1990-1991 Gulf War 25th Anniversary Group Build

Interior on M2 is 90% done, mainly weathering. I added a few small items, such as handles and the latch on the rear hatch, and inside periscopes and the latch handle on the drivers hatch. I still have to add all the personel gear and weapons, rations, etc.

Been working on the torando for the past few days. Lastnight I sat down and started gluing the fuselage together , the parts fit so well I almost completed the major assemblies. I have some minor sanding and filling to do plus some cockpit bits to scratch up like cables and ducts.

Here is this monster next to my orginal 1/48 tornado entry. I think the ESCI tornado has just become my new skill builder/test piece.

You must have the steady hands of a watchmaker to hand paint that detail. Impressive!

 

Thanks Greg! The sidewalls were totally flat and void of any detail whatsoever, had to jazz it up a bit visually.

Ok. got some progress happening. Got the bang seats done, office done and attached to lower fuse. It was late when I attached the tub last night so when I get some more bench time in a couple days will button up the fuse. Going to HAVE to get used to filling and sanding on this one, but hopefully careful assembly will alleviate some of it. Anyways, here are some pics.

The office sidewalls aren't spot on, just painted to look busy.

There is a frustrating lack of aftermarket interior parts  for a M2A1 Bradley on the market. Looks like I will be honing up a my scatchbuilding skills to a certain extent. I am still looking for some water cartons and maybe water bottles. Any ideas on websites that might carry them?

 

 

BNA Models is is a good site. Lots of armor stuff. Don't know  what's for a Bradley though. Verlinden might be another.

Looking good guys! Will be at bench in a bit. Had a better study of kit instruction on the Mud Hen, everything should be right, hehehe upon closer inspection of diagram noticed I had test fitted panels in wrong place . Updates in next couple days

Carrier looking good, GM. Took me a while, finally found the forklifts on the razor blades.

Nimrod is looking good. Enjoying watching it come together, neat aircraft.

ModelC look at that melted aluminum stream. That is a great detail. And two of the roadwheels (at least) lost their outer halves.

Might want to consider the Tamiya T-72M1. It can be found for $35 or so, and is much nicer than the Dragon kit. The Dragon kit of the T-72 was one of their first releases, and is not up to their standards of today.

I be ready to jump in as soon as my Kirin kit arrives. It should be here in about a week or so. It doesn’t matter much if it isn't rivet counter accurate as it will be burning.

O i do very well Terry. really interested to see how you do this. When done well, it can look superd, such as that aircraft in the post wayne gave the link to. And i know you can pull it off.

Stik, I am gonna switch gears on the ESCI Tornado its caonpy frame is broken and its missing the clear pieces, So untill my scratch building skills improve its gonna go into the big bin of "to do later projects". Instead I found I have a revell 1/32 tornado which I will do instead. I dont know how the heck I missed that kit lol.

 

Ye, that would be a pretty hard one to miss Look forwrad to seeing that best come together. I take it its the ground attack version.

My first and only was born in 1990. Needless to say I was distracted during this whole war, although i really do follow the news.

Stikpusher is the example, you all, of a good GB leader. I put him in the same ranks of the greats, Darren, Frank.

Yup. In the deck-on picture, you can see the equipment park on a razor blade.

 

Looking good, GM!!  I built the old Revell kit back in the day and loved it, even with my mediocre skills at the time.  I remember the M60 tanks as being tiny.....looked at your pic, and it took me awhile to even find the razor blade, mutch less the fork lifts!!.....Getting older and losing some of your eyesight really sucks!!!  Coming along nicely, sir!!

I havent gotten far on my M2 build, due to working alot of OT. I have mangaed to get some progress on the interior, mainly masking and spraying the interior anti-slip, and ramp anti-slip, as  well as scatchbuilding the armor over the drivers periscopes... I have some more painting and initail interior weathering to do. I did manged to make the sign that greeting us as we crossed them berm into Iraq on G-Day. I will use it the mini-diorama that is in the preliminary planning stage. I have a 5 day weekend starting Thursday so I hope to get a good bit done on the M2. 

Thanks GM, I do appreciate that. But you are far too kind. There was a LOT going on in my life at that time as well. My oldest was born a few weeks after the Iraqi invasion in August, and I had just joined a Guard SF unit, transferring out of a Rifle Company. The typical paperwork lag and Snafus led to some serious upheaval a few months later, but all ended well enough for me... I was actually flat on my back with a back injury by the time of the ground war so I watched it all unfold from my bed on CNN...
