It's the 1st March here, so it seems like a good time to join. I have a Hobby Boss 1/72 Dornier 335. The parts are off the sprue, but I think it's unstarted other than that. I'm thinking of using some post war French markings that I have.
Can I enter that please ?

I'lll start on my 1/72 AC-130H Spectre tomorrow. It's been a while since I've done a C-130, or a prop plane for that matter.

Jumped the gun a touch last night, put on the decals outlineing the window cutouts for the O2-A. will get them drilled out today, and start fitting those windows. Pics in a couple of days.

Some back-story on my history with this kit. On opening it, I found it was missing the E-sprue - although it had an extra D-sprue. fortunately, the E-sprue is small and I had some of the unused E-parts left over from a Blenheim Mk IV that I built in 2015. In the end, I found that if I built it "wheels up" I could scratch build a few parts (mainly in the cockpit) and have a complete model. Funny that in a Multi-Prop group build - this one won't have any real prop blades - they were on the E-sprue as well. I'll have to resort to clear disks, prop-blurr, or something else to remedy that. I'm not gonna get kicked out - am I ?

As long as somthing "resembles" props, be it disks or prop blur is't all good :-)
Is that the new tool Airfix kit? I have built a few of their new tool stuff and they are generaly very nice, the decals are usually fantastic!
I will post pix of my propsed build soon, it is an ancient monogram/revell B-17g 1/48....got it from a mate with no decals. I am thinking of what to build it as. I am not a fan f the USAAF OD over grey, it is to big to give feel to the monochrome scheme and the NMF is cool but have no decals :-(
I am thinking maybe a RAF B-17 Mk3 in dark earth/green over black....

Yes - the Blenheim Mk I is a new tool kit. It shares most of the parts with their new Blenheim Mk IV. I think the only difference between the two kits is the sprue for the clear parts. The noses are very different. In my opinion they are very nice kits, but there are some issues that I will know how to deal with after building the Mk IV last year. The cowling at the front of the nacelle needs slightly more circumference to fit around the engine. The canopy is a bit tricky being a two piece affair - split in the same manner as the fuselage. But the fit of the wings and fuselage is superb. The detail in the interior, turret, control surfaces, gear bay and bomb bay is very nice - especially for a 1/72 kit. The decals are very nice (Cartograph) The only change I might make is to give it some different grey code letters so that it is not the same as everyone else's.
I saw one of your posts in another thread about the RAF dk earth/dk green/black scheme for the B-17. That looks like a winner !
Got some time on my old Monogram 1/72 F-82. Havent decided on paint scheme yet but its ready for priming

Here's where I've got to with my Dornier 335. As you can see, unconventional Hobbyboss parts break up.
Finally have some progress to report, lol. I did get started on Wednesday, but it was just painting a few parts. I got the cockpit stuff painted and put together today. Simpy going by the instructions and painting some details as I see fit. Once completed this will be the 5th C-130 in my collection.
Nice to have a See-one thirsty in the GB :-)

A lot of interesting kits here - of a/c that we don't often see built up on this forum.
Tonka - The F-82 is looking good so far. The Monogram kit goes together pretty nicely. I just finished one last month. Looking forward to seeing your build.
Tony - Nice Arrow - this will be interesting.
Keyda - That's a very roomy cockpit on the Spectre. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was that it looked like the bridge of the Enterprise. I can just imagine Sulu and Chekov at the controls.
Theuns - Looking forward to seeing what you do with that monster.
Got the fuselage windows and wing/roof windows cut out and fitted. Hope to get the interior painted and assembled this next week. Couple of pics for now.
That's a pretty interesting looking aircraft you got there, lol. Neat looking. I'm assuming it's an older kit, never seen one before.
It is the military version of the Cessna 337/Skymaster. Was used in addition to and as replacement for the O-1 single engine "birddog" forward air control (FAC) in Vietnam. If you watch the movie "Bat 21" it plays a prominent part.
The kit can be done as the "A" version with the windows in the top and right side, or the "B", without them, and then it looks closer to the civilian bird. (the "B" also has different props/spinners to more match the civilian)
If you fill the pylon holes in the wings and find some civilian decals in scale it would be close to the local airport bird when done as the "B".
Kit can be had on ebay, and once in awhile turns up in the LHS's when they buy a collection.
I have to say that 337 has one of the strangest sound when flying over :-)
I'm sure it has a pretty distinct sound to it. I've never seen one. I'm sure there are all kinds of aircraft out there that I will never see in person, there is only 4 in my collection of built models that I haven't seen in person, 3 of which are helicopters and the B25 Mitchell. I plan on solving the B25 one this summer. There is an airshow in Geneseo that will have one on display.
There are 2 of the civilian birds within 130 miles of me. One is 15 miles from me, has the baggage bay underneath and hasn't flown for at least 20 years.
Had one at the airport where I grew up that the FBO had the use of it for charters in exchange for doing the annuals (he was also A&P rated)
Funny story, at least some think so, I was going with the high school councilers daughter, both of us were Juniors at the time. She had never seen one. Her dad ran the avaition classes (was a pilot) I was in at the airport. One morning we took her out, blindfolded, and put her in the right front seat. Both engines were already lit off. The FBO was the pilot and her dad and I were behind. When we taxied out, her dad said take off the blinfold. When we took off, the FBO held her on the ground longer than usual to make sure we had plenty of speed. Just after liftoff, and well above single engine speed, he shut down and feathered the front one. Her scream about blew out all the plexi.... the 3 of us were laughing til we almost cried, and did I ever get beat by her after.

Looks like you've got some sculpture work ahead with those window holes. I remember seeing a 1/48 O2A done up in an USAF scheme similar to the one on the box top - but across the top of the main wing in giant letters was written DON'T SHOOT. I don't know the story behind that - but it sure made for a unique model.
And the story about your girlfriend . . . Well - that's a good way to get to know someone - to see how they respond in an emergency situation . . . pretty funny.
Spent a few hours on the Blenheim yesterday - mostly finishing the interior painting of the rear fuselage, exposed areas of the wing, gear, and gear bay areas, and applying some washes and dry brushing to bring out some detail. So near the end of that time things didnt' look all that much different from when I started . . .
And then - in the last 15 minutes or so . . .
Wing halves and gear go together.
Wing and fuselage assembled. Tail control surfaces added.
and BOOM ! - I got a headless blenheim. Next is the cockpit interior scratch-building part. I think this will slow back down a bit.
Nice start on her Bossman.
There was another pic of an O2 that had "THE FAC" on top of the wing. Thinking of putting either of those on with dry transfer lettering.
As for the girlfriend, she ended up a bigger flake than I turned out to be.....now kind of wonder if that had anything to do with it.....

I like how your Blenheim is shaping up Bossman. That thing will be on my to do list one day.
The fit of the Dornier 335 is really good. I've got a little bit of cleanup to do and then it will be ready to prime and paint.
I want to progress this build pretty quickly, so I'm not adding detail to the pit or the wheel wells, other than some harnesses for the seat.

Looks like I'm falling behind here, lol! Nice job guys! I got a little more work done on the Spectre. Painted what seems like at least 80% of the parts light ghost grey as the instructions call for, rear landing put together, then installed the rear landing gear in the fuselage halves.
I'm not sure how much time I'm going to land up having this week to work on it. I have a lot of cleaning and preparing for a new little arrival at the end of the week......We are getting a Golden retriever puppy on Friday! I'm sure I'll be quite busy for a while with house breaking, lol.

I have a few more intence days at work then hopefully I can get stuck into the B-17
