And if you need help with the figures there's loads of videos on YouTube. I wish I'd had it back when I started painting them- it was more like stare at photos in a book and try to figure out how the painter went from step 5 to step 6 at times. 

 

Well sad to say it wasn't a good day with the airbrush. I had issues all session with small spatter. I tried low and medium pressure, I made adjustments to the paint and no resolve. I am disappointed with the camo job I applied. After the A/B session I broke down the gun to clean it and noticed I forgot to change out the needles....I had a #3 in the gun when I should have changed it to a #2 needle. I am not sure if that makes a difference. I remember reading that for small detail work and lines use the #2 needle.

I made mistakes this build....but I also learned a lot from those mistakes. I quess I need to stop beating myself up since this was only my third build. I'll get there one day lol.

While the paint and some small parts glued were drying I got started on the dio base

Hunter, I like how this is progressing.  You can always go back in and airbrush the base vehicle colour to clean up the camou over spray.

Looking good Hunter. I agree with jack, a thin overspray of the DY will help, just one or two light passes will do.

Great, thank you Bish....I don't know if not changing the needles caused this, but no matter what I did I was getting a wide stripe. I plan on fixing that.

I am inching closer to finishing this build. At this point I have the tracks and figures left. I have made a lot of mistakes during this build...but I have learned a lot from this build. This has been the first of many...track build, figures, camo scheme and a dio. Even with all the errors and redo's I have had a great time building this.

I got the dio base done today....halftrack coming soon.

I have along way to go to produce a truely outstanding build and dio....but the journey will be worth it. Thank you for looking. Tips, suggestions and any insight is much appreciated.

I got the dio base and figures done. I have the tracks glued and letting them dry for a few hours. I did ok with the figures for it being my first time...still have along ways to go to where I am pleased with them. All have left is to attach the tracks and she's done.

Hunter, that dio looks very well done. 

Am impressed with you've done in the time frame, not a weekend project, but still is quick compared to my output.  I think the only thing I would of done different, is maybe some uneven ground, and place the left side bush a bit inward so those added elements are not all on the base edge?

Nice job Hunter, thats come out wel and a nice quick one as well. Like the layout, the only thing i would have done different is to have the pile of rockets over to the right to give a bit more balance. But i would have been very happy if my early dio's had loked like that.

Hunter the guys have good advice there but I'd say this is pretty darn awesome for a first diorama!

Cliff you are way to kind....thank you sir. I am hooked on dio's now lol. I appreciate the kind words and encouragement.

No worries Hunter, i know you had good reason to be absent. I'll put the badges back up on the front page when i get a chance so be sure to grab one.

I've been doing diorara's for about 30 years now so pretty used to it. Once you have done a couple you soon get your eye in. I've heardit said that diorama building is the hardest form of modelling because so many things have to be right. The best model in the world can be spoilt by a poor dio and visa verca.Your certainly off to a very good start.

I can see what you are saying about the dio or base being spot on. If that looks horrible or odd it will throw off a great looking kit build. I am hooked on dio's now...I enjoy building kits, but then having to use your imagination to create a scene to diplict what is going on is awesome. Plus it's an excuss to go online to purchase dio supplies and kits lol  Thanks again sir.

Check out plenty of photo's, you will get some great dio ideas. The trick can often be finding figures that fit your scene rather than fitting the scene to go with the figures you can get. But there are lots out there and with a bit of modification who can usually get them to look how you want.
