I would like to join with a 1/48 Tamiya Mosquito Mk 6 , either in RAF or SAAF colours.

Pit is quite detailed, I added tape straps and wire harnasses for the radios.

That is good to hear!  I have the fighter version already released, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I tried the old mold a while back, and it was so terrible, I put it in the spare parts box.

ET:  looking forward to watching your build; I've come to appreciate the unique look of RAF bombers.  Airfix is said to be releasing a new-mold Blenheim Mk IV in the future, which I'd like to get whenever it makes an appearance.

AA:  Nice work; great looking refueling truck.

Next month according to the website.

Well, back to my other group build project tonight, the 1/48 Battle of Britain diorama.  Started painting the interior of the Tamiya Spitfire Mk. I:

https://www.pinterest.de/pin/55450639146038615/

and the Albion refueling truck is almost done:

(the 1/48 Tilly in the background is for another RAF diorama I'm doing, which I unfortunately started too early to enter in the Group Build; it's a Western Desert diorama with an RAF P-40 Warhawk, along with the Tilly).

I am finally going to get started on this Airfix 1/72 A.W. Whitley Mk. 5.  This build has gained special meaning to me as a dear friend (the one who introdcued me to modeling 37 years ago) is going through a very hard time and this is one of his favorite aircraft.  I wish to present it to him when completed and I am also using this as fuel for me to complete this build - my modeling interest feels limited with the news I have received in regards to my friend but I need to push through and complete it as quickly as possible.

The aircraft will be done as one of the bombers which carried out the first raids on Germany (Berlin).

This is the kit -Kit box

and this is the contents of the kit - Kit Contents

I have started the interior and will post progress pictures as I go (hope everyone can see the pics, trying a new hosting site).

Get those RAF fighters coming: Dunkirk wasn't exactly a victory you know. Heard talk the Germans might bomb London soon. Eric

Yeah, it's a really old Airfix kit, 1976 IIRC.

Eric Z, good work on the  Spitfire V.   Yes

I detect raised panel lines, so must be an older boxing from Airfix - ah, the memories ...

Great job there AA! Yes

Ya know after seeing 'Dunkirk' I'm now in the mood to build a Hurricane or an early model 'aircraft not to be named here.' But I really need to get the Tempest finished before I even look at anything else... Embarrassed

If you can find another roundel in the same size you can just lay it over the one there. You can buy a sheet of just roundels, which is kinda a waste just to use two but you still have it in case you need it in the future.

No, it's not the angle of the photo; unfortunately, the decals were printed out of register. If you look closely, you can tell the yellow outer ring of the roundel is also slightly off-register. Oh well, nothing to be done about that... :-(

She's lookin' good AA!

Though I do notice the red in the fusilage roundel looks slightly out of register. Not sure there's much you can do about that though. Or maybe it's just the angle of the photo.

Decals are done on the 1/72 Spitfire.  Now just have to spray it with Dullcote, peel the mask off the canopy, and a little weathering and she'll be done.  Then it's time to start on the 1/48 Spit for my diorama!

The markings are for the aircraft of Polish ace and 303 Squadron commander Jan Zumbach.

Bish

Front page updated. Andy, are you still planning on doing the hasegawa Spit i have you down for.

Bish, honestly I've picked that one up and put it down so many times already and just can't get into it. I'd scratch that one from the roster for now but I'll be keeping an eye out for something at one of the shows coming up in the next few months that I can build.

I do really like that Andy. You did a really nice job on those markings, i like the open gun bay and some nice chipping effects.

Thanks for sharing this with us and for giving us a fine addition for the front page. I will update that tonight.

Was finally able to wrap this one up. This is my 2nd time building the newer Airfix Hurricane and like last time it went together pretty painlessly. Tried a couple things for the first time on this one, including painting the roundels and drilling out the exhaust. All paints were tamiya and I used EZ line for the rigging. Here are some finished pics...

I'm thinking the last one for the front page Bish. Thanks for hosting the massive and fun GB! You are a great host and I appreciate all the work that you put into this and your other GB's. Thanks again!
