So Bish, I believe I will start on the bike, kublewagon and 88 prior to the 250, that way I won't be boring everyone with unrelated builds before to getting to the Grief. That is unless you would be interested in all these other items.

Another intersting bit form missinglynx concerning the Wehrmacht's practice of towing in relation to the ground surface:

A POW (a Leutnant of 2./le.Art.Ers.Abt.17, captured in Tunisia in May 1943) stated that on hard surface roads any of the Zugkraftwagen could haul, over considerable distances (at least 100km), three times the weight for which they were designed. For example, the 3-ton model could haul 9 tons etc. For cross-country performance, however, it is laid down under the K.A.N. regulations that one third of the available power of the tractor is to be left in reserve. Thus the le.F.H. weighing approx. 1,930kg is towed by the 3-ton tractor, and the s.F.H. weighing approx. 5 tons is towed by an 8-ton tractor.

There's all kinds of things I can throw in there. I have am BMW motorcycle and Kublewagen as well that could be part of the scene all for one ltttle 250 build.

Hmmmmmmm, now you're giving me the idea of a dio with a big half-track like a Sd. Kfz. 8 or 9 with the hood up and a group of guys trying to figure out a way to tow the gigantic gun with a tiny little 250...

Thanks guys, I didn't think so. I was going to do a knocked out HT but I also want to build an 88 or 10.5.  Now I'm thinking a scene with either of the guns and thr HT near by.

It looks like I'm in for some reserch.

I doubt it, would have been to heavy. And even the 251/3 and 4 had to have a special tow cuppling to tow a 10.5cm.

Bish,

Do you know if the 250/3 command variant was ever used to tow the 88 or 10.5?

Yes, I thought it's something a little different. Wink

It kinda looks German... Wink

Well Bruce, a German half-track would be green stripes over a yellow base.

This halftrack is yellow stripes over a green base so it's the total opposite and therefore completly different.   Stick out tongue

LOL! Cliff, thanks for the laugh today! That was an excellent explanation!

Looking forward to seeing you build this American half-track.

Yeap, one review had the instruction sheet posted and there was one that fought on Luzon pictured with this weird camo scheme. Looks like the Marines painted sand coloured stripes all over the OD.

If I can find a good deal on Dragon's M3A1 or M2/M2A1 US half-tracks by the end of the year I might have to jump in here. Wink

Sorry, Cliff, I only have German HT's in the stash.

Hope you decide to join!

Jack thanks for posting this one. I have been looking for half track figurers and they got some good ones.

Robert

Robert, this is the other halftrack set they do.

I', not sure i will buy either set complete, but i think i would combine several from each along with some plastic figures which have similar poses.

Even though i have no problem with so much German armour, it would be nice to have some variety. I hope you can jump in.

Glad to be of help guys.  The set I linked is currently on promotional sale, saving you $15 and putting each figure at $15 each.  Quality sculptings like these usuallly go $18 to $24 a piece.

Thanks for posting that jack. I have been eyeing up another halftrack figure set they do. They are priecy but you can buy them indivdually if you don't want the full set. I'll be keeping an eye out for these.
