Got some updates...used stretched sprue to fill that wing gap

Then got everything sanded, almost ready for paint...

Nice!  Startin' to look like an airplane.  I've never used stretched sprue for filling.  How does that work?

Well I certainly haven't mastered it yet...I believe it's plastic junkie that I got it from

For gaps l, stretch some sprue to the appropriate size, I dip it in tenax which melts it to the two sides so it looks like a weld seam. Since its plastic, when you sand it down it won't look like putty. I have never been able to sand putty on a significant seam to where it's unnoticeable.

Looks good Josiah, I've never used stretched sprue either but I like the look of the results you got there.

Terry and ajd - Your builds look sharp.  Well done!  You guys can really detail a model.

OK.  You see that clear work space?  That means I'm done with my F-107 and I'm ready to put 100% of my time and effort into the Zero.  If I can get going on the cockpit, the rest should fall into place.

Well shoot.  I can't find the control stick for my Zero.  Anyone know how to go about ordering a replacement from Tamiya?  I should probably make my own.

Thanks.  I'll give them a call.  Depending on the cost, I still may make my own.

Hi Everyone,

A little more progress on my Zero.  I attached one of the seat belts to the seat using "Gator's Grip Hobby Glue".

I will let this dry overnight before attempting to bend the belt to conform to the seat.

I also painted the handle on the control stick black.

So many varied and cool looking projects going on... and its still early in the build time frame. Well I finally got to start mine this weekend. I'm (after talking with Gamera) going to do one of the 5 Bf109 E-7s that were shipped in U-Boats from Germany to Japan for testing in 1942. Not sure why the Japanese rejected the 109 (all but the engine, which they built under license to install in their Ki61) But the inference I think was they felt the 109 was already out dated by 42 maybe? Any way, the Kit I'll use is a Hasagawa 1/48 scale 109E7, and it doesn't look like it will take too long to complete.

Even though its been in stash for awhile, its still a good liking kit in detail...

All the office parts, not terribly plain, but not overly detailed either, I'll try to dress up just a bit.

All assy, and some "Airscale" instrument decals applied. As I said, not terribly detailed.

And installed in the fuselage with the wing components laid out to clean and assy. That's about it for now.

Take care all!

Doug

Goldhammer, Ken, RR Doug: Some fantastic looking cockpits going on there guys!

Btw: The Type-74 would be done but somehow the smoke dischargers got knocked off on the left side and I can't find them (shhhhhheeeeeesssssssssshhhhhhhhhhh)...............

I'll see if I can find or replace them. I think I need some spray adhesive to stick the snow to the base, still in the home stretch in any case.

Hey Fly,

I had great service from Tamiya on getting replacement parts. I dealt with a gentleman named Gary. He found the parts I needed from a kit that was already gone thru and sent them to me at no charge. See If you can get him.

Hey some great looking things going on here. I need to work on the base for my zero. I may start that tomorrow. I have four figures that came with the kit and thought I might try and do a flight deck of a Japanese carrier. Not sure on how I going to do it but I will come up with something. Any suggestions welcome.

My grand kids came home from their mothers tonight and the two year old is real sick to her stomach. Throwing up and all. Gonna be a long night I think.

Doug

I wonder and kind of suspect the 109's didn't have the range required of the PTO.

In good hands they more or less held their own throughout the war from what I know.

Well I got a little more work done on my 1/72 Oscar.   I couldn't stand the closed canopy that came with the kit so I sawed it up so I could show off the interior.

both front and back pieces should be painted by the time this gets posted.   here it is with masking on it ready for paint.

Perfect finished buildings guys :)

Also lots of updates there , great!

Here's my few updates:

On the Kate sratchbuilded a sort of gunsight and the radio antenna

Then painted some cockpit parts with black

On the ki-55 painted cowling (and gears but no pictures) with dark brown

Also glued the central section of canopy

That's all for now, at the next

They look good Bsyamato- I am still amazed how you get that cool pre-shading effect with a brush.
