That's a lovely piece of work Theuns. Congrats on a really cleanly executed camo scheme. It looks much better than it ever did on that shelf. That makes three models pulled from the shelf and completed in this GB so far. Are you going to work on the Ant soon ?

My warrior is getting close too, should be done this week.

Cheers

Here is my Italeri 1/48 MB 326k (Atlas Impala Mk2,licence built in south africa)

It is a rather basic kit but buiulds ok OK. The colours are of the South African AF as the Brazilian AF bought ex SAAF planes.

Humbrol Dark earth/Dark green over light admiralty grey.Mid sheen alclad clearcoat to seal it all in.

The decals worked very well indeed.

That's starting to really look the part Theuns, nice work. You're getting it done quickly too.

I've been painting the head and cape of my figure. Another photo soon.

Definitely looks like green now Theuns. You're racing ahead with this one. Great consistent demarcation of the two upper surface colours BTW.

Here you can see how the clear acrylic changes the look of the green.

Th green does look wrong on the screen. I have also found that clearcoat for decals tend to alter the green and make it a bit darker.

Thanks Theuns, standard colours after all. The green had a blue grey look on my laptop which got my attention.

Here's a status update on the figure:

Model master dark earth, humbrol dark gren over humbrol 147 light grey. The colours look a littl less "bold" indoors ,the light outside is very bright.

Thanks Theuns.

Here is an update on the Briton Warrior, which I've been diligently working on.

He's just placed on the base at this stage, not glued on.

I'm calling the norman Knight complete, so that's two models off the Shelf of Doom where they've resided somewhat uncomfortably for at least 13 years. I'm actually happy with this one :)

They all sound interesting Theuns. I hope one of them is interesting to you.

I hope to finish this figure today, so while I'm on this figure panting bender, I might as well throw in a Pegaso 54mm Briton Warrior, 1st century AD that I started concurrently with the Norman Knight, back in the early noughties. Photos to follow.

Theuns, thats a spot of bad luck for you. I hope it's not too noticeable. What other decal options do you have ?

This 326's canopy is fighting me all the way.

After the initial oops with the canopy, I fixed it all noce only to have the tamiya thin cement wick up a little between the windshield and instrument pannel....ah well I can live with it.

I got the primer on this afternoon and hope to get paint on be the weekend. Still undecided on the final colours ,the kit gives a nice set of decals but as usual the decals for the South African AF is all wrong :-(

Here's the next update on the figure. it seems an odd thing  to say, but I'm really happy with the way the stone wall turned out.

You got out of that very well Theuns, that can often to quite a lot of work.

Here's a photo of my completed Airfix 54mm American Soldier 1776. It's the thirs 54mm American War of Independence figure that I've done. To be honest, I'm too too happy with this one, but there are lessons learned from it.

Moving on to this one:

Here's where it was at when I picked it up again.

Basically, it's a white metal figure. I had primed it, and sprayed the two halves of the tunic. I'd even done the shading on the yellow half, but not the green half. After using oils on my previous figure, and being a little frustrated, I intendto use mainly Humbrol Enamels for this one, as Bill Horan does.

I've made significant progress over the weekend. Finished the shading on the tunic and chainmail, attached the right arm, and completed the base. It's glued down now, although the figure is just sitting on it loosely for the photo. I've just started the face.

Cheers

I had a slight oops on my impala, the superglue I used to put the bangseat in was not fully cured and I saw a white buildup on the inside of the glued on canopy! I was lucky enough to lift iy off the fuselage without cracking it, the cement had not fully cured yet.

A wash in water and a quick dip in future solved the problem. As soon as the canopy is dry I can re-attatch it and hopefully move onto primer.
