Mourningstar and Scorn are two different people! rofl Mourning lives here in my house and our computers are in my garage. We play an awful lot of Multi-player military games but both love modeling. He just recently picked it up and I have been doing this stuff for over 18 years. Only the last 3 years (cummulatively) have I gotten serious about it though.

Had to read through the threads, but now that I know that there is no set end date, I will definatly do it. I just need to finish the M-51 and get that out of the way. But as what to do???????????? I'll have to look around. I don't think that I will do the Dragon Wagon on this one, I wan't to put alot of extream concetration into that one.

Edog and Phroosh,,,,, I got started on redoing the turret on my 222 and what a pain that was, I ended up cutting out the bad section and fitting in a piece of styrene in. I think if you cut out just that small section that is bad then you should be able to fit in a new piece with the proper direction on it. I haven't checked it out since I did it last nite but I am hopeing it will turn out alright.

Now the mesh that you guys are talking about is on the turret top correct? I'm at work now but will compare the pic that edog posted to what I have. Right now I am not exactly sure what you are talking about.

Also Chris you can put me down for the Sd.kfz 222 and the M8 on the Group build site.
The site looks perfect.

Glad to hear you have got a bit of the nastiness out of the way, Rich, I hope it looks the goods.

The screen that Edog and I have been moaning on about is actuall on the hull top. It is moulded on detail on the Tamiya kits; it appears as diamond pattern treadplate just behind the turret. We are both doing interiors, which makes it a must fix! Edog is working on a bit of an idea at the moment, and I am being a chicken and waiting to see how he goes.

The turret mesh is another interesting one. Have you got the new kit with the PE grenade screens or the old one? I have the old 223, but I am not that fussed about that bit. It is much more of a feature on the 222. The old kit supplied stuff isn't too bad anyway.

I think (tentatively) that I am going to do an Israeli M3 half-track.

Do you want in-progress shots for this build or just final product?

Hey Matt,, Ok I see what you are talking about,,, Yeah that is a bit of an undertaking. Upon first looking at it I thought maybe taking a pin vise and drilling it out might work but then I thought, no that probably wouldn't work because then the grating might look to thick. Worse you could miss one of the holes and then you would make it look worse.
By the way were did you find a internal engine compartment for yours?? Considoring I have already done some major modifications to mine I might be persuaded to do some more. Also as soon as I finish the turret modifications I will post them so you can see what I did.

Ok, ok, here we go beav, big deep breath deep breath,
Please no more Dragon Wagons-as they are now deemed "big AFV's" and could be built in another GB...that is to say, we can't do the monsterously large AFV recovery/towing vehicles such as Dragon's, FAMO's, and M977-unless you do a cab, which, I am not sure if that is even an AFV. Sorry...
PS, since many don't hit an end date anyways, just try to finish by May 20-but you can keep building after that..

OK well I have decided to do the Tamiya US M20AUC, but do you know how hard it is to find referance material on it. I have only found one actuall pic for it and that one wasen't all that great. If anyone has any live shot of it for referance that would be great.

thx in advance Les

put me down for the lyinx and universal carrier. Still haven't ordered them, but i will be doing them, or one of them. I agree with beav, this is a SMALL AFV GB, Dragon wagons and famos are as big as they get.

I like the site. My Sd.Kfz. 250/3 is in progress. I got the kit for cheap so I guess I shouldn't be disappointed with the detail, but I am. Nevertheless, I'm considering building it mostly-OOB (I'm certain that I will be unable to resist adding some sheet brass/styrene additions though!). I also have a few PzKpfw.IA variants on the table and they are smaller than the SdKfz 250 - do they count for this build?

Yep, it sure is a job. I have come up with a couple of PE mesh/ nylon mesh ideas that would look oaky, but am certainly still looking for the magic answer. My towed gun build hit a bit of a wall last night (not literally........yet.) so I might have to stop pouting on the sidelines and make a start. I am doing my interior from scratch, and am a bit undecided on whether to try an engine or not. Edog has some aftermarket bits and pieces I think but he would have to tell you exactly what (it's somewhere in this thread, too). It is a little hard to get aftermarket bits and pieces here in Oz. Well, here in South Oz.

Love to see your photos, because even though mine is a 223, I would like to do a 222 again (I have a finished one) especially after learning a bit more from this build.

Matt

Great work on the site, Chris, I will get Padawan to make his mind up between an M20 and an M8 soon.

The build, has begun, but, we will wait for you to get your parts in hand.
I love where people just think of a little addition to their model-such as a bike, there is a sherman in the new fsm, and you can just imagine what they did with that.

Matt,, Edog and anyone else doing the sd.kfz 222 or 223 here are my modifications to the turret. hopefully they show up if not, they are on rons Site at the very end. The second picture shows the side that I think turned out better (more of an angle) basically I cut out the bad section plus a little bit of an angle forward to give it the forward look like in the previous post by edog I think. Then I just measured out a small piece of styrene to fit in there. I haven't put any putty in the seems yet but as soon as I do and then Paint it I will post those pics as well.

Well after much perseverence I got the pictures to show up.

Well here are some very early pictures. Still have to sand down the putty (squadron green)and touch up the paint. I added a cable to the winch. I don't have any pictures of the winch or the undercariage of an actual Ford Quad so I am not sure if it is correct. That's the engine on the side. The only thing I will add to that is the spark plug wires.

Hey we can add the Small AFV Group Build badge to our signature even if we haven't finished.Tongue [:P]
