Must say there has been a lot of great model building going on here. While I have been absent from the forums, I have not neglected my model. So here is an update with the TIE fighter.
I completed the cockpit.
I decided to put in some semblance of a harness as I don't think these fighters had internal gravity. Even with gravity though, it would not do the pilot well to try to hold themselves in the seat while dogfighting. Then I primed the external parts with a Valspar white primer. Then I sprayed the red marking using Valejo red and mahogany red mixed and thinned with water. First time doing this with Valejo paints but it worked out really well. Masked this off in preparation to paint the black. That is what I have for tonight. I will have the next update tomorrow. -Stephen

I received the crew yesterday and just completed the build tonight, so here it is.
Thank you for hosting the GB Aaron, is was fun and hope to join another FSM GB.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Steve, now that is just incredible work, and all this in less than a month, wow!
I really like the tonal shades on the deck, and your water as always, is top shelf stuff.
regards,
Jack
Yep, great work Steve, those figures really add more life to it. Please tell me they are pre painted.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
TIE is coming on nicley there Stephan.
Rob, i did an AT-AT once of those last year, really enjoyed it. Look forward to seeing that.
Thnaks Theuns, i was quite pleased with the result on the engine.
That is really outstanding Steve! I'm in awe of your water skills and really enjoyed your build!
Really enjoyed your shuttle as well Bish.
Lots of other great stuff here too. Hard to keep up with it all.
Thanbks razor. And ye, this none really has some legs of it. Most active GB i have seen in a while.

No, They came from Gold Medal Models unpainted, but at that scale a little light blue for the top, dark blue for the bottom and a white spot on top does it. The bomber crew are one brush with kaki.
They definetly work. I might have to get some of those. At least in that scale i don't have to worry about the eyes.
Bish,
LOL they come in their customary GMM envelope but you really have to look for them inside. The 4 cm sq. tree comes with 100 figures.

Great work here on this GB. Steve, again, you amaze me.
I did not have a good weekend, I painted the red stripes on one side of the tail on the TBD opposite than on the other, then to top ot all off, the sewer backed up into my basement workshop, so I am off line for a few days, unless I have to replace my sewer, then I may be gone for a while.
Scott
Super work everyone. Very inspiring!
Here are some more progress pics of the I-16's. I might be done with them tonight, so more pics should come soon. I'm doing a bit more weathering on them since they are Russian and they had some crude airports (if you could call them that), so more grime and dirt was probably common. The skis on the one I-16 are the first I've ever tried. Pretty cool I think. Hard to tell in the pics, but did some wearing on the wing where they got in and around the cockpit. Thanks for looking.
Bobby
Eagle those are some nice little fighters you have.
Scott, sorry to here about you sewage problems. Hopefully the rears will be quick and cheap.
Going forward with the TIE fighter, I spayed the main color.
Joining the parts show a pretty good gap in the join seems. Putty and sanding was definitely needed for this. No one really needs to see that so no pics, sorry. After getting the model together I did some weathering. The model is now finished except for a stand. I did not like the one that came with the kit. It was sturdy enough, but the model is heavy which makes the stand wobbly.
So here is the finished model.
And here is a comparison with a 1/72 finemolds TIE fighter.
Thanks NucMedTech! And those Tie's look awesome!
Alright, here are a few more pics. Hoping to actually finish them tonight (but my daughter and I have been on an X-Men movie marathon and she is asking about tonights show! LOL).
A little more weathering and final touches. Should be doing decals soon.
Well, I didn't get to finish them tonight. Have a couple of more coats of MicroSol to go on, the windshields to do, and a final dull coat to seal them both. Hopefully tomorrow. Enjoy.
Howdy All,
Steve, sorry about the plumbing problem, best wishes there.
I destroyed my airbrush last night trying to get the Wildcat in primer before the weekend. It is a long story that may be retold but not now. Nothing going to happen until the new airbrush arrives in the mail on Wednesday (I wont be able to pick it up until Thursday eve, another long story about living where I do).
Now I will have to attempt marathon building this weekend. Yahooooo!
Cheers
Chris
The oxen are slow but the Earth is patient.
Sprayed some magnesium metalizer on some more of my Dom parts:

I'll probably prime the light blue parts tomorrow, as well as do some buffing of the magnesium parts.
NucMedTech, great looking TIE build.
I need to brush up on the star wars series - which was this one from?
I like those I-16's, nice work.
Them space ship things aren't so bad either, but I'm pretty sure I'd get spacesick if I tried to fly one like they do in those movies. Or maybe just wind up smeared like paste on the wall because of the G-loads!

I didn't realise those Revell kits were that big. That looks real nice.
O, Scott, thats not good.Hope its not to bad a fix.
Looking good there Bobby. Nice job on the white wash.

Thank you sir. They are cute little kits and have been fun doing.
Bish Looking good there Bobby. Nice job on the white wash.
Thank you sir! Was worried about how much weathering to do on it, but doesn't look too bad.
