Oh wow, a week without a post here? And sharp work on the F-111 Bish. I saw her, meant to comment and it must have slipped my mind.

I have gotten the Viper to almost ready for paint. As I think I've said this is my first Kinetic kit. Great detail but the fit isn't too great and the instructions are horrible.

I've started the Crusader. The office is complete and I started to dry fit the assemblies into the fuse. I sprayed the dreaded gloss white in the interior.

Hey BK, could I join this one with Hasegawa's 1/72 F/A-18F Super Hornet? It will be my first modern aircraft.

Thanks G. Though to be honest, i am just trying to get it done, don't really have the heart for it, but i can't let the club down.

The 16 is coming on nicely. I have never built one of their kits myself, sounds like a mixed bag.

Thanks Bish,

It is all kit, in fact this will be the first kit review I will be putting on YouTube in slideshow form with accompanying text. I'm too self-conscious and I cough too much (due to the IPF) to do a vid.

Wow thanks! It's nothing special, just base colors, dry brushing with black and light grey and a black oil wash.

I'll post a link when I get it done.

Not too much has been accomplished on the F-8, just small steady progress.
This kit is turning out to be a winner. It has very nice fit and outstanding detail. The speed break can be positioned open as well as the wing positioned in the up position. The wing slats can be positioned in the lowered position, but one would probably want to add some track detail they were in that position. Most of the time I think I'm building a Hase kit until I look at the box and remember it's an Academy.

Kudos again Academy!

I had a week off from building while i finally moved into my own man cave and out of the dinning room. I got back to the 111 and soon realised my heart is really not in this. After my HMS Victorious and now this, i know i really have to be into a subject to build it with the passion it deserves. I'm even thinking about selling off a small number of kits of subjects i don't have an interest in.

But, i am determined to finish this one off as quick as possable just so i can take it ot the Dec club meet. I kow its not very professional, but every minute i spend on this is time i could be building something else. So, for what its worth, this is where she sits now.

I got the assembley finished, the canopy is not a goot fit, to narrow and a buldge on top where it meets the fuselage, so i had to clamp that down.

Then painting. I used the colours Acdaemy suggested, thoguh i don't think its completly accurate if my Hase kit instructions are anything to go by, but this was good enough for me. And then the decals, these went of pretty well for Academy decals.

So all i have left is the wheels to add and the canopy frame to paint an di can call this done, with any luck by tomorrow.

I know how you feel. I have had a few kits in the past where I kinda wanted to start on it but when I did I lost steam on it pretty quick, then it becomes a strugle.

For not being into it you are doing a great job Yes.

Thanks Steve. I wasn't al that keen on starting it to be honest. I certainly won't be entering the Secret santa again. Some people seem to be able to build just about anything, i just can't do it.

On the plus side, i have my favorite variant of the 251 up next, i can get my teeth into that.

Yeah, I'm finishing up the F-8 (I have some pics before paint) build and install the AA guns for the U-boat, then on to my 251. I'm looking forward to that oldie but goodie .

Bish, I too get where you are coming from. However, the Ardvark holds a special spot in my heart as those were the jets we had at my base when I was in the AF. So, for me it's a special plane. I feel how you do right now about my dual P-40's, so they sit unfinished, for now. AND don't give up on the SS, just be somewhat more specific about what you want and then you won't get something you don't like. Anyway, she is looking very good. I am excited to see it standing.

Speaking of secret Santa, isn’t about time that came back up?
As promised some quick pictures of the F-8. Nice thing about this AC is the wings and stabilizers are movable in the fuse so no need to fill any gaps when they are installed. This will allow me to paint with the wings and stabs uninstalled which will cut down on masking. I should get to paint next, if I don't find anything missing. I am building this as a pure fighter. The kit came with bombs to sling under the wings if desired but I prefer the fighter loadout.

I do have a bit of a thing for the 111, the lakenheath based airrfat were always in the skies where i lived when i was much younger, so i was actually quite happy when i picked this out of the pile. I do have an EF i bought in 72nd scale, but i guess this subject in this scale just isn't flating my boat.

Thanks for the encouragment.

I have made a small start on the U-Boat while i was letting the EF dry, bt not enough for pics. But i will put that aside once i start the 251 and get back to it after, its been keeping me saine lol.

Nice work on the F-8. Am i right in thinking that the aircrfat where the whole wing tilts. I have never worked out the purpose of that.

Yes, the entire wing tilted. The tilting wing increased the angle of attack during takeoff and landing. It apparently worked well but not well enough to incorporate on other designs.

Thanks Steve, that makes sense. I guess its advantage is probably outweighed by the complication of it. Evey time i see a model of one of these i am loking at it thinking something just does not look right.

Bish: Nice progress there and I think we all know what you mean about starting something and then losing interest. My hats off to you for pushing though instead of tossing it back in the box like I too often do.

Bish buddy:

As an old timer in this hobby, interests come and go and most of the time returns. Sometimes wishing you had never sold that or the other one.

I have found myself selling off stuff on eBay and months or years later and then was buying the similar ones I sold off. Just food for thought.

Anyway,  both yours and Steve's are coming along.

Agreed.
I don't know how many times I've kicked myself for selling that 1/350 HMS Prince of Wales with a PE set no less, or my 1/700 IJN Kongo, again with a PE set and especially the 1/32 Tamiya F-4.
There are too many others to list.
