,

I guess we both can be the other Doug. Lol...Thanks for the comments. I just had some down time on another zero while I am waiting on some replacement parts to come in. I had the base painted for awhile but never got it finished until yesterday.

Thanks Gamera, you da man.

Lol... maybe I should just go back to calling you guys Nomad and RR!

Although I remember one GB I was in, I think it was Stikpusher's Korean War GB where there were THREE Andrews and an Andy...

EDIT: Ok, got a little free time at work- just posted your Ki-43 to GB III John and replaced your photo Nomad Doug.

I've just about finished up the aluminum parts.  I still have to do a wash and dry brush the engine.  Still waiting on the paint.  It will be four weeks tomorrow.

Doing some reading last night... ran across an interesting item. How about to start, 1 of the 5 Bf109 Es sent to Japan in 42? If thats OK, I have a Hasagawa 1/48 Bf109E - 7 in stash, if not I have a Arii 1/48 Tojo.

Craig & Bsyamato: Those are coming along great guys!

RR: Those both sound cool. Someone built a Japanese Bf-109 back in GB II, I'd have to scroll way back to look up who though. I have the photo in my PhotoBucket account linked to the front page but stupidly didn't stick his name in the title.

OK... I'll start out with that, and try my hand at it (the 109) then I'll do the Tojo. I can't start this moment but will get going soon, I know you already credited he creator of the badge designer, but I just want to say again, IMO, you have some of the coolest badges! Also I hope you are recovering well  from your accident earlier his year.

RR Doug Smile : Sounds good to me, I'll put those down for you. The Japanese imported a few FW-190s too!

And thanks on the badges though I can't claim credit, I made the ones for Japanese Group Build I myself and they kinda blew. The young lady on this badge and part III was by a good online friend and comic artist named Rock Baker. Jgeratic whipped the rest of the badge up. And the beautiful 'Great Wave' badge from last year was from the talented Waynec. Big thanks for all of them for a first rate job!

I'm slowly getting better. Have a dentist's appointment next week for a permanent replacement for the tooth I had broken in the accident and another meeting with the orthopedic doctor for the collarbone. We'll see how it goes... Confused

bsyamato - The Kate is looking good.  I really enjoy watching you scratch build the interiors of the kits you build.

Cliff - Bummer about your tooth.  I know it's hard to do anything when you have a toothache.  Hope you feel better.

I added the wash to the engine which really brought out the cylinders.  I'm basically building this kit out of the box.  So I didn't add any extra detailing to the engine.  Maybe the next one.  I placed the engine in the cowl so I could see just how much of the engine shows through.  It should look OK.

Oh yeah, my paints still haven't arrived!  So, since my wife was in town yesterday, she stopped by the LHS and picked me up a bottle of XF-71.  At least I can get moving on the cockpit.  I truly think the paint is stuck on a container ship sitting in the Port of Los Angeles waiting to be off loaded.

Cheer up, word yesterday they have a tentative agreement to vote on.  If accepted it will take awhile to get the backlog cleared out, but there is hope.  Our exporters here are getting hit hard on their contracts in Japan and Korea on livestock feed supplements.

Got the old canopy off of Betty and the new one prepped and the glareshield redone.  Took a couple of the Japanese lettering pieces off the box to glue on the tables in the pit to give some interest.  Thanks to the other guys that have done that for the idea. Will post some pics when the wings are on later this week.

GH - Hope things get back to normal soon.  Lookin' forward to some pics of your plane.

I shot the XF-71 this morning.  Should be able to start detailing the cockpit this evening if I have time.  I'm just happy I'm rollin' on this Zero now.

Craig: Looks good so far, crossing my fingers things get straightened out soon and you can get moving in earnest.

Goldhammer: Sounds good, looking forward to the photos.

Terry: Nice work, I know all those road wheels can get dull after a few. That is one of Tamiya's better older kits I'd think, the newer FineMolds kits have more petite detail but they're not that much of an improvement.

Terry,

I've got the same kit. The hull should go together like the type 97 Chi Ha. I'll be watching with interest.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I made a little progress this evening.  I applied the decal IP and added some PE seat belts that I had bought for another build.  I used Future to glue the seat belt down.  Hope it holds.

Thanks Gamera and MC, so far it looks like the same Type 97. I'm thinking three color camo and maybe a little dust!

Craig, i'm always in awe of those cockpits with so much detail. Nice work.

Craig: Very nice work there on instrument panel and seat-belts.

Ryan: Welcome aboard- just put you down. Tamiya quality should be an awesome kit.

John: Looks fantastic! Really nice work there on the chipping.
