lol, not from me there ain't. After 3 years, i am taking a break. beshides, i have the Halftrack GB running, the SW in a few weeks and the RAF in April. I have learnt my lesson hosting to many at once.

Dan: Your recovery efforts appear to have produced excellent results. Kudos to you for a successful effort. I've got 2 Tamiya P-47's sitting unfinished with botched Alclad applications awaiting stripping and repainting. One of which was my 1945 GB entry and I just didn't have the gumption to strip and repaint at the time. Excellent redo on your part.

Bish: Well, per my normal M.O., I'll be a late finisher. What? You're skipping the renowned 75th anniversary of the war? I mean, really, how could you?

Dan, looks like you have had a real struggle with this one. Well done for sticking with it. >ets home it all looks good when the tape comes off.

Thanks Lostagain: Yes straight out the can, smooth and even. I see the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter. Excellent detail work. Balsa wood always comes in handy.

68GT: Nice RLM grey scheme on the 229.

Bruce: Nice airbrushing on your Type 4, sillyputty always comes in handy with camouflage.

Looks like I spoke to soon, thought that Tamiya TS-30 would seal over the Model Master Silver Chrome but the TS-30 would not cure to mask over. So I decided to strip the paint down to the primer and start over. I used orderless mineral spirits, went right through both Tamiya and Model Master paint.

After I washed the plane down with soap and water on Q-tips, I airbrushed on Tamiya X-11 Silver Chrome. About three to four light coats. For some reason X-11 didn't dry enough to mask, silver like powder would come up on the tape. So I sealed the X-11 in with X-22 clear, this has seemed to work.

After allowing the X-22 to dry I masked up for XF-62 Olive Drab, XF-16 Flat Aluminum & X-2 White. The X-2 white was put down first, for Model Master 1708 Insignia Yellow

But i do plan to run 80th Anniversay GB's strarting in 2019 and running all the way til 2026.

Now there is planning ahead for you.

Ok guys, we are almost into the last month of the GB. Some great work so far and looks like we will have some great builds at the end.

But please remember, feel free to keep posting after the GB ends. I don't want anyone, especially lost, to feel they need to rush just to meet the end date.

As long as you keep finishing them, i'll keep adding them to the front page.

Oh Yeah, Outstanding flurry of activity going on here as of late.

Lost: Kudos on the epic progress. You certainly do an admirable job finishing out a vacu form kit.

Ed: That is a sweet camo sheme on your 229. Adds to the stealthy appearance. Well done.

Bruce: Good to see you at it. You have pulled off a very impressive shading effect. It looks great. that effort is going to pay off for sure. I can honestly say that when I get around to some armor modeling that there will definitely be some wheel masks involved. You're on a roll. Keep it coming.

She is looking good Bruce. Great to some paint on. Theres plenty of road wheels there, that could almost be German.

Here is an update on the Type 4. The road wheels are painted.

I bought a quick wheels mask that works awesome! I will buy more, for other tanks!

I primed with Tamiya surface primer, then shaded with MM gunmetal enamel. Then sprayed three light coats of Vallejo Parched Grass Primer as the base coat.

The first two pictures are of the initial coat.

These two pictures of the final coat and how the tank sits now before the camo pattern is applied.

I hope to cover the tank with silly putty and spray the camo pattern tomorrow.

I like your choice of scheme 68. It definatly suits a flying wing like that.

Hey LA, great seeing more progress there! I thought most people swiped prop blades from other kits, you're tha man for building them from the kit parts!

LOL!  Very true.  I'm going to take new pics tonight.......away from the LED's in the paint booth.

First off Matt, hugely impressive build there. The scheme looks great (like Jack said, I could see shades of a He 51 in Spain), with the scrounged panels adding to the end of war feel for the build. Great setting and weathering too, a real beauty.

Dan, Good save with the TS30. Was that straight out of the can?

Joe, I tried masking hinomarus for the 1945 GB with tamiya tape. Let's just say it was a learning experience which took a few goes. But I like to try something new on every build.

AND this one has been no exception. I am now 10 months into building my MB5 and have hit a milestone - for the first time I have glued kit pieces (as against all the scratchbuilding) together! I glued all of the control surface and wing halves together, there is still a lot of clean up to go as the vac form pieces are not nice and sharp. Trailing edges are raggedy - partly my fault. Tail surfaces will need to have fabric appearance improved, and trim tabs defined.

Inside there is a lot mre structure now - partly to minimise sanding dust getting into the cockpit when the final assembly happens.

I have got to the propellors now. Here you see the progression from a raw vacform to sanded out, then with a brass shaft installed and the flat back side built up with white milliput and tamiya filler. still needs a final surface before it can be used as a cast master. And I need to do the same for the opposing blade style.

The other thing I got a start on was the ventral scoop, Mustang style. Taking inspiration from Dan, I set up a balsa rig, taped the scoop sides on then glued in styrene spacers. After these set and the frame was out of the rig, I glued on some 10 thou for the skin. I have left it to set before trimming off the excess, then it is ready to glue in in the final steps.

So I am seeing some progress, but the to do list is not getting shorter, just more detailed.

Just did the Weekend Madness GB, which was a great relief to actually see a finished model for a change! A bit of therapy really...
