I am just experimenting with my airbrush to see how tight I can get it in there on the lower hull... we shall see...

Just some minor progress today- I attached the water channeling louvres to the rear of the upper hull side skirts.

I go back to work tomorrow, so no progress photos likely until my next day off on Sunday...

i always paint mine off the vehicle, especially trucks so i can weather the chassis easier. my trick with rubber band track is to leave the idler off, attach everything else, put the track together off the vehicle, put it around the sprocket and road wheels. put the idler in the track and stretch to mount the idler on its axle.

Hey GM, hows the nimrod kit overall as far as fit ?

 

It's OK. Big pieces of thin plastic. Lots of five digit holding. The plastic is not great with regard to solvent glue.

The instructions are bad. the color call outs are simple Humbrol ###; I knew that but they don't tell you. For anyone, there is a need to print out a chart, if you are using any other system.

And there's a bunch of errors where the funny papers don't show "same on the other side".

And the kit is up for something like 6 marks, there's quite a bit of drill here/ there for the different aerial arrays.

But it's a wondeful aircraft. As a real student of the Falkland War, I want to get another one and do her White over NMF. Except no, because it's already taken me a week of work days to get to this point. Big airframe, a lot of seams.

Carlos you are right but it's inches and inches of seams to putty. It goes on and on...

This a/c would be a great 1/144.

I now have decals for seven of them. Write me and we can make a trade. I'm doing Battlestar 42 because she has 4 ship kill marks.

B1 cool idea on the helo blades. i now have 5 OTS targets (aka helos) in my stash.

STIK i tried the circle template thing. PITA. i airbrush the base color and hand paint the rubber using MMA engine gray or Vallejo black gray.

nice work everybody. spent a whole day around people. i need a styrene break.

Progress on the puma is going along good. I ran some hot water over the rotor blades while they were tied to the handle of a mixing spoon to give them a droop. I am down to a little bit more weathering and cleaning up. I also have to run  some of the aerial wires that run from the side of the aircraft to the tail. Other than that she should be finished by next weekend.

I must say all builds are looking their part!!! Well done guys, I have committed to the Fleet Air Arm GB with my 1/48 Buccaneer. I know they participated in the Gulf but the scheme I have chosen years ago is not the Desert cammy. So dont think it would be apprpriate to enter here. Unles the illustrious leader sees the connection and will grant me a pardon on aircraft participation in said conflict Whistling

All the rest of you guys, I wish I knew enough about armor to make a half-intellegent comment. But I am definitely watching all projects with great interest and learning stuff already.

Been a long, hot week up here in the Armpit of NY. Just as that was coming to an end, I have had a cold the last few days. So, as I had expected, not much got done over the week.

Today I was able to get a few more pieces added, enough to get it to the point where the upper and lower hulls could be joined. I slapped some black paint inside the top and bottom inside back halves, just in case. The air intakes/screening on the T-55 is not nearly as prominient as on some tanks, but it never hurts to be sure. There is one piece of screening that needs to be added before the joining. The other two can come after. 

 

 

Not sure if I will get any more work in over the weekend yet. Without being boring, I have a medical problem that takes up a significant amount of time after work every 4 weeks for 4 days. So things might be on hold again until the end of next week. Good to see everyone's progress. My LHS still has some of those BMP-1s in both the ESCI and AMT boxes on the shelf. 

This vehicle is behind a fenced off area at a Reserve center about an hour from me. Unfortunately, it can't be approached any closer, unlike the M103A2 heavy tank that is also there. I don't have any details as to when/how/where it came to be here. I am guessing it was taken as a prize, most likely in the 2003 Iraq invasion.

As for me, yesterday afternoon with better lighting I was able to get a photo of the sub assemblies that I could not get done so well in the previous evenings...

and then yesterday afternoon I airbrushed on the first color for the exterior. Tamiya's new Tire Black on the road wheels and return rollers

Owl, Welcome Aboard! You have been added to the roster. Three types of F-111 were used in this war- E's, flying out of Turkey from the north, F's, flying from Saudi in the south, and EF-111As attached to both 111 units for EW support. Please let me know what kit you choose, so I can update your choice.

I have an old monogram 1/72 EF-111, but its mostly assembled and needs to be stripped (bad batch of primer, yuck!). Im guessing that is too far complete to qualify for the 10% stipulation ;)

I'm running up to the city today, so I will stop by the LHS and see what they've got!

My subject is 42 Squadron :Battlestar 42" XV 244.

Basic airframe in place. Inlets for the Spey turbofans in.

got some more done. i put the control section together and had to work on outside seam. sanded promed repainted and didn't feather enough so resanded and reprimed and painted. another lesson learned. there is a decaled instrument panel in the compartment. obviously wheel wells aren't going to be seen so my rough fillls and sanding were good enough. decided to paint chassis black. wheels are fit tight, no glue.

saw this little bogger i missed. since i might have missile in launch mode, grabbed some styrene from the stash, cut, promed and painted. it is sand, i used white to show what i was doing.

also got the Elevator and Launcher assembled. had to take a deep breathe and easily pry the rear of the glued and painted Elevator to fit the Launcher.  also had st scrap down the Elevation piston and ream out the cylinder on the Transporter sop they would fit. this kit has some nicely fitting parts. kneeling dragon gunner shows size.
