Real world has messed things up for me and I've fallen behind the builds. Unless I've got it completely wrong, Photobucket is now charging $40 a month for photo sharing. That is crazy. I would greatly appreciate it if you folk could acquaint me with the alternatives. I know there was some comments a week ago, but it would certainly save me time. I don't mind a pay for service, but $40 a month is nuts. What's better? Thanks much Eric

Try $400 USD per year, not $40.

That's apparently to allow for the "3rd Party Hosting" cost, or more to the point, to kill your business over night!

1/48 Tamiya P47-D Bubbletop
1/48 Hobby Boss TBF-1C Avenger (on hold)

A model boat is much cheaper than a real one and won't sink with you in it.

It's really not that blue...Flourescent light bulb in my lamp. Sprayed a homemade white filter over it, though...not excatly thrilled with it. One stupid question...Walrus has a bunch of places to do washes on fuselage. Would a whitewash work to make it weatherbeaten more...or is that just crazy talk? Maybe a light brown?

sMEH Supermarine Walrus: WISP. Almost finished....Last night did the decals. The ones that came with the kit, for lack of a better word, exploded. Looked through old decals and ended up using mostly P40 Warhawk/Kittyhawk ones. They were just not the right size, but made do. I now wish I filled in the inexplicible roundel shaped grooves. I shouldn't have bet on the Smer decals to cover them up. I added the FTB letters in the plane ID as a personal touch to show what I really think of this model.Bang Head

I'm continuing to make progress with the Hampden, so some odds-and-ends photos of the smaller and "getting near the end" parts:

engine nacelles, props, etc

Pieces that needed to be painted black

Random fuselage parts

Two more bombs for the wing bomb racks; the earlier four bombs go in the bomb bay

Tonight I plan on messing around with some weather powder on the black undersides; see if I can create a little more visual interest.

PJ, i hope you didn't get the bathroom and bedroom scheme mixed up with your Spit scheme.

I convinced my wife to paint the living room to match my reproduction US Army WWII (Parsons) "M-41" field jacket, maybe OD #3.  Took the jacket to the paint store for a custom mix, to make sure the color was right.  The room is still that way.

Nice, i guess just having the one colour is a bit easier to get through the wife approval system.

It's all in the training.  Before that, I got the living room painted in OD and Neutral Gray--just like a Flying Fortress!

Yes

lol, ye, but best not tell her that.

Yeah, you're right; and I've learned how to keep certain things "confidential."

Lol, AWESOME!!!

The joke was:  when I came home with the OD paint, she had a fit; took herself over to the hardware store to get something "better."  When she put it on the wall, it was so disgusting, she had to admit the OD was better.

PJ: Thanks, I'm already liking it from just the five photos I uploaded last night. I don't know now why it took me so long. Forty bucks a year is a bargin to get away from all those pop-up ads- and at nineteen it was a steal! And a trojan- ack thank God I never got any of those (or at least my anti-virus never reported any).

Dan: Wow, that looks like a really nice set. Personally I'd have prefered a battle-damaged Bf-109 instead of another Spit but hey I guess that would be rubbing it in???

My mistake, 1/48 figures.

The kit is the new Italeri offering.

That pit looks fantastic! Is that  the new Airfix 1/48 kit?

You said you are getting figures in 1/72 for this build?

Thanks Modelcrazy: Some good detail cockpit work.

Thanks Gamera.

Thanks Damouav.

Awhile back when photobucket started to have problems, I switched over to Flickr. Free accounts get a full 1 TB of space. I've been very happy with it. You click on the arrow at the bottom of the page to the photo you want to share, it will pop up a BBC code. Copy and paste that code into the text field you want to post in. Smile

My Lancaster came with a in flight stand with two spitfires that I've already finished.

I thought that stand looked ready made for it.

I am guessing thats a BBMF display.

I think you will like usung ImageShack. That stupid PB is just a plain PITA to deal with. I deleted all my pictures and clicked on the delete account tab a couple of days ago and it still says that the account  will be deleted by 7/4 but it's still active.

My antivirus intersepted aTrojan from the PB site. I did not click on any of the pesty banners but my Eset program sotpped it dead cold.

It's great you got it at 1/2 off! I paid $19 for the last 2-3 years but when I renewed it in January was near $40 but well worth it.

Daniel, Steve, Gamera - Fantastic work for your respective builds.

I have a slow start for my S.E.5a with some holes drilled for rigging, and testing out some wood grain effects. I was intending on using very thin copper wire for eyelets and 1mm copper tube for turnbuckles, but they are way to big for 1/48 scale. so I will have to try and source smaller diameter tube and do away with the eyelets. I wont to use mono filement as EZ-Line is really hard to find in my location.

No build is complete without a helping hand, or paw as it maybe..
