Absolutely superb work bsyamato!

The Betty was a scary plane, especially the fact that they could carry torpedoes and had just an ungodly range.

started also the rudders inner structures and added other details

some oxigen (?) cans

rebuilded the throtthels IP group after found better referencies

these more addings extend the wip but think i'll able to finish for the GB :)

Yeah, I love all the extra work Bsyamato puts into his models. Remember these are 1/72nd too- not 1/32nd!!!

Ok, stick a fork in this sucka- I think she's about as done as she gets.

I tried a couple of new things here and there, mostly happy with how she came out, though all that work I put into painting the camo scheme, which I covered most of it with the whitewash, and the the whitewash that I covered mostly with the Woodland Scenics 'snow'- I think you can see maybe a third of the work I put into the thing Bang Head

There are a few glossy spots on the engine deck- those are supposed to be there since I figured the heat from the engine would melt the snow and make wet areas. Ah well, here she is for better or worse:

Super nice winter tank.  Well done Cliff.

Buried up to my ears in a couple of National Forest plan revisions and a couple of BLM plan revisions as well due to my advisory council seat.  Got to get back to finish the paint on the Bety soon.  Once that happens the rest will go quick.  Maybe another month and a half before I get back to the little sweetheart.  Then we get to the big girls and the Phantoms.

Goldhammer: Ouch, sounds like you need a hobby after all that work! Good luck!!!

hi Cliff! - great winter weathering of your tank build, and overall looks to be a very fine representation of the Type 74  Yes  It looks you utilized Karl's mixture for the snow effects?

-------------------

bsyamato -  talk about dedication to detail, I don't think I would have the patience for this, specially knowing much of it will not be viewable when all is finished.  Good idea you are keeping a photo journal of all this extra work.

-------------------

Everyone, keep up the great work.  Hopefully I can find time to join in the second half.

regards,

Jack

Hey thanks again guys!

Jack: Yeap, I used 'Doog Snow FX' tm on the wheels and running gear. The upper hull and turret I put down an extra coat of matte clear and just sprinkled the 'snow' in it while still wet- seemed to work pretty well.

Thanks Jack :) i think this time lots of these detailing work will be visible (or just i hope so..)  even at closed fuselage. Clear parts are good and the top of canopy have two upper opened doors.

Other works on the peggy:

overall test fitting

last adds in the cockpit and bomber areas

covered the tail well upper hole (housing of tail wheel peg) with aluminium piece

Yesterday primed lots of things included the peggy :)

Hey Gam,

What would you think of the Mushashi shown on the bottom of the sea as she sits now, now that they found her, or was it the Yamato they found? Anyway, I could convert my "hanger queen" Yamato to depict her. It would take some research, but I wanted to pass it by you first.

Whoa Steve, that sounds awesome but also sounds like a pile of work. Hey, if you want to do it I'll be your number one cheerleader! (I'll have to buy a set of pom-poms though)

Thanks Gam,

It was the Mushashi Paul Allen found. I'll take a look at his documentary to see if there is anything I can glean from it. There may not be enough information to get an accurate picture, so I may do a hypothetical of the Yamato. Either way, it sounds like fun, and a ton of work.

I guess they found both of the battleships. The Yamato was found several years ago and Tamiya used their model to recreate the wreck.

So I will see if I can tackle the Mushashi wreck.

I am going to, or at least try to, construct the IJN Musashi as it sits 3,887ft deep (1185M) on the floor of the Sibuyan Sea, after being found by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allan in Mar 2015.
Now I have scoured the internet for pictures and watched Mr Allan's 2+ hour video of the find. I have found few reference photos as this is such a new find, but what I did find is the bow and stern are fairly close to each other, and the center of the ship was blow to kingdom come and strewn all over the Sibuyan Sea floor by what is suspected as one or more magazine explosions. The survivors stated that they felt at least one explosion after the ship had gone under. Now apparently the M, after receiving a murderous punishment of 19 torpedoes and 17 1000 lb bombs in six air attacks during the day of October 24 1944, went down 26 ft by the bow and finally capsized to port before slipping under taking 1023 of her crew.
Now I will try to recreate the wreck as close as I can with the reference photos available. I will only build the bow and stern as it would take a diorama the size of my dining room table to reproduce the wreck site in 1/350 scale.

So, with all that said, here is what I have to work with.
My 20 yo hanger queen of the Tamiya Yamato (old tool), which is fine as I wanted to get the re-tooled version.

A side scan sonar screen shot of the wreck site.

A pictorial "notes on the wreck" drawing which shows the known damage to the M.

Here's the start.
After studying the side scan radar, I realize that there's far more of the stern remaining than I originally thought. It looks like the hull, while torn off, extends along the keel to at least under the aft superstructure. Since the stern is buried in the mud, this won't pose any problems. I will need to recreate more torpedo damage though. This out to be interesting, and fun, especially since I've never scratch build damage before.

 .

**If anybody is interested in following this build closer, check out this thread.  Musashi wreck WIP  I will be updating it more often there than here to cut down on the amount duplications.**
