Frontpage updated.

lewbud, there are a couple of ways you can do it. The one i use is to select Download this photo (downward pointing arrow) then view all sizes. Select the size you want, i go for 640, then right click the image, slect properties and copy a paste. Bit long winded but its my preffered way.

Anybody know how to get Flickr to show the pics, rather than just the URL?  I'd use my Fotki account, but I can't get the app to open on my phone (Android Razr).  Anyways, here we go.

The box.

The trees.

https://flic.kr/p/YicWtP

The beginning of the pit.  Very basic.

https://flic.kr/p/YicNun

The finished pit.

https://flic.kr/p/XeU6ab

Starting to look like a plane. Not much of a gap on the left side, the right side is another story.

https://flic.kr/p/XfUysw

Working on the starboard side.

https://flic.kr/p/YwHcPM

Will putty the starboard wing root tonight, as well as start painting. I've got some Tamiya medium sea grey in a rattle can for the underside, and some Model Master Dark Green. Will pickup some ocean grey tomorrow.  Hopefully the kit decals are usable.  If not, will have to cobble something together.

No worries Damian, it was great having you on board. If you think your able to get to it, i can always add it back. If not, there's always the Commonwealth GB next year.

Bish,

Please add a 1/72 Heller Tempest Mk. V in addition to the Sabre.   Going to treat this one as a weekend build.  Hope to have it done by Sunday.  Lots of good work going on, keep it up!  Congratulations to all who've finished.

Oh wow that looks fantastic! I normally just wimp out and use the PE ones but I've never got results with tape as good as yours. Yes

Many thanks to Gamera forcthe tip re making seat belts from tape instead of buying photo etch.  Just finished them and it was so easy, and they look pretty darn good!

Ah, thanks for the tip, G! I was mulling that over, whether or not to add the pilot. Tamiya provides a very nicely detailed pilot figure with the kit, but past experience tells me their figures don't always fit into their drivers' positions that well, plus that would obscure some of the nice detail work. I really didn't want to go through the added hassle of installing photo-etch seat belts, but I never thought of making them from tape!

Sharp job on the cockpit there AA. Are you adding a pilot or any seatbelts? If you don't want to buy the PE ones tape ones look pretty good too.

Got some good progress made on the Spitfire this weekend.

The cockpit is done, ready to slide into the fuselage.  I used a Yahu Models aftermarket instrument panel; real nice quality detailed look, but it was a real pain-in-the-ass to install.  Plus, the compass face they provide was WAY too big to fit the actual compass (almost 50% too big), so I left it off.

The fuselage halves are together, ready to accept the cockpit assembly.  I added a few scratchbuilt interior parts for extra detail.  Overall, so far I'm pretty pleaased with it, other than the fit problems I had with the aftermarket part.

Got the Reaper painted and now ready for decals.

The weapons are also painted.

These are for both drones, not loading it up much.

You and me both G. I had one of the Reaper undercarrage legs broken and the piece was missing, so had to scratch that. And despite having little plastic tube i am supposed to put parts in, i always forget and end up loseing an antenna or seatbelt or somthing. Its then just a case of whether i scratch it, spares box or hope no one notices.

Thanks! I may have to try that.

I think I'm whined here enough that I always lose a couple parts from everything I build...

Depends. If they're really small parts, parts that are going to be difficult to hold and paint, then yeah. And if they're parts like the interior of the cockpit, that will need to be painted before assembling, then also yeah. But if it's something like the exterior of the plane (wings, tail pieces, etc.), or any pieces that can just as easily be painted after assembly, then I'll assemble first before painting.

Hey AA, looks good. Do you normally paint parts on the sprues like that? I can see how I would keep you from losing parts like I always do.

Slow and steady progress on the Mk. I Spitfire.  I must say, the Tamiya cockpit is impressively well detailed!

I know G, big bonus. This would make a good entry to the weekend GB. They are not easy to find at least on this side of the pond. Italeri also boxes this same kit but that only comes with one.

Bish: Looks awesome! I've got to get one of these, no Censored canopy to mask - my most hated point of building aircraft.

Looking forward to seeing that Sabre.

It will be open to all branches. I plan on doing one each from the British army, navy and air force.

To all who've finished, congratulations!Toast  Finally got caught up and am inspired to break the Sabre out when I get home tonight.  Lots of good work going on. Looking forward to next year's Commonwealth build.  Will it be air force only or will naval avaition be allowed as well.

Been working on my second build for a few days.

I am doing both kits, but the second will be in USAF markings for the model club GB to mark 70 years of the USAF.

These are rather simple kits with not many parts that can be put together in an evening. But i have just been doing a little at a time over a week or so. Fist thing is to fit the wheel wells and then add the wings.

Then, after painting the inside of the engine black, the top was added along with the rear fins.

So just got a few small bits to add and then off for some primer and paint.

Ha ha, yeah, that's a problem! I created the page on Pinterest and named it "Model Projects," so I could load pictures of my model work. Well, not only does Pinterest link to other images that are similar, but it links to other sites with similar keywords, so my "model" page gets linked all kinds of fashion model pages! Same way, the airbrush turntable in my latest photos I guess resembles a wheel, so I got all kinds of links to photos of bicycle, motorcycle, and car wheels. Weird, but whatta ya gonna do?

Well, except for the length of hose that I still need to get to attach to the boom to refuel the Spitfire, I'm calling the Albion refueler DONE.  Now just gotta get crackin' on the Spit.

Question: how do I get the group build badge pictures to show at the bottom of my postings? Either the rotating gallery as some of you have or just a static group of badges?

To add anything to the sig, go to settings at top right and you can edit it there. It only allows so many charectors, so for more than a few GB badges you either have to put them into a GIF or all into one image.
