Elevenbravo87, that looks super good and the background photo is a great touch. At first sight I thought it was a real place instead of a model .

A question about that AK you are holding. The only AK with that front handle that I have seen were made in Romania. Were they exported to Iraq ar did Iraq made its own?

It's was Romanian and a export since it had Romanian and Arabic markings.

James, the bits attached to the rear of the turret, is that just stand off armour?

 

 

 

That is what it is. Something to give the rear of the turret a bit more standoff protection. Interestingy, the framework there was designed so that the supports for the extra armor there could hold one of the original stowage boxes, too.

Also, the forward most 'block' on the turret front left, the one with the big springs on it, was designed so that it could be raised up fairly easily to allow the driver to use his hatch, which would be blocked otherwise. 

 

Thanks james. I can see what you mean about the section above the driver, i would not want to have to bale out of there in a hurry though.

okay! Finished up a few other projects and opened up my bench! Again, this is the Monogram EF-111 Raven in 1/72 scale.

I got really excited and forgot to take cockpit pics before I closed 'er up, but here is the front section all ready to go

monogram devided an...interesting way of inserting the front fuselage to the main body. You just kinda slot things together?

As i am almost done with my He 219, i am now getting ready to start on my Challenger. As some may recal, i joined in this GB not only because its a great chance to star my small collection of modern British armour that i worked with and along side, but as well as being 25 years since the conflict, its also25 years since i joine dthe army. In fact, today is the exact day i stared my training in 1990, and so its also 3 years to the day when i came out of teh army. So its fitting i post this today.

So, this is the kit

And the AM i will be adding to it. The resin parts from Accurate Armour replace the kit sid skirs and fuel drums. The metal Sword tracks are new to me as i usually use Fruils, but i have herad good things about these.

Hopefully will have an update in a few days.

My next one is this

The Gator ship is a real hassle but she is almost done. I just spent most of a morning putting together a SPS-40 radar array.

I think this may be my second favorite GB ever, and certainly the first now. I would start thinking about repeats.

Hey can you get on board, if you haven't, for Buddy's weekend GB.

Ohg BTW I "pinged" that array. Spent an hour looking for it. Found it finally across the room. I really am screwed building 1/700.

I havent worked on a model since I finished the M2...but I am about ready to get back on it with a M1A1.

I guess its about time i got an update posted on the Chally. I got started on Thurs but i ended up making a few corrections i had not planned on so tehre not that much done yet.

Despite my background, i don't know all that much about British armour, well, apar from the warrior i should hope. So i am not planning on going all out with accuracy on this, close enough will do. But i have come across a few things on a build on another site recently which won't be to difficult to correct.

First thing i did was prime and paint the rubber on the wheels so they are all ready to have the hubs painted when i get to that. I did some damage to the rubber on the road wheels which i was rather pleased with.

I then got the lower hull done which didn't take to long, after all, its not a Dragon kit is it. After that, i aded the upper hull and have started fiting the smaller pieces. You can see the bits i have had to modify, from what i have read, these areas were those on the prototype not the production vehicles.

And that it for now. Going to crack on with the hull before i even think about the turret. I am considering a differant aproach to painting on this, so i will need to get the hull and tracks together first.

So I am close to finishing the LHA-1 Tarawa. There's mostly all of the mast head detail and rigging left. I'm pretty happy with the way she has come out, and I look forward to wrapping her up next week.

Now that it's been a little while and I have finally gotten back to it, I think it's ready for some paint.
