1990-1991 Gulf War 25th Anniversary Group Build

Tracks are on, painted fenders, added krystal klear to pericopes and headlights, and found a skull to use, its not a skull and crossbones like I wanted but its close enough for goverment work...besides you can tell by the attached pic, it wasnt exactly a modern art masterpiece on my track...it I remember correctly it was done with sharpie type markers...LOL. Grunt Life Forever. I have to go back to work tonight so it will be this weekend before the weather starts.

11B the track is really good looking, looking forward to the weathering. Sure, white is what you got for the C and B, use it.

Contrary to the hopes and dreams of the teeming masses, I am still around, and plugging away on the Enigma. I usually have to work on weekends, and mix in the holiday, sickness, and other stuff....and well, here we are. 

I've begun work on the turret. The bottom plate fit is a little sloppy and loose to the upper turret, but not a big deal once you get it locked down. As I mentioned before, the gun mantlet/cover is one piece and fixed in elevation, and it would be a major project to change it if you needed to for a diorama or something.

The two piece main gun barrel is about as good as you can expect from this kind of assembly. I have left mine loose so I can touch up the seams easier. An old Shep Paine trick is to carefully use some extra liquid glue here, and firmly press the halves together. Liquid plastic/glue will squirm out from the seam, and this can be easily shaved/sanded once it has solidified, without the need for putty.

Black might be a bit more tricky to find. I have done a search and can't see any. Only other option would be to make your own.

 

I am just going to go with the set from Archer, I am not set set up to make my own and really do not feel like putting out the coin to do so at the time for one decal. White will work, its for my personal collection, so a tad bit of "artistic license" will be ok. Thanks for the help.

Hey crazy, if that flame looks 1/4 as convincing in person as it does in the photograph, you're batting over 1,000. Cool!

Thanks... I had looked at the set from archer, I was trying to find a set in black, but looks like I might have to go with white. Not that big of a deal in the scheme of things.

Nice work on the Bradley. Not sure what size or style of skull and crossbones you need, but Archer has a set.

Decals on, I wil let them dry 24 hrs than apply flat coat and weather. While waiting I will be painting stowage and and othe gerat to add. Anybody know of a source of 1/35 skulland crossbone decals? I need one since we had a skull and crossbones drawn on our track to go with the name. Anyhoo...here are some pics.

Model Masters Sand FS33351 is an exact match to the color of my Bradley during Desert Storm. Project starting to come together, now I have to start painting all the fiddly bits, tracks and then decals...Tomorrow is going to be a full day of modeling.  Top pic is my Bradley deploying to Saudi....

I have been trying to find some images of tanks hit by TOW's but have found them pretty hard to find. But i think there damage you have done on the out side is a bit to much. The force of a HEAT weapon is all directed into the vehicle. I did find this photo, its hard to tell if the TOW hit this side, but as you can see, the damage here mostly seems to have been caused by the fire.

This one claims the TOW hit was on this side, i think its the hole in the turret. You can see how little actual damage there is on the outside.

Well here she is in all her 1/32 glory, Since the kit did not come with a skyshadow ECM pod I left port wing outter pylon empty.

you should do a short "how too" when you are done. take lots of pics as you progress so you have plenty to illustrate the write up. i speak from experience doing "how to lay your own railroad track."
