Dang it.

Guess I will have to see if I can clear my bench, hopefully by finishing something.

Thinking on this.

Theuns

Tom, I have the same problem.....I have the Tam P-51, Trumpeter F4u1d, , Trumpeter MiG 19 PM and the WNW SE5a..............all of them deserve the best building skills I can muster so I am a tad "carefull" on witch one to buld LOL.

Guys, if you have ideas for a badge please post them, we can vote on it  :-)

Theuns

I'm glad I'm not the only one! So many kits, so little time. Full bore and a lot of free time dedicated, it still takes me 6 weeks to complete one "properly" to my standards. I have that Tamiya P-51 as well, and I just ordered the new Tamiya Corsair...

I wonder if Tam will bring out a bubble canopy Corsair? I personally do not like the birdcage one.

Lord knows I don't know much... so i don't know if there ever was a Corsair with a bubble in the true sense like a P-51D, but the -1a was the 1st variation off the original with the bird cage and that was eliminated.

I'll get the badge ball rolling

Needless to say there were lots of photo choices to illustrate the concept but I would have been banned for sure Whistling

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Hey Theuns, looked at the name - and of course the avatar - and was sure you had to be from SA. Good to "meet" another!

I usually don't do this, but am busy on another GB with a subject that will both fit this GB as well, plus might have some mutual interest! Started off with a 77 Tyrrell P34 and then realised all the bits are in there to make a 76 version. So I am (very slowly!) busy building a Tamiya 1:20 Tyrrell P34 - Jody Schekter version, depicting the P34's only win in Sweden (and it was a 1-2 too boot!) Not doing any funnies, except converting it to the 76. Straight OTB build.

If it is okay to join this GB with that one as well, I'll jump in. Otherwise I will join later with another large scale one...

You're in luck! The 1/32 F4U-1A came out late last year. I've got one on the way actually!

Correctamudo Tom.  That's the one I'll be doing. Just got the Funkdekal sheet, Vector resin cowl flaps and the Barracuda diamond tread tire.  It grab a pic of the accessories later.  This kit is beyond awesome.

It was my fault buddy,

I was sure it was a Tamiya, until I looked. I'm going to look for some AM decals though.

Theuns,

My 1/32 Mustang is a Hase kit, not Tamiya.

I did that kit a while back. It's not too bad. Not much cockpit detail. The thing that sticks out to me is the gun panels were hard to get to fit correctly.

Tom I mistyped the name... Fundekals, not funk.Wink  Here's the decal sheets from the set. The tires and cowl flaps too.  The cowl flaps should be funIndifferent with all the tiny parts that make up all the flap actuators.

Here's a link to Fundecal site to download the full instruction sheet.  Lots of useful info.

This is the bird I'll be doing.

Oh cool. Nice decals. I like those schemes. Thanks for posting that. I have a feeling I'll be tackling that kit at some point soon. I have been collecting paints, pastels and other things for it . I'd probably make it a really weathered bird, since that didn't take long in the south pacific.

Yeah, those tiny parts. I think I have it figured out. Next time I build something with tiny parts, I'm just gonna do the build on the floor since I spend half the time down there looking for the parts anyway!

Too funny about building on the floor but at rhe same time I am thinking that not a bad idea.  Since I won't be busing a squadron of these if there is a part of that sheet you want let me know.

How was the engine detail? I haven't really taken a look as I bought it off of eBay used. I looked like it was all there. Would you suggest any other PE besides the cockpit? This is my wife's favorite AC and I kinda want to do it up nice, within price reason, of course.

The engine detail was pretty basic. I'm not sure about PE for it, since I didn't use any. It is a 40 year old kit though and could probably use some. It has some raised panel lines which was common for the time.

Geez Theuns, ya'll forgot about me on this one!!! Stick out tongue  I just stumbled on this GB this morn, and, as I'm a total addict, of course, I'm in!!! I've been wondering if my big Hansa-Brandenburg would find a home, SO, please include me with:

Wingnut Wings 1/32 Hansa-Brandenbug W.12 (Early). (AKA "The BEAST from New Zealand"...it's a big'un!!!!

Now, my WNW builds take bloody long, so, I'll be 'in and out' on this one. I usually take a year to do one WNW kit and this one's got like 15 sprues of parts. Bear with me and thank goodness there's a long period for this one.

Rob

No I didn't forget,,, I was waiting for you to turn up "fasionably late"  LOL

I will add you to the roster mate.

I am looking forward to seeing your WNW build. I am still trying to get enough courage to do my WNW SE5

Yes, my friend, you have to 'psyche' yourself up for WNW. They are BIG projects and demand so much attention that I have to distract myself from them. My AMC DH.2 took me well over a year due to 'rigging stress'.
