Question: how do I get the group build badge pictures to show at the bottom of my postings? Either the rotating gallery as some of you have or just a static group of badges?

Here's the one I use for creating rotating gifs:

Seems to be working.

I had a website that you could enter the pictures into a series of boxes and it would kick out a sequence you could cut & paste into your comment section to cycle them. Just noticed it doesn't seem to be working now. I'd pop you the link but it's bookmarked on my PC at home.

Justin: Ouch, that's why I don't build many big bombers. After masking the canopies of a B-24 and B-17 I need a break....

Scott & Theuns: Those are looking great guys.

I cannot express how much I am enjoying the work being done in the GB.  I started back on my SE5 this morning in between rain squalls.  Got some painting done and finished a wing jig.

They generally need very little if any filler. It is still a nice kit though ;-)

Good to see it coming together Theuns, from what i have heard of Tamiya aircraft they tend to have very nice fit.

latest on the mozzy, the fuse has been filled and sanded ( very un tamiya fit there) but the necell to wing and wing to fuse fit look much better.

Very cool Lanc, love the prop blur.

I dryfitted the wings to the mozzies fuselage and now see how large the model actually is. I initially wanted to go for the all over PRU blue, now I am in two minds about it. I am worried that with very few pannels I can pre shade, the large mono colour scheme might be hard to "give feel" to it.

Otherwize I will remove the camera from the bomb bay and go with the grey/green scheme.....

Well, guys, I sat down at the bench today, feeling inspired...only the inspiration was to work on the Tamiya A6m5 zero.  The newly released zeke from , well damn, about ten years ago now....well, I worked on a display base I started (I will post some pics later...) and got the figure assembled and primed.  But, instead of starting yet another, I decided to stop avoiding the finishing work on the Dambusters raid build.  I didn't get to spray the canopy yet, but I was able to apply all of the little, teeny, tiny squares from the eduard canopy mask set..holy shiite...was that tedious work!  ...which is exactly why I was avoiding it!  Lol

Dan, that is looking right on - both top and bottom.  Many go free hand when calling for soft edge camou without considering scale effect.   Good on you for taking the extra time to create masks.

Jack

That camo looks perfect Dan!

And nice stand, I need to get something like that instead of stacking the model up on wooden blocks to paint... Tongue Tied

Eric: Excellent job on the Bristol Beaufighter.

Armor Aficionado: Spitfires are lookin' good.

Andy: Great finish to your Hurricane.

ExtremeTeam: A good start to your Whitley Mk. V.

Theuns: Nice work on the Mosquito cockpit, been thinking about picking up one of those.

Have not posted in a few weeks, here's my big progress update. Smile

After pre-shading with Tamiya X-1 Black on the top, and XF-1 Flatt black on the bottom, I used trace paper to draw out the camouflage pattern's for the top of the aircraft. I wanted to do a soft edge effect with the Dark Earth and Dark Green. The Flat Black edge line with be a hard edge. Having a stand really make's airbrushing go smoother, where you don't have to hold the aircraft.

After the Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black had cured, I masked the flat black areas with Tamiya tape. Used up a good amount, I like to cut the tape on a piece of glass with a metal ruler.

First color I airbrushed was Model Master enamel Dark Earth #2054, in two light coats over the hole top surfaces. I'm doing something like luftwaffe aircraft that have two colors on the top sides like RLM 70 & 71, you airbrush on the lighter color first over the hole area. Then fellow up with the second color in the areas you want.

After letting the Dark Earth cure, I used the trace paper to mask for Tamiya XF81 Dark Green. Two light coats where applied. I also airbrushed Model Master RAF Interior Green.

I'm very happy with the results, only a few touch ups here and there where needed.

I then started to assembled the add on parts, propeller, landing gear, etc. Only problem I've seen with the kit are the bomb bay doors are warped.

Hey Theuns, I've had the same problem with fuselages not fitting all the way. I know the feeling of thinking that 'did I do something wrong here!?!'

Glad to hear you are doing better, hopefully they did get all of it and you won't have to go though all that again.

Thanx, I got the fuselage joined, the top seam did not close up 100% so I inserted some stretched sprue as a filler. Maybe I messed up the cabin fit wich lead to the problem.

The only really stupid design with this kit in my opinion is te 2 side windows one has to glue into the rest of the canopy...this was very fiddly and there the fit was also not just "drop it in"

As for my health, the surgeons seem to have been able to cut all the cancer out and the CT scans show all clear for now, so I might be arround for some time to come still LOL

The only bad part is the cost of private health care here in SA, it cost me about a month's income I had to pay cash (no medical aid) so I have t make this up again.

I will be doing an all over PRU blue scheme on the mozzy, will have to play around with some tonal shading under the blue as there are not really any pannels to pre shade and break up the top colours.
