Hey all,  Just catching up.  There's alotta work going on here.

Mawright - The interior work on the 410 looks great - and that paint scheme is a tough one to pull off with brushes and sponges - but it's looking good !

Theuns - It'll be great to see the Cat come together.  The B-17 was looking really good to my eyes.   The interior work was great !  I especially liked the wood effects you got on the tables.  I understand about the fit on some of those large parts though.  Those are some big, old, well used molds.  Hopefully we'll see it come together some time.  (Maybe if you did a "cut-away" model, you'd be able to show off the interior work and strategically cut into the areas that were giving you fit issues)

Keyda - Hope you're feeling better.

Tonka - The F-82 looks really nice at this point - nice smooth finish !  Either way you go - black or a nat metal finish - you've got a great base to work from.

B-1 - The C-130 looks pretty huge.  She's coming together nicely

68-GT - Looking at the painting diagram with the green/grey scheme, it makes me wonder why they chose to mold it in a plastic that would be better for a desert scheme.  (?)    It looks very nice anyway - and paint will cover it either way !

I started some of the scratch building that is needed to fill the cockpit of the Blenheim.  Here's where I am after a few hours of building this weekend.  The round seats, the IP, and the control stick are the kit parts.  The whole pilot seat and frame, and the seat back for the crewman were scratched from cut styrene card stock and rod.

After painting . . .

All I need is to apply the IP decal, add some foil harnesses, and maybe apply a wash before its all buttoned up.

I finally have progress to report!  Lol.

I made a mess with the putty.  I just can't get the hang of the stuff.  I'm going to order that perfect plastic putty, and see how I do with that.  It seems the harder I try to be neat, the more of a mess I make.  Oh well, it is what it is.

Landing gear doors, and cargo doors on.

Wings!

Hoping to do some more after dinner tonight.

Keyda - might try this trick on putty.  Put a layer of masking tape on each side of the seam, leaving about a 1/16th inch from each piece to the seam.  That keeps it off of what you don't want to putty, and also gives you the thickness of the tape to sand down to.  When you hit the tape, you can pull it and finish sanding.  Also helps in preserving panel lines and rivets.

Making progress on it, glad you are feeling better.

Yea, I don't know why I haven't thought of doing that before.  I will be sure to do that next time though.  Live and learn I guess.  Still got the cough and some stuffiness, but I'm doing much better than I was a week ago.

Got the engine nacelles mounted, and a few other fiddly bits as I call them.  As long as everything goes as planned tomorrow I'm going to try and get it painted.

Being a former C-130 guy I'm interested in knowing which -130 model your building (E/H/J?). What unit markings?

It's the H model, and I haven't fully decided which markings yet.  I have 3 to choose from.  It's probably going to be either A or B.

Version A:USAF 711ST, S.O.S/919th SOG Operation "Desert Storm" 1991

Version B:USAF 711ST, S.O.S/919th SOG, Duke field, Florida, 1990

Version C:USAF 16th, S.O.S/1st SOG Hulbert field, Flordia, 1991

I got some stuff masked off yesterday, but that was all I had time to do.  I'm hoping I can get some paint on her today.  It's a miserable rainy day here anyway, so what better way to spend my time!

Finally had some time to get the Spectre painted.  I apparently didn't do a very good job masking off the windows, so I had to scrap away at some paint with a tooth pick.  I'm still learning, lol.

Got the props on.

And the underside fiddly bits.

Over the course of the next few days I'll be getting to the decals.

Things didn't go as planned this afternoon, so I got to sneak off to the bench and get the decals done on the Spectre.

The line ones were such a pain!

Top done.

Sides.

Front.

Props.

On display.

Very nice! There is just something super "menecing" about a 130 in all over grey scheme ;-)

I will post a pic on the front page :-)

That is only 3 out of the 5 Herc's I have, lol. Plus one more in the stash.  I have a 1/72 MC-130E Combat Talon "flying" in one corner, and a 1/48 scale "flying" in the other corner.Big Smile

I think the PBYs were awesome airplanes. Can you think about the improvements with modern engines, etc? Nearing end of the work on the ME 410. No realize there's no windows! Also it appears the kit was either bent/tweaked/or warped at some point. Don't knwo if this was pre-, or during assembly.
