Well, for some reason the links don't seem to want to work, link to the general page.
hey guys, yeah I'm still here. Got the first colour on. I kinda think it's too dark though
Looks good so far. You might be OK when the green goes on, at least by the pic and my box. Unless you want her a little sun faded.
Wings going on mine this w/e and getting the green and gray done and ready for the white topcoat.
I think I'm gonna mix some white into the brown and overspray a little lighter shade
As long as you don't add coolant to the radial..............
LOLOL!!!
Tates
Try a ever so slightly lighter brown sprayed on the center of the panels feathering out. That will give you an excellent weathered look. Filters will fade it even more.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Alright all... I've completed my first build... All in all a typical Hasagawa kit, fairly well detailed and fit like a glove. This was not one of their higher priced kits and took a little pe and dressing to make it look better but still a great little ole kit to build.
Well... I have one more atleast I'd like to do in a bit, and thanks for having me, and thanks Cliff for hosting!
Doug
PS completed picture choice is yours.
goldhammer As long as you don't add coolant to the radial..............
Yeah that's a pretty good one! Just pour the coolant over the top!!!
Tates: The brown looks fine to me in the photo, as PJ said shouldn't be too hard to lighten it with a light overspray or just post-shade it as he pointed out by lightening the centers of the panels.
Doug: Beautiful work there! As I said before I love the mottling, turned out perfectly! Going to post you to the front page now.
Excellent work Doug. Well done!
Craig
Cliff, Craig... Thank you both very much! I'll be back in a bit with another, this time a Japanese aircraft proper! lol... I have both a George and a Ki-100 in stash, and I've wanted to build either for awhile now. Again, Thanks Cliff for hosting.
Well, the best laid plans...... Am painting as a army/navy green and gray/white, put the insignia on her and then repaint in overall white, with virtually no weathering except for some on the landing gear and some exhaust. Got the gray/white on this morning in the shop at work, and being cold, ran the daylights out of it. So much for getting the green on today. More work with the sandpaper.
Probably would not hurt to get a better airbrush either. This one is the $10.00 Harbor Freight one with the 5 jars included.
Ouch, that sucks Goldhammer, if it's one thing I hate is going back and fixing stuff. I ended up with a big splotch of gloss coat on the Hellcat I'm doing for Ken's Berny GB. It's on the underside so I'm not sure if it's worth taking a chance to make a bigger mess sanding it out.
Hi Everyone,
A little more progress on my Zero. First, here is the seat the way it looked before I started to remove the molded on seat belts:
To remove the molded on seat belts, I thought I would try the new tool I recently bought:
I used the medium grade. Here it is mounted in my Dremel:
Here is how the seat looked when I finished using the Dremel:
I smoothed it out using some sanding sticks:
Notice how the photo etch seat belts are still attached after all the abusive handling! They are held on by Gator's Grip Hobby Glue.
Next step is to repaint the seat.
Ken
Ken, that turns out great, I remember you posting these sanding tips before on your own Berny Build and I thought I've got to get a set of these. I need to stop lollygagging around, they seem really useful.
progress! I ended up mixing some white into the red brown to lighten it up, I think it's looking good. Gonna mask up for green tonight
woah, how did you come by those molding flash sanders. And how can I get some?

Hi Tate,
The person has a really small operation. Here is his FaceBook page:
https://www.facebook.com/HobbyElements
And here is his email address:
hobbyelements_info@yahoo.com
Just send him an email with your contact information along with your shipping address and which product you want to order and he can send you an invoice via PayPal. It only took around 2 weeks to get mine after I sent the payment.
Really well done on the japanized 109 Doug

rtoo speed makes ugly results, too relax don't make results
Wow, that gun sight is tiny, your friend has really good eyes.
Again nice work on both though I even more on the Ki-55- I've said before how much I hate painting anything yellow!
Wow, those planes are lookin' sharp.
It's been a little while since I posted any WIP photos. I found a little time over the last few days to work on the Zero. I finished the cockpit, buttoned up the fuselage, and added the wing assembly and horizontal stabilizers. There is a pretty good gap at the wing root that will require some filling. At least it looks like an airplane now. So far things have been progressing smoothly. (Knock on wood).
Craig: Very nice work!
You guys have been turning out some outstanding cockpits.
time for a filter I think, what colour do you guys think I sholud go with?
Tates, BSY, Flyer Duke, WOW!!! Great work guys!
Doug (RR)
You guys are cranking out some fine builds!
I made a little progress on my Nate. The engine was assembled, painted and secured inside to the inside of the cowl ring. I cut a circle paper mask to protect it from the red paint. I also shot Tamiya IJA grey on the fuselage and wings then shot some Future to gloss up the finish to prepare it for decals and washes.
Tates & PJ: Those look really good guys!
Tates: If you want a filter to 'pull everything together' and give a slightly faded look I think I'd go with a tan or light brown. I'm no expert though.
